The Ukrainian government revealed late on Wednesday afternoon that they had received a second shipment of equipment from SpaceX founder Elon Musk.

“Received the second shipment of Starlink stations! @elonmusk keeps his word!” Mykhailo Fedorov, the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, tweeted. “Thank you for supporting Ukraine and peace in the entire world! @OMarkarova thanks!”

“You’re welcome,” Musk responded. “We have also sent power adapters for car cigarette lighters, solar/battery packs and generators for places where electricity is not available.”

Ukraine announced at the end of February that it had received the first shipment of Starlink terminals from Musk after Fedorov had appealed to Musk on Twitter, writing: “@elonmusk, while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand.”

Musk responded: “Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route.”

“Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency broadband internet across the globe. Within each coverage area, orders are fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis,” the company says. “Using advanced satellites in a low orbit, Starlink enables video calls, online gaming, streaming, and other high data rate activities that historically have not been possible with satellite internet.”

“Starlink is ideally suited for areas where connectivity has been unreliable or completely unavailable,” the company added. “People across the globe are using Starlink to gain access to education, health services and even communications support during natural disasters.”

Shortly after Ukraine received the terminals, Musk sent out a warning that they would be targeted by the Russian military and that users needed to be careful.

“Important warning: Starlink is the only non-Russian communications system still working in some parts of Ukraine, so probability of being targeted is high,” Musk tweeted. “Please use with caution.”

When later asked about how users should use the system with caution, Musk responded, “Turn on Starlink only when needed and place antenna away as far away from people as possible.”

“Place light camouflage over antenna to avoid visual detection,” Musk added.

Musk, who also co-founded Tesla, has since advocated for different energy policies for Europe as they deal with the Russia invasion of Ukraine.

“Hopefully, it is now extremely obvious that Europe should restart dormant nuclear power stations and increase power output of existing ones. This is *critical* to national and international security,” Musk tweeted. “Also nuclear is vastly better for global warming than burning hydrocarbons for energy.”

“For those who (mistakenly) think this is a radiation risk, pick what you think is the worst location,” Musk added. “I will travel there & eat locally grown food on TV. I did this in Japan many years ago, shortly after Fukushima. Radiation risk is much, much lower than most people believe.”
