Twitter Removes Trump 2020 Video From Trump’s Feed After Warner Bros Complaint

After a copyright complaint from Warner Brothers, Twitter has pulled a fan-made Trump 2020 campaign video from President Trump’s feed.

“MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” Trump tweeted Tuesday afternoon, posting a video reportedly made by the group MateyProductions highlighting some of Trump’s presidential accomplishments, as well as some of his more famous detractors.

The video begins with a series of clips of then-President Barack Obama and aerial shots of famous sites in Washington, D.C. over ominous music: Hans Zimmer’s “Why Do We Fall” from the score of “The Dark Knight Rises.”

The screen goes black and the following statements appear: “First they ignore you … then they laugh at you … then they call you racist.” The video then flashes clips of Hillary and Bill Clinton and CNN’s logo.

The tone of the score shifts from brooding to more triumphant as footage of Trump attending key meetings and appearing at raucous rallies plays. Among the positive clips are reports on Brett Kavanaugh’s declaration of his innocence and Special Counsel Robert Mueller finding no collusion and Trump’s meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jung Un.

Amid more footage of Trump’s critics, including Rosie O’Donnell and Amy Schumer, as well as Trump’s victories, including the improving economy, the screen presents the message: “Donald J. Trump … your vote … proved them all wrong.” The video ends by declaring “Trump: The Great Victory.”

Warner Brothers clearly didn’t appreciate the unauthorized use of the music from its popular film. “The use of Warner Bros’ score from The Dark Knight Rises in the campaign video was unauthorized,” the studio said in a statement reported by BuzzFeed. “We are working through the appropriate legal channels to have it removed.”

A few hours after the studio filed its complaint, Twitter pulled the video. In its place was the message: “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.” Screenshot below:

Trump has since deleted the original tweet.

Though The Independent initially reported that Trump could face “legal action” for the video, which the outlet appears to have thought his team created, BuzzFeed reports that the video was actually created by a group called MateyProductions.

“The video appears to be lifted from a YouTube video posted to a Reddit thread on /r/The_Donald. The video by MateyProductions cites Zimmer’s score, but it’s unclear if permission to use it was obtained,” BuzzFeed reports.

The link provided by BuzzFeed on YouTube is now dead.

The outlet also suggests that the studio might have reason to harbor some particular antipathy for the Trump administration: “Warner Bros. is a subsidiary of WarnerMedia, which was recently acquired by AT&T after the Justice Department failed in its attempt to block the merger, one of Trump’s 2016 campaign promises.”

As Twitchy points out, the video is still in circulation on Twitter, the platform thus far having failed to completely weed it out:
