Twitter Allows Parody Accounts For Trump But Not Beto

Hank Berrien

This week, Twitter, which tolerates all sorts of parody accounts that mock President Trump, reportedly permanently suspended one lone account that brilliantly parodied former Congressman Beto O’Rourke’s series of blogs that detail his personal journeys.

The Twitter account, apparently run by a woman who has a gift for imitating O’Rourke’s navel-gazing as displayed on Instagram, was notified by Twitter that it had been permanently suspended with a note reading, “Hello. It has come to our attention that your Twitter account is in violation of the Twitter Rules, specifically the policy on impersonation. Impersonation is pretending to be another entity in order to deceive, and is strictly prohibited. The account has been suspended and will not be restored.”
