Trump’s Crusade Against Farmers

   DailyWire.com

Donald Trump likes to boast that he will stand for the average American, the kind of folks who just want to live in peace on their farms or in their quiet homes.

If Trump’s personal history is any indication how Trump will treat the average humble American, those same humble folks may want to build a wall of their own to keep Trump from bulldozing their properties.

By now, it is well-known that Trump used the power of eminent domain in the infamous case of Vera Coking, who refused to sell her home when Trump wanted to expand his casino. He demonized her to catalyze the public against her, leaving her to fight her local representatives, who sided with Trump over her.

What is far less known is the case of Michael Forbes.

Forbes, who owns a farm in Scotland, was targeted by Trump because Trump wanted to build a golf course, and Forbes’ farm sat in the middle of the area Trump wanted. What kind of farm is it? As Jen Kuznicki of Conservative Review writes:

A collection of tin-sided and roofed buildings, shelters for equipment, outbuildings for specific purposes, the farm looks like many dotting the American landscape. Not pretty, but practical; the family farms that many of us third and fourth generation Americans came from were put together with second-hand materials and cedar post fences instead of the fabled white picket. In many cases the structure of the barn is intact, but many of the wallboards have disappeared over the many years of use, raggedy tarps partially cover items deemed to be useful at some future point. These farms, these homesteads, are more often than not property owned by generations.

Forbes refused to sell his farm.

Guess how Trump responded.

Correct. Trump called the property “disgusting,” “slum-like,” and blustered that Forbes lived like a “pig.”

When Trump targeted Vera Coking, her home underwent condemnation proceedings. With Forbes, he attempted to use the Scottish government’s equivalent of condemnation proceedings, a “Compulsory Purchase Order” so he could seize Forbes’ property.

How vile is Trump for targeting those who stand in his way?

For his courage in standing up to Trump, in 2012, Forbes won the ‘Top Scot’ award at the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Awards.

How vile is Trump for targeting those who stand in his way?

Trump has long used government money to get ahead instead of his own; he has no idea of how people who did not grow up with a silver spoon in their mouths have to rely on themselves instead of the government or a rich father.

As Kuznicki concludes, “Trump tells his audiences that he loves them. He loves the poorly educated because he looks like a giant among them. For some reason, few, if any, have griped about the slight. So let me apply the knowledge of how he’s treated similar people, people who dot America’s landscape.”
