President Trump is staying on the offensive over a new storyline that says Barack Obama’s FBI embedded spies within the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election, saying it “could be one of the biggest political scandals in history!”
In a slew of late-night and early-morning posts on Twitter, Trump said the embedded FBI agent “never reported collusion with Russia” and was “only there to spy for political reasons.” Trump also cited the “seemingly massive amount of money” that was paid to the spy.
Records show that FBI ‘informant’ Stefan Halper was paid $282,000 in 2016 and $129,280 in 2017 for spying on Trump.
Trump said that after more than a year of investigation into supposed collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, all that’s been turned up is a “deep state” scandal.
Trump on Tuesday took questions from the press and again expressed anger that the FBI spied on his campaign.
“A lot of people are saying they had spies in my campaign. If they had spies in my campaign, that would be a disgrace to this country,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “That would be one of the biggest insults that anyone’s ever seen and it would be very illegal, aside from everything else. It would make probably every political event ever look like small potatoes.”
