<p>President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> signed an executive order on Wednesday prohibiting federal funding for schools teaching &#8220;radical, anti-American ideologies&#8221; including Critical Race Theory and gender ideology.</p>
<p>In recent years, parents have watched schools &#8220;indoctrinate&#8221; their children rather than provide them with &#8220;a rigorous education and to instill a patriotic admiration for our incredible Nation and the values for which we stand,&#8221; the order said.</p>
<p>&#8220;In many cases, innocent children are compelled to adopt identities as either victims or oppressors solely based on their skin color and other immutable characteristics,&#8221; the order read. &#8220;In other instances, young men and women are made to question whether they were born in the wrong body and whether to view their parents and their reality as enemies to be blamed.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;These practices not only erode critical thinking but also sow division, confusion, and distrust, which undermine the very foundations of personal identity and family unity,&#8221; the order stated.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/ending-radical-indoctrination-in-k-12-schooling/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">order</a> gives the Education Secretary 90 days to submit a plan for both protecting parental rights and eliminating federal funding and support for &#8220;illegal and discriminatory treatment and indoctrination in K-12 schools, including based on gender ideology and discriminatory equity ideology.&#8221;</p>
<p>A &#8220;discriminatory equity ideology&#8221; includes claiming a person can be &#8220;inherently racist&#8221; or &#8220;privileged&#8221; or &#8220;oppressed&#8221; because of their skin color or that the U.S. is fundamentally racist, the order said.</p>
<p>Gender ideology includes the &#8220;false claim that males can identify as and thus become women and vice versa,&#8221; the administration clarified in a previous executive order.</p>
<p>The ideologies are banned in both the curriculum, as well as teacher training and licensing, the order said.</p>
<p>The order warned that &#8220;steering students toward surgical and chemical mutilation without parental consent&#8221; or allowing males to access women&#8217;s bathrooms may violate several federal laws.</p>
<p>Likewise, demanding acquiescence to &#8220;white privilege&#8221; or &#8220;unconscious bias&#8221; actually &#8220;promotes racial discrimination and undermines national unity,&#8221; the order said.</p>
<p>The order also directs the attorney general to coordinate with state and local authorities on prosecuting K-12 teachers and school officials who break the law by &#8220;unlawfully facilitating the social transition of a minor student,&#8221; which can include changing names, pronouns, and clothes to present as the opposite sex.</p>
<p>Proponents of gender ideology are likely to launch legal challenges to the administration&#8217;s efforts to remove it from public schools.</p>
<p>Over his first week and a half in office, Trump has also released other executive orders taking aim at gender ideology, including one <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/defending-women-from-gender-ideology-extremism-and-restoring-biological-truth-to-the-federal-government/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recognizing</a> two sexes and one <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/protecting-children-from-chemical-and-surgical-mutilation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">banning</a> federal funding for child transgender medicalization.</p>
