President Donald Trump slammed Hollywood leftists John Legend and Chrissy Teigen on Sunday night in response to NBC News running a program about the criminal justice system in the U.S. and how it is broken — an issue that the president has dedicated significant time and resources toward fixing.

“When all of the people pushing so hard for Criminal Justice Reform were unable to come even close to getting it done, they came to me as a group and asked for my help. I got it done with a group of Senators & others who would never have gone for it,” Trump tweeted. “Obama couldn’t come close a man named @VanJones68, and many others, were profusely grateful (at that time!). I SIGNED IT INTO LAW, no one else did, & Republicans deserve much credit. But now that it is passed, people that had virtually nothing to do with it are taking the praise.”

“Guys like boring musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is – but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed. ‘Anchor’ @LesterHoltNBC doesn’t even bring up the subject of President Trump or the Republicans when talking about the importance or passage of Criminal Justice Reform,” Trump continued. “They only talk about the minor players, or people that had nothing to do with it…And the people that so desperately sought my help when everyone else had failed, all they talk about now is Impeaching President Trump!”

Trump’s attack on Legend came after Legend “encouraged viewers to get involved with Free America, the campaign he started to help make a difference,” according to Heavy.

Trump has taken multiple steps to reform the criminal justice system, including signing into law the “First Step Act, which will reduce mandatory minimum sentences on a case-by-case basis and better prepare inmates for their lives after prison through education and vocational workshops,” Business Insider reported. “Roughly 3,100 inmates were released from federal prisons in July, after the new bill recalculated their good-behavior time in prison. The bill was hailed as a signature piece of legislation amid intense scrutiny of the US’s justice system in recent years.”

Teigen was triggered by the president’s tweet, specifically that he did not tag her, writing: “lol what a p**** a*s b****. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president.”

Trump has listened to celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, on matters involving criminal justice reform and pardoning inmates that some say received sentences that were too harsh.

Last June, Trump “pardoned a Tennessee grandmother serving a life sentence for cocaine trafficking — after hearing a plea from reality television star Kim Kardashian West in an Oval Office meeting,” the Associated Press reported. “Alice Marie Johnson, who turned 63 last week, had her life sentence commuted after 22 years in prison, according to the Can-Do Foundation, a group that advocated for her release.”

Trump has worked hard to win over African-Americans to the Republican Party and has tweeted his accomplishments on that front.

In February, Trump tweeted: “Be nice if Spike Lee could read his notes, or better yet not have to use notes at all, when doing his racist hit on your President, who has done more for African Americans (Criminal Justice Reform, Lowest Unemployment numbers in History, Tax Cuts, etc.) than almost any other Pres!”

Trump has also repeatedly tweeted about getting Criminal Justice Reform passed.
