President Donald Trump slammed disgraced former FBI Director James Comey on Thursday after the Justice Department’s Inspector General found that Comey broke dozens of rules at the FBI in a report that only looked at a narrow scope of Comey’s actions.
“Perhaps never in the history of our Country has someone been more thoroughly disgraced and excoriated than James Comey in the just released Inspector General’s Report,” Trump tweeted. “He should be ashamed of himself!”
“The report found that Comey violated bureau policies by drafting, leaking and retaining the memos,” Fox News noted in a report that highlighted 26 rules that Comey broke at the FBI. “However, it noted that the Justice Department declined to prosecute Comey over the violations.”
Comey responded to the report in a self-righteous and sanctimonious manner apparently believing that it made him look good.
“DOJ IG ‘found no evidence that Comey or his attorneys released any of the classified information contained in any of the memos to members of the media,'” Comey tweeted. “I don’t need a public apology from those who defamed me, but a quick message with a ‘sorry we lied about you’ would be nice.”
“And to all those who’ve spent two years talking about me ‘going to jail’ or being a ‘liar and a leaker’—ask yourselves why you still trust people who gave you bad info for so long, including the president,” Comey added.
Comey was widely slammed by critics online and on TV, including on far-left networks like CNN and MSNBC.
MSNBC noted that the report showed that Comey focused on “his own public image” instead of “his country or the FBI.”
CNN noted that the report was very “damning” for Comey as it highlighted the dozen of FBI rules that Comey broke.
