Brian Karem, a Playboy magazine writer and CNN contributor, instigated a yelling match with conservative radio host and former Trump administration official Sebastian Gorka in the Rose Garden on Thursday, and the president has picked the winner.
“@SebGorka Wins Big, No Contest!” Trump wrote on Twitter on Friday morning.
Karem started the confrontation after he eyeballed a group of conservative journalists attending the White House’s Social Media Summit and said, “This is a group of people that are eager for demonic possession.”
Gorka jumped into the fray, standing up and yelling, “And you’re a journalist, right?”
Karem, puffing out his chest, responded, saying, “Hey, come on over here and talk with me brother, we can go outside and have a long conversation.”
In response, Gorka strode over and yelled in Karem’s face: “You’re threatening me now, at the White House? In the Rose Garden? You’re threatening me, in the Rose Garden! You are a punk! You’re not a journalist! You’re a punk!” he said.
“Go home,” Karem yelled back. “Hey Gorka, get a job!” At that moment, a Secret Service agent can be seen reaching out to touch Gorka’s arm.
At the end of the skirmish, another person at the event said to Karem, “Just for the record, he’d kick your punk ass.”
Several attendees, including Joy Villa, then chanted “Gorka! Gorka! Gorka!” as he returned to his seat.
Here’s a different angle:
At the Social Media Summit, Trump brought Diamond and Silk, two black supporters big on social media, up to the podium and gave them a hug. He credited first lady Melania Trump for discovering them. He also gave Villa a shout-out for her patriotic outfit.
“On behalf of the nation it’s very important what you’re doing,” he told the bloggers, YouTubers, Twitter users, and other attendees, adding that they are “getting the honest word out.”
“With amazing creativity and determination, you are bypassing the corrupt establishment, and it is corrupt,” Trump said. “And you’re bypassing the very, very corrupt media.”
“You’re challenging the media gatekeepers and corporate censors to bring the truth to the American people. … You communicate directly with our citizens without going through the fake news filter,” Trump said.
