A second Gold Star widow, who lost her husband in Niger, came forward on Wednesday and gave her account of how her phone call with President Donald Trump went.
Michelle Black recounted her experience of when Trump called about the death of her husband — Staff Sgt. Bryan C. Black, who was in Niger along with three other U.S. soldiers — in an interview with Fox News, as The Daily Wire previously reported.
“I’m very grateful that he called and he spoke to the kids. And I think that the excitement from that made it a little better, even if it was just for a minute,” Black told Fox News. “He was very gracious and I appreciate anyone who calls because, like I said, that takes quite a bit of bravery to call into that kind of situation.”

Black is now the second Gold Star widow that has come out defending Trump after Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL) made national headlines last week accusing the President of being highly insensitive toward Gold Star families in his phone calls to them.
Some have sought to highlight how Trump must have only been kind to Black because she is Caucasian and not African-American, but this notion is easily dismissed as the other widow who came out in defense of Trump’s call was African-American.
Last week, Gold Star Father Craig Gross — who lost his son, Cpl. Frank Robert Gross —also defended Trump and said that his critics were twisting his statements.
“President Trump is doing a lot of good things as far as Gold Star families are concerned,” Gross told CNN. “I believe that if you interviewed him personally, one on one, you would find that he is very, very empathetic and very compassionate, not only toward Gold Star families but also in regards to our active duty.”
