<p>Former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> &#8220;is safe&#8221; after gunfire was reported nearby in Florida, his campaign announced on Sunday.</p>
<p>&#8220;Multiple shots fired at Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach where the former president is golfing today,&#8221; POLITICO&#8217;s Meridith McGraw <a href="https://x.com/meridithmcgraw/status/1835385328296718492" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on X.</p>
<p>Steven Cheung, Trump&#8217;s campaign communications director, said in a brief <a href="https://x.com/TrumpWarRoom/status/1835384315640734101" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>, &#8220;President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.&#8221;</p>
<p>Law enforcement sources initially <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/09/15/us-news/shooting-reported-at-donald-trumps-golf-club-while-ex-president-was-on-grounds/?utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told the New York Post</a> that two people exchanged gunfire outside the club, targeting each other and not Trump.</p>
<p>The report, citing the same insiders, emphasized that Trump was &#8220;never in danger&#8221; and the shooting happened in an area outside the club known for lots of crime.</p>
<p>However, in an update, the New York Post reported sources who said a Secret Service agent opened fire on a single man who was spotted with a possible gun on the golf course and was later arrested by local police on I-95.</p>
<p>In mid-July, a shooter opened fire on Trump while he was speaking to a crowd during an outdoor campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.</p>
<p>The former president survived, though he was hit in his right ear <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fbi-now-claims-there-was-never-any-doubt-trump-was-hit-by-a-bullet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">by a bullet</a>. One rallygoer, 50-year-old fireman <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dana-white-kid-rock-donate-to-fundraiser-for-shooting-victims-surpasses-2-million-in-under-24-hours" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Corey Comperatore</a>, was killed. Two other attendees were wounded.</p>
<p>Secret Service snipers quickly took out the gunman, identified as a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man named Thomas Matthew Crooks, who unleashed the attack with a rifle from a nearby roof.</p>
<p>Multiple <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-votes-to-establish-task-force-on-trump-assassination-attempt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigations</a> <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fbi-says-it-has-gained-access-to-phone-of-man-who-attempted-to-assassinate-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ensued</a>, with questions swirling about how law enforcement failed to stop the gunman in Butler before the shooting. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/secret-service-director-resigns-amid-uproar-over-trump-assassination-attempt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">resigned</a> amid blowback.</p>
<p>&#8220;Again folks!&#8221; Donald Trump Jr., the former president&#8217;s eldest son, <a href="https://x.com/DonaldJTrumpJr/status/1835391015181545831" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> to X on Sunday. &#8220;SHOTS FIRED at Trump Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida.&#8221;</p>
<p>He added that local law enforcement said an AK-47 was discovered in the bushes and a suspect had &#8220;reportedly&#8221; been apprehended.</p>
<p>&#8220;The Secret Service and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are &#8220;investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m.,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/SecretSvcSpox/status/1835390587673153888" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.</p>
<p>&#8220;The former president is safe,&#8221; Guglielmi continued, adding that the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office would &#8220;soon&#8221; have more details to share.</p>
<p>President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris &#8220;have been briefed about the security incident at the Trump International Golf Course, where former President Trump was golfing,&#8221; the White House <a href="https://x.com/jeffmason1/status/1835396787718209993" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement.</p>
<p>&#8220;They are relieved to know that he is safe,&#8221; the White House added. &#8220;They will be kept regularly updated by their team.&#8221;</p>
<p>Harris, the Democratic Party&#8217;s presidential nominee, went head-to-head against Trump in their first and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-declares-he-wont-debate-kamala-again" target="_blank" rel="noopener">possibly final debate</a> last week. They are poised to face off in the 2024 election in November.</p>
