Trump Destroys Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal: ‘It’s Ridiculous, Crazy, Cost $100 Trillion, Not Going To Happen’

President Donald Trump laid into democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) “Green New Deal” during a Wednesday night interview on Fox News’ “Hannity,” calling the proposal “catastrophic.”

“What is your reaction, as you watch this New Green Deal and the comments of all these new candidates?” host Sean Hannity asked. “Do you have a new reaction to it?”

“Well, I don’t want to speak badly about the New Green Deal, Sean, because, frankly, I’m afraid they will stop using it, because I really do want to campaign against it,” Trump said. “It’s ridiculous, all right, it’s crazy. It will cost $100 trillion. Nobody knows what that means.”

“That means it’s more money than you have in the world,” Trump continued. “And it will be catastrophic. It’s not going to happen. It’s just talk.”

“The New Green Deal is ridiculous, but I don’t want to speak badly because I want them to keep going forward with it. I really look forward to campaigning, just a little bit early, just like Elizabeth Warren,” Trump added. “I hit her too hard, too early, and now it looks like she’s finished. I wish she would have been in the race and frankly, I would have loved to have run against her but I would say she’s probably finished.”

“But they have plenty left,” Trump concluded. “New Green Deal is going nowhere.”

A recent analysis from the American Action Forum estimated that Ocasio-Cortez’s plan would cost $93 trillion, and found that “its further expansion of the federal government’s role in some of the most basic decisions of daily life, however, would likely have a more lasting and damaging impact than its enormous price tag.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s plan has been opposed by numerous Democrats and recently failed to garner a single vote of support in the Senate when it was put to a vote.

The freshman congresswoman’s proposal has also been opposed by the AFL-CIO, America’s largest organized-labor group.

“We welcome the call for labor rights and dialogue with labor, but the Green New Deal resolution is far too short on specific solutions that speak to the jobs of our members and the critical sections of our economy,” the AFL-CIO Energy Committee wrote in a letter. “It is not rooted in an engineering-based approach and makes promises that are not achievable or realistic.”

“We will not accept proposals that could cause immediate harm to millions of our members and their families,” the letter continued. “We will not stand by and allow threats to our members’ jobs and their families’ standard of living go unanswered.”

The Green New Deal experienced a disastrous rollout as Ocasio-Cortez uploaded a FAQ document on her congressional webpage that outlined the extreme nature of the proposal. The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro wrote:

How bad is the Green New Deal paper? Putting aside the fact that, as written, it would receive a C+ in any high school English class, it essentially articulates a magical world in which the skies rain chocolate, the world is powered by unicorn farts, and AOC dances through the gumdrop meadows to Lisztomania. The proposal calls for the United States to be free of carbon emissions within 10 years without the use of nuclear power. It calls for every building in the United States to be replaced or retrofitted in green fashion. It calls for universal healthcare, free college education, the replacement of airplanes with high-speed trains, charging stations “everywhere” (this is the sort of exactness the proposal contains), replacement of “every combustion-engine vehicle,” government-provided jobs, family and medical leave, vacations, retirement security, and the abolition of “farting cows.” It also calls for total “economic security” for anyone “unable or unwilling to work.”
