Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) gave a major hint on Tuesday about which Clinton associate was feeding allegations to the author of the infamous anti-Trump dossier that was used to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on a member of the Trump campaign.
During an interview on Fox News’ “The Story” with host Martha MacCallum, Gowdy suggested that longtime Clinton friend Sidney Blumenthal was behind the allegations.
MacCallum asked Gowdy if he knew anything about “a source who gave information to an unnamed associate of Hillary and Bill Clinton who then gave information to an unnamed official in the Obama State Department who then gave the information to Steele.”
Gowdy responded, “When you hear who the source, one of the sources of that information is, you’re going to think, ‘Oh, my gosh, I’ve heard that name somewhere before. Where could it possibly have been?'”
“I’m trying to think of how Secretary Clinton defined him,” Gowdy continued. “I think she said he was an old friend who emailed her from time to time.”
When asked if he was referring to Blumenthal, Gowdy responded, “That would be really warm. You’re warm. Yeah.”
