Colorado two-way star football player Travis Hunter has befriended the player from rival Colorado State whose cheap shot against Hunter earlier in the season led to a serious injury that has kept Hunter out of Colorado’s last two games.

Colorado State defensive back Henry Blackburn was flagged for a late hit on Hunter during the September 16 matchup between the two schools, which Colorado won in double overtime.

Hunter suffered a lacerated liver from the hit and later had to leave the game and was taken to the hospital.

Before the game was even over, Blackburn and his family began facing serious death threats and Colorado State had to beef up security around the team as a result.

Hunter is a Heisman Trophy caliber athlete and numerous top NFL analysts project him to be an early 1st Round NFL draft pick when he comes out.

Hunter said that he did not like seeing Blackburn attacked over the hit and that he does not like seeing negativity and bashing online.

“It’s not good,” he said. “It’s not good for the community. If we was all nice to each other, the world would be 10 times better. That’s how I feel. And that’s how I look at it. And that’s why I don’t get mad.”

The two later went bowling together for charity with each donating $1,000 and the winner of the event determining where the money was donated.

Hunter and his bowling partner won the game, but he let Blackburn and his partner determine where the money was given. Blackburn selected “Realities For Children, which helps abused and at-risk children and has locations near both the Colorado State and Colorado campuses,” ESPN reported.
