The son of a Brooklyn deliveryman has been charged with the murder of his father and the critical wounding of his sister after claiming the attack was the result of a home invasion.

Nikki Secondino, 22, a biological man who identifies as a woman, has been charged with the murder of his father, Carlo Secondino, 61, at the family home in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Carlo Secondino died at the scene. Nikki Secondino also allegedly stabbed his 19-year-old sister Liana, 19, who remains in critical condition at Maimonides Hospital.

“Her bloody fingerprints are all over my door from when she was banging on the door, hoping I would open it,” neighbor Susie Lew, 61, told The New York Post of the suspect. “And then when she stopped the banging and I didn’t hear any more movement in the hallway, I slowly opened my door and heard the father yell my name out — ‘Susie, call the cops!’”

According to police, they arrived at the scene to discover Carlo and Liana with multiple stab wounds while Nikki only had wounds on his hands.

“He was lying on the kitchen floor, blood all over his chest, completely all saturated and red. He was just lying there not moving,” Lew recalled.

One neighbor said, “I saw the blood in the hallway so I immediately closed my door and I didn’t want to get involved.”

“I know that there was always fights. He was always working here all day, but during the day he would always say she’s crazy, she’s got some issues, problems, she doesn’t want to work,” said Yadira Gomez, who co-owns Mike’s Diner, where Carlo Secondino worked. “She was fighting him yesterday and he told the other girl, ‘Go to your friend’s house. Don’t stay here,’ because he was worried.”

“These girls were abandoned by their mom when they were little, so he was the only one there as a mother figure and father figure,” Gomez said. “Everybody loved that guy here. It’s a big loss for everybody. He would work. He never said no to nothing, helped everybody.”

In a YouTube video discussing his identity and “transition,” Nikki Secondino stated of his parents, “They kind of accepted me as their second daughter, slowly but surely It kind of went from that, my body changing, to my name. My name was Nicholas.”

Secondino also spoke of people who criticized his parents for going along with the change in identity and his father’s defense of it: “My dad is very Italian … he’s religious, but he says ‘If you think that everything in the Bible is true, then you must be crazy. If you think that Mary, the mother of Jesus, got impregnated by some supernatural force without human sperm and you’re gonna tell me how to raise my child,  no thank you.’ So my dad had a strong personality, he didn’t let it [the criticism] affect it.”
