Actor and host of “The Comments Section” Brett Cooper chatted with fans Tuesday during an Instagram Live about her anticipated starring role in The Daily Wire/Bentkey’s live-action film “Snow White and the Evil Queen.”

The Daily Wire announced Monday it will make its own adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairytale. The film, which is set to release in 2024, will be the first feature-length production of its newly-launched kids entertainment platform, Bentkey.

“It feels so great to finally tell you guys about this super-secret project,” Cooper told viewers. “I was raised just on Grimm’s fairy tales. I love Grimms, so I love the original ‘Snow White and the Evil Queen.’ The story has the most amazing values.”

Cooper also revealed that, yes, she is indeed singing in the film’s teaser clip, which was released Monday.

“Yes, that actually is me singing,” she answered one fan’s question. “That is the first time that I have sung musical theater-style music in many, many years. I started in musical theater. Actually, my first professional job was singing opera with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.”

Cooper, who started professionally acting at just age 8, told viewers that she had “shut off” acting and singing after the pandemic. “I walked away from acting after the COVID years,” she explained. “I was so bitter about the entertainment industry, and about Hollywood. I felt burned out because I had been a professional actor since I was 8 years old – I loved it, but I felt burned during college, then I didn’t get vaccinated and … felt blacklisted in a lot of ways.”

The YouTube sensation explained that, out of her frustration, she “lied” to herself and told herself she never needed to act again. Things changed when Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing asked Cooper to act in both “Snow White and the Evil Queen” and The Daily Wire’s “The Pendragon Cycle.”

While “The Comments Section” filled a void in a lot of ways, Cooper said, acting in the two films has reignited her passion and love of acting. “It has been the thrill of a lifetime,” she said.

“I am just, incredibly, incredibly lucky to work with such an amazing team of creatives. I cannot say that enough,” Cooper gushed. “I trust them completely.”

When another fan inquired about Cooper’s acting experience in Hollywood, versus working with The Daily Wire, she responded, “In a lot of ways, it’s very similar. The caliber is very similar, the attitude of production is similar, the caliber of the people we’re working with is up to par – I would argue even better than what they’re doing.”

“But, as an actor, it is so freeing [to work with Daily Wire] because I don’t feel like I’m censoring myself at all,” she said, adding that the conservative company is not trying to “appease anybody” or “check any boxes” like Hollywood now does.

It’s also a “bit more gritty” working here, Cooper said, “because we’re not just fighting to create a movie or a TV show, we’re fighting to create … something much bigger. I love it. I think it’s the perfect combination.”

As to what she’s looking forward to the most with “Snow White and the Evil Queen,” Cooper said she’s excited to push herself creatively, particularly with the singing: “I think I’m flexing different muscles than I have been in the last couple of years. … It will be a new challenge, it will be super fulfilling.”

“But on a grander scale,” she added, “I’m just so excited to bring this story to you guys. The values in the original ‘Snow White’ story are so wonderful and so timeless, and so true. I think that those are values that are missing a lot in our culture today. I’m very excited for you guys to be watching something that is beautifully shot, and beautifully written, and experiencing that along with all of us.”

Toward the end of the livestream, Cooper was asked by a viewer if Bentkey is going to do more live-action films.

“This is just the beginning,” she responded, “so get excited.”
