Robert Downey Jr. FaceTimed longtime friend Johnny Depp to congratulate the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star for winning his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard.

A jury recently found that Heard defamed Depp in an op-ed about domestic violence published by The Washington Post in 2018, awarding him a total of $15 million in monetary damages, though it was dropped to a total of $10.35 million due to Virginia law.

Josh Richman, a close friend to Depp, said during a live-streamed charity event for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles that Downey congratulated Depp after the verdict.

“John, thank God it’s over,” Downey told Depp on the FaceTime call, Richman said.

The call has been confirmed by a spokesperson for Depp, the New York Post reported.

Back in May, unverified rumors circulated that Downey wanted Depp to be cast in “Sherlock Holmes 3,” according to FandomWire.

“There is no confirmed report regarding the cast of ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ but several reports have speculated that Downey Jr is trying hard to get Depp into the movie,” Meaww noted, adding that FandomWire reported Downey “always wanted to work with famous personalities. And big talks are going on about Johnny Depp might come ahead to sign the contract for the movie.”

Lopper noted in April that some of the “Sherlock Holmes 3” is “a bit of a mystery.”

“So far there has been no word on whether supporting characters like Inspector Lestrade (Eddie Marsan), Watson’s wife, Mary (Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly), or even Sherlock’s older brother, Mycroft (Stephen Fry), will return for the next installment in the exceptionally fun franchise,” the report said.

Richman also said that Depp did not intend to have ex-girlfriend Kate Moss testify during the defamation trial, but things changed after Heard took the stand and invoked the model’s name.

“Heard mentioned Moss’ name during her testimony and the notoriously private model was ‘pissed’ and was ‘like, f*** this,'” Richman said, according to the Post.

Moss’ “goddaughter was like did Johnny Depp push you down the stairs?” he continued. “She was like ‘no.’”

When the trial concluded, Depp released a statement saying the verdict gave him his “life back” and took aim at the media for helping Heard peddle a false narrative about him.

“False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me,” Depp said. “It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career.”
