The movie, which stars Al Pacino, recently wrapped production with Depp releasing a statement afterward calling the chance to work behind the camera again &#8220;an incredibly fulfilling and transformative experience.&#8221;

The same jury also awarded the &#8220;Zombieland&#8221; actress $2 million for her defamation claim after she won one of the three countersuit claims she had against Depp&#8217;s lawyer in the case.

An Australian court has decided not to pursue perjury charges against actress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/amber-heard-files-notice-of-intent-to-appeal-verdict-in-johnny-depp-defamation-trial" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amber Heard</a> following allegations that she lied about how her and her ex-husband <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/johnny-depp-comeback-in-full-swing-after-landing-multi-year-seven-figure-deal-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Johnny Depp&#8217;s</a> Yorkshire terriers got into that country in 2015.
The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions has decided against charging the 37-year-old actress with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/amber-heard-is-being-investigated-for-potential-perjury-in-2015-dog-smuggling-incident" target="_blank" rel="noopener">perjury</a> for allegedly lying in 2016 about being unaware of the nation&#8217;s strict animal quarantine regulations. In 2015, Heard was accused of breaking Australia&#8217;s quarantine regulations when she did not declare that she was bringing her dogs to the country upon arrival. When the pups were discovered, the &#8220;Aquaman&#8221; star was charged with two counts of illegally importing the dogs into the country and one count of producing a false document, a spokesman for the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions told <a href="https://people.com/amber-heard-will-not-face-new-charges-over-alleged-illegal-import-of-2-dogs-into-australia-7775516" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People</a>.
In 2016, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/amber-heard-under-foreign-criminal-investigation-in-smuggling-case-told-others-to-lie-to-authorities-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Heard</a> pleaded guilty to providing a false immigration document. A judge sentenced her to a one-month good behavior bond, while the charges of illegally importing the dogs into Australia were dropped, <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/australian-prosecutors-drop-case-actor-amber-heard-pet-102473762" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC News</a> noted.
At the time, Heard&#8217;s lawyer denied his client had intended to lie when she did not declare her dogs and instead was simply jet lagged and assumed her assistants had taken care of the paperwork.

However, during Depp&#8217;s London libel trial against The Sun newspaper in 2020, the actor and Heard&#8217;s former employee <a href="https://people.com/amber-heard-will-not-face-new-charges-over-alleged-illegal-import-of-2-dogs-into-australia-7775516" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> the actress had known about Australia&#8217;s quarantine rules, ignored them, and put pressure on a staff member to take the blame for breaking the laws, the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/australia-amber-heard-yorkshire-terriers-16f94ee9f78884845dad38e433d4114a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associated Press</a> reported.
The discrepancy in the account of how Heard&#8217;s pups got into the country caused prosecutors to look into whether Heard had provided false testimony and lied about her knowledge of Australia&#8217;s laws. The investigation also delved into whether an employee had falsified a statutory declaration under duress, the AP noted.
&#8220;The department collaborated with agencies, both in Australia and overseas, to investigate these claims against Ms Heard,&#8221; the department said in their statement to People. &#8220;A brief of evidence was referred to the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, who has made the decision not to prosecute in this instance having applied the Prosecution Policy of the Commonwealth.&#8221;

&#8220;On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck&#8217;s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family asks for privacy while they process this tremendous loss,&#8221; the statement read.
According to a <a href="https://people.com/music/johnny-depp-was-by-jeff-beck-bedside-when-he-died-totally-devastated-source/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> published by People Magazine, Depp &#8220;is totally devastated&#8221; by the loss of his friend, longtime collaborator, and performing partner.
&#8220;They had a really tight friendship, they were extremely close, and he got even closer over this past summer when they were touring together. The sickness came on really quickly and it all deteriorated rapidly in the last couple weeks,&#8221; a source told People, adding, &#8220;Johnny is still processing this news. He&#8217;s devastated.&#8221;
The two even released an album — &#8220;18&#8221; and an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maa1xTKu7aQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">official music video</a> for &#8220;This is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr,&#8221; the album&#8217;s first single.
The &#8220;Pirates of the Caribbean&#8221; star had nothing but praise for Beck, saying, &#8220;It&#8217;s an extraordinary honor to play and write music with Jeff, one of the true greats and someone I am now privileged enough to call my brother.&#8221;
And the respect appeared to go both ways — Beck reflected on their collaboration and said that his only concern was that people who knew Depp as an actor might struggle to wrap their brains around Depp as a rock musician.
&#8220;I haven&#8217;t had another creative partner like him for ages. He was a major force on this record,&#8221; Beck said of Depp. &#8220;I just hope people will take him seriously as a musician because it&#8217;s a hard thing for some people to accept that Johnny Depp can sing rock and roll.&#8221;

Vasquez became a household name after she helped actor <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/yes-johnny-depp-is-dating-his-attorney-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Johnny Depp</a> win his defamation case against his former spouse, actress Amber Heard — and <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/johnny-depp-lawyer-camille-vasquez-nbc-news-tv-analyst-1235293358/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to</a> The Hollywood Reporter, at least three national news outlets had expressed interest in working with her after the trial came to a close.

Vasquez weighed in on the impact that social media has had on <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/theres-someone-here-horrifying-details-emerge-of-what-happened-during-slaughter-of-4-idaho-students/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Idaho case</a> — noting that the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial had often played out on social media even as it was playing out in the courtroom — and she said that while social media can play a vital role in the investigation, it also has its liabilities.
In the Idaho case in particular, social media sleuths have claimed to have <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/01/08/online-sleuths-claim-idaho-murder-suspect-bryan-kohberger-attended-victims-vigil/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spotted the suspect</a> in photos from a vigil for the slain students — and <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/tiktok-personality-gets-sued-after-accusing-professor-of-murdering-4-students-at-university-of-idaho/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused a teacher</a> of being involved, sparking a lawsuit.
&#8220;This has become something that really captivated the country, this case has. And so people want to talk about the evidence, they want to talk about the human impact, and these are college students, right?&#8221; Vasquez began, explaining that people were drawn to the case partly because the victims were college students and the unexplained nature of the attacks — at least thus far — made it seem as though it could have happened to anyone.
&#8220;I think it can be helpful to investigators, they pleaded to the public and asked for information about the [murder suspect’s] white Elantra,&#8221; Vasquez added. &#8220;But it could also be harmful when you start naming someone.&#8221;
In addition to receiving media offers after her big win on Depp&#8217;s behalf, Vasquez was promoted to partner at her law firm, Brown Rudnick, and reportedly received job offers from other firms as well. Heard and Depp ultimately settled the case last month, eliminating the possibility of any further appeals.

Even though <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/johnny-depp">Johnny Depp</a> insists he’d never return to Disney’s “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">Pirates of the Caribbean</a>” franchise, producer Jerry Bruckheimer just said he’d “love” for the actor to star in another sequel.
Bruckheimer addressed the issue during a recent <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/jerry-bruckheimer-interview-career-top-gun-maverick-sequels-1235282900/">interview</a> with The Hollywood Reporter. 
&#8220;I would love to have him in the movie. He&#8217;s a friend, a terrific actor and it&#8217;s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do,&#8221; the 79-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">studio executive</a> confirmed. 
The interviewer asked whether Disney would agree to have Depp “front and center&#8221; after he won the defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. The actor was allegedly let go from the franchise after Heard’s abuse claims went public.
&#8220;You&#8217;d have to ask them,” he replied. “I can&#8217;t answer that question. I really don&#8217;t know.” Bruckheimer did say that it would be impossible to lose the film’s most popular character. As for whether they were planning to kill off Jack Sparrow, he said, &#8220;You can&#8217;t. We tried to kill him. It didn&#8217;t work.&#8221;
But even if Bruckheimer would have him, it seems unlikely that Depp would return to the franchise so easily. The actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/this-is-made-up-johnny-depps-rep-denies-rumors-hell-return-to-pirates-of-the-caribbean-franchise">testified under oath</a> during the defamation trial that he “would not take another ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise role for $300 million and a million alpacas.” 
He had previously expressed hurt and anger over being dropped by Disney when the abuse claims went public.
“Captain Jack Sparrow was a character I built from the ground up and was something that I, of course, put a lot of [myself] into the character and also having worked on these films with these people and added much of myself, much of my own re-writing of the dialogue and scenes and jokes,” Depp said at the time.
“I didn’t quite understand how, after that long relationship and quite a successful relationship certainly for Disney, that suddenly I was guilty until proven innocent,” he continued. 
Depp’s rep denied rumors from earlier this year that he was returning to “Pirates.”

According to a <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/12/19/amber-heard-paying-1-million-settle-johnny-depp-defamation-case/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from entertainment website TMZ, Heard will pay $1 million to Depp in order to settle the case permanently after she was ordered over the summer to pay him 10 times that amount. The report indicated that the payment is likely to come from Heard&#8217;s insurance company rather than her own bank account, however.
Heard released a lengthy statement addressing the settlement, sharing it publicly via Instagram:

&#8220;It&#8217;s important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed,&#8221; Heard began, claiming that the backlash she had received on social media was sexist and only proved that women who come forward to claim that they are victims of domestic violence are re-victimized by the court of public opinion.
&#8220;I have made no admission. This is not an act of concession,&#8221; she insisted, going on to claim that because the American court had decided against her, the British justice system — which &#8220;vindicated&#8221; her — was the only system of the two that functioned properly.
Heard argued that the U.S. court had thrown out good evidence that would have proven her claims, saying that the entire process had humiliated her and had proven that the in the American court system, &#8220;popularity and power mattered more than reason and due process.&#8221; Her decision to settle, she said, was borne solely out of her desire to avoid going through the process a third time.
&#8220;For too many years I have been caged in an arduous and expensive legal process, which has shown itself unable to protect me and my right to free speech,&#8221; Heard continued, adding that she intended to spend her time with her daughter and repeating her claim that the system was slanted against female victims. &#8220;Women shouldn’t have to face abuse or bankruptcy for speaking her truth, but unfortunately it is not uncommon.&#8221;
&#8220;I will not be threatened, disheartened or dissuaded by what happened from speaking the truth. No one can and no one will take that from me. My voice forever remains the most valuable asset I have,&#8221; she asserted.
Heard testified at length during her Virginia trial over the summer, but the jury did not find her testimony to be <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/crocodile-tears-juror-reveals-what-tipped-the-scales-in-johnny-depp-amber-heard-trial/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">credible</a> and sided mostly with Depp.
Depp has not yet commented on the settlement.

Actress Amber Heard has countersued her insurance company after the company asked a judge to let them out of the multi-million dollar policy the actress took out to protect her from defamation claims following her trial against ex Johnny Depp and the verdict against her.
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/amber-heard" target="_blank" rel="noopener">36-year-old</a> actress filed a lawsuit against the New York Marine and General Insurance Company after it reached out to a judge to get out of paying the $8.3 million Heard owes Depp after their highly publicized defamation trial, <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/11/22/amber-heard-countersues-insurance-company-depp-verdict-policy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ</a> reported.
New York Marine told the judge that after a jury found the actress had committed &#8220;willful misconduct&#8221; in her defamation of Depp — under the California law — they wouldn&#8217;t have to cover Heard because a jury found she had committed a willful act.

In court documents obtained by the outlet, the &#8220;Aquaman&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/amber-heard-files-notice-of-intent-to-appeal-verdict-in-johnny-depp-defamation-trial" target="_blank" rel="noopener">star</a> argued that the policy had an &#8220;unconditional deal,&#8221; which meant that New York Marine would have to pay her defense costs and judgments up to a million dollars, regardless, the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11458181/Amber-Heard-says-million-dollar-insurance-policy-cover-Johnny-Depp-verdict.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Mail</a> reported. She is suing the insurer for &#8220;breach of contract&#8221; and more.
New York Marine wants the actress to pay them $621,693 in exchange for their contribution to Heard&#8217;s defense fund because the insurance company claimed its lawyers were kept out of some of the legal proceedings. The outlet noted, the insurers are now suing the actress to get out of paying for the libel settlement.

Amber Heard Countersues Insurance Company Over Depp Verdict

“Suicide Squad” actress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Margot Robbie</a> recently announced that Disney’s female-led “Pirates of the Caribbean” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">movie</a> is no longer being made.
The 32-year-old provided the update during a recent Vanity Fair cover story <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2022/11/margot-robbie-cover-babylon-star-on-navigating-hollywood">interview</a>. 
“We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led — not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story — which we thought would’ve been really cool,” Robbie told the publication about the canceled project. “But I guess they don’t want to do it.”
The announcement was made in June 2020 that Robbie would star in the female-focused “Pirates” spinoff, which was to be written by her “Birds of Prey” screenwriter Christina Hodson.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer mentioned the plans in May during an <a href="https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-inside-story-of-the-making-of-top-gun-maverick-cs79gww36">interview</a> with The Sunday Times. At the time, he said Robbie’s version was in the works, and leading actor Johnny Depp, who played Captain Jack Sparrow in the franchise, was not part of the cast for any upcoming projects. 
“Yes. We’re talking to Margot Robbie. We are developing two ‘Pirates’ scripts — one with her, one without,” Bruckheimer said of the franchise’s future. “[Will Depp be back?] Not at this point. The future is yet to be decided.”
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise brought in $1.5 billion domestically and $3.07 billion internationally since the first film’s debut in 2003. Depp became the face of the films and the most popular character, but the studio allegedly dropped him after his ex Amber Heard made public claims of abuse against Depp.
While Bruckheimer seemed open to Depp re-joining the cast in the future, the actor didn’t appear ready to forgive and forget anytime soon. 
“Captain Jack Sparrow was a character I built from the ground up and was something that I, of course, put a lot of [myself] into the character and also having worked on these films with these people and added much of myself, much of my own re-writing of the dialogue and scenes and jokes,” he said, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/this-is-made-up-johnny-depps-rep-denies-rumors-hell-return-to-pirates-of-the-caribbean-franchise">reported</a>. 
“I didn’t quite understand how, after that long relationship and quite a successful relationship certainly for Disney, that suddenly I was guilty until proven innocent,” he said.
Depp’s rep denied rumors that he was considering joining any upcoming “Pirates” projects. While Robbie’s version is likely not being made, there is still a chance that the other upcoming reboot written by franchise veteran Ted Elliott and “Chernobyl” creator Craig Mazin is still on the docket.
