T.J. Holmes’s estranged wife, Marilee Fiebig, is speaking out for the first time since his romantic relationship with his “Good Morning America” co-host Amy Robach started making headlines.
Fiebig’s divorce lawyer, Stephanie Lehman, released a statement to the Daily Mail this week.
“During the holiday season and in light of the challenging times, Marilee’s sole focus has remained on the overall best interest of her 9-year-old daughter,” Fiebig shared in the update via her attorney.
“To that end T.J.’s lawyer and I have been working together to move their divorce forward privately, expeditiously and as amicably as possible. Notwithstanding, we continue to be disappointed by T.J’s lack of discretion, respect and sensitivity toward Marilee and the party’s daughter.”
The statement concluded with a message for supporters, saying Feibig “has been touched by the outpouring of support” and is looking forward “to a new beginning in this new year.”
Holmes and Fiebig have been married for 12 years. Meanwhile, Robach and her husband, former Melrose Place actor Andrew Shue, have been married for the same amount of time.
The scandal erupted in late November when reports revealed the affair between the “GMA” co-hosts. The situation became so extreme that they were suspended from their jobs.
“They had been close friends for many years but this relationship started over the past few months, after they separated from their respective spouses in August. They had not told anyone, even at ABC, because they were waiting until they both were divorced,” a representative for Holmes and Robach stated, per The New York Times.
Holmes and Robach have since been spotted together multiple times and seem to still be involved with each other. They were caught on camera kissing on December 30 and were most recently seen visiting a Miami convenience store together.
The co-hosts made light of the situation while they were still employed and just after the news broke of their respective affairs. As The Daily Wire previously reported, they made little jokes on the show the same week their relationship was revealed.
“You know, it’s too bad it’s Friday. It’s been a great week,” Holmes said, which made Robach laugh and reply, “Is it?”
“I just want this one to keep going and going and going,” Holmes replied. “Just enjoy it. Take it all in.”
“Speak for yourself. I’m excited about the weekend. And I’m sure everyone else is, too,” Robach said. “We all love our Fridays around here. Some of us do, at least.”
