Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg Announces She Won’t Sleep Through State Of The Union — At Least Not In Person

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will not attend President Trump’s first State of the Union address on Tuesday. Instead, on a day when the sitting president delivers one of his most important speeches to a joint gathering of Congress — a tradition stretching back to George Washington — Ginsberg will be giving a talk to a rinky-dink college in Rhode Island.

But maybe it’s just as well. Ginsberg, 84, famously slept through former president Barack Obama’s SOTU speech in 2015. She later admitted she wasn’t “100 percent sober.”

“The audience, for the most part, is awake because they are bobbing up and down and we sit there, stone faced,” Ginsburg said Thursday during an event hosted by The Smithsonian Associates in Washington, D.C., according to CNN.

“But we’re not, at least I was not, 100 percent sober.”

As liberals do, Ginsberg blamed someone else for her actions. She said she and other justices attended a dinner party before the president’s address and that Justice Anthony Kennedy brought “very fine California wine.” She couldn’t remember how much she drank.

Ginsberg has bashed Trump in the past. In 2016 she called him a “faker.” In a decidedly undignified interview with The New York Times in July 2016, she said, “I can’t imagine what this place would be — I can’t imagine what the country would be with Donald Trump as our president. For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be — I don’t even want to contemplate that.”

She said if Trump won the election it would be “time for us to move to New Zealand.” Of course, like all the other liberal elites who vowed to leave America if Trump won, she stayed put.

Trump fired back on Twitter, saying Ginsberg wasn’t mentally sound and that she should step down.
