Stacey Abrams, Georgia’s Democratic candidate for governor, said this week that she was “sick and tired of hearing about the free market being the solution” to health care problems while speaking in Atlanta.
Abrams made the remarks at a “Men’s town hall” on Sunday, where she claimed that in a “thriving and diverse economy, we can educate bold and ambitious children but our fundamental responsibility is to take care of the least of these, especially when the least of these are working families who only want a little bit of access to healthcare.”
“And I am sick and tired of hearing about the free market being the solution to this problem because I’ve never seen the free market write a prescription in rural Georgia,” Abrams continued. “I mean, I’ve never seen the free market show up and give someone Metformin so they can have a little bit of control of their diabetes before it turns into an amputation of their foot. I’ve never seen the free market say I’m going to replace that stint in your heart next door and not make you go 200 miles to get it done.”
“The problem with the free market is the free market needs to make a profit and there is no profit in doing the right thing,” the far-left candidate concluded.

“Stacey Abrams has already made a name for herself by embracing the radical far-left, but now she’s openly attacking the free market,” Republican Governors Association communications director Jon Thompson said. “What will she attack next, Democracy? She’s too extreme for Georgia.”
Abrams has recently come under fire over a variety of recent comments that she has made and for things she did in her college years.
Earlier this month, Abrams said that illegal aliens were going to be part of the Democrats’ “blue wave” in the upcoming midterm elections in November.
“The thing of it is, the blue wave is African American. It is white. It is Latino. It is Asian-Pacific Islander,” Abrams said. “It is made up of those who’ve been told that they are not worthy of being here. It is comprised of those who are documented and undocumented.”
Abrams came under scrutiny late on Monday night after a photo of her burning Georgia’s state flag, which at the time partially incorporated the Confederate battle flag, reemerged from her college days.
In a separate report, the Free Beacon noted that Abrams has been subject to attacks from political ads “over a decision to loan her campaign $50,000 while owing over $54,000 to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).”
