Gordon Chang, author of “The Great U.S.-China Tech War” and fellow at the Gatestone Institute, called out the Biden administration’s responses to China and warned tensions could get “out of control” if a harder stance isn’t taken during an interview Sunday.
Appearing on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with host Maria Bartiromo, Chang warned that recent actions taken by China, including sending a spy balloon to traverse the American homeland and recent reports that the CCP is operating police stations on American soil, show that the communist nation is becoming more aggressive – with little pushback from the Biden administration.
“The Chinese have been running around our country for decades, Chinese consular officials, ministry of state security agents, openly violating our sovereignty, committing crimes and getting away with it,” Chang told Bartiromo when asked about reports of additional Chinese police stations in the U.S. “So of course they thought they could open up six locations. We have got to stop this.”
“Look, spy balloons, police stations, fentanyl: The Chinese think they can do whatever they want in our territory, and if we don’t stop them now, this is going to get out of control,” he added.
Last week, federal law enforcement officials arrested two New York residents for allegedly running an illegal “police station” for China in New York City. According to a report from the New York Post, there are potentially six more of these across the country, including in Los Angeles, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
Chang criticized the Biden administration, claiming it has the wrong perspective on the communist nation and fails to understand the current climate. He argued that every time Biden is asked about topics related to China, including the origins of COVID, Biden fails to answer questions and “shuts them off.”
“That is, I think, a matter of grave concern to the American people because the president of the United States has made it clear that he really doesn’t want to defend us,” Chang said.
Jonathan D.T. Ward, a China expert and author of “China’s Vision of Victory,” was also interviewed by Bartiromo and said Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s recent call for a “constructive” relationship with China involving joint leadership and an economic partnership was “all wrong.” Ward argued that Yellen’s speech showed a “lack of vision.”

“Maybe somebody needs to explain to Secretary Yellen how the CCP is investing the money that they’ve earned from three decades worth of economic engagement,” Ward said, explaining that China has built the largest Navy and missile forces in the world in addition to making clear their intention to economically overtake the United States. Ward said the United States needs a “real” strategy to economically contain China.
