According to a Congressional report which was sent to the Attorney General of New Mexico, an abortion clinic in New Mexico that worked closely with the University of New Mexico may have given the University aborted babies’ brains for students at a summer camp to dissect.
The Congressional Select Panel on Infant Lives sent sections from a lab technician’s notebook at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNMHSC) to the attorney general, Hector Balderas. The notebook contained details about the work that University health technicians performed and what they were provided by the abortion facility. The letter from Marsha Blackburn, the panel’s chair, stated:
Laboratory notes produced to the Panel reveal that a UNMHSC employee has collected aborted infant tissue collected from SWWO an average of 39 times a year. Organs harvested include brains/head, heart, lung, eyes/retina, kidney, spleen, adrenal gland, intestines, bone marrow, and stomach … The notes contain information on aborted infants whose gestations ranged from approximately 11.5 to 30.5 weeks, with many in the 14 to 18 week range. At least 20 aborted infants were past 20 weeks gestation. The infants described included infants with “clubbed feet,” aborted at 16 weeks gestation, a 22.5 week aborted infant with Down Syndrome, gestation, 20 week aborted twins with intact brains, a 25.3 week aborted female infant with an orofacial cleft, and a 30.5 week aborted “intact” infant.
The letter also states, “The lab tech wrote in May 2012 that someone from UNMHSC ‘asked clinic for digoxin treated tissue 24-28 wks. for methylation study & because [redacted] wants whole, fixed brains to dissect w/ summer camp students.’”
According to the lab tech, the students dissecting the babies had no feeling for the babies, “Stomach broken – no panc” (short for pancreas) was written with a frowning face. “ENTIRE PANCREAS – whoo hoo!!” was another remark.
Lila Rose, president and founder of Live Action, wrote a furious response to the news of what had occurred:
The select panel’s gruesome discovery that summer camp students were given whole brains of viable aborted children to dissect shows the barbaric nature of the abortion industry and the total disrespect for basic human rights that its allies share. At 24-28 weeks old, many of these babies could have survived outside the womb; instead, they were aborted by Southwestern Women’s Options and their body parts given to students to carve up. This unimaginable inhumane activity — as well as Southwestern Women’s Options and the University of New Mexico, which facilitated it — must be unanimously condemned.
As horrific as this is, we must admit that it’s no stretch for an industry to traffic in the bodies of the children it kills — after all, the killing and dismembering of these viable children in utero is the greater crime against humanity. The piecemealing and experimentation on their corpses adds insult to the already grave human rights injury of abortion.
