Following the stunning election of Republican Donald Trump, leftists took to the streets to “protest” the democratic election by destroying liberal cities, committing acts of arson, assaulting Trump supporters and crashing car windows, along with other acts supposedly promoting their ironic “love trumps hate” mantra. In response, the left-wing mainstream media have clung to rumors of “hate crimes” committed by Trump supporters. One problem: most of these “crimes” have turned out out to be complete hoaxes.
Exhibit A: A reported “hate crime” committed in the name of President-elect Donald Trump against an openly bisexual Chicago college student has “sadly” been deemed a hoax by the university president himself.
North Park University student Taylor Volk claimed she received emails and notes taped to her door containing homophobic slurs, threatening language and mention of President-elect Trump.
Volk said she found one such note on Friday morning, which included “Back to hell,” and “#Trump” written on it, as well as homophobic slurs. The student suspected the messages were from a Trump supporter on campus.
“This is a countrywide epidemic all of a sudden,” she told NBC Chicago.
North Park senior Kelsey Stevens also chimed in, noting that the hateful messages were likely from a Trump supporter “emboldened” by his victory.
“The fact that somebody reached out to do this to her specifically is shocking,” said Stevens. “I think those who have those feelings have been emboldened by this election.”
But wait: the messages were “fabricated.”
President David L. Parkyn informed North Park students of their findings via an online “campus message.”
“I’m writing today to notify our community that this incident has been fully investigated and resolved,” he wrote. “Sadly, we discovered that the incident and related messages were fabricated; the individual responsible for the incident is not continuing as a student at North Park.”
Why it’s “sad” that no hate crime was actually committed is a mystery.
“We are confident there is no further threat of repeated intolerance to any member of our campus community stemming from this recent incident,” added the school president.
Such hate crime hoaxes are quite common on the left (click here to view just 11 of them), but there seems to have been an uptick in hoaxes following the election of Trump.
As reported by The Daily Wire earlier this month, for instance, a female Muslim college student at the University of Louisiana claimed she was assaulted and robbed by two white male Trump supporters, apparently sporting white “Trump” hats during the incident. This turned out to be a hoax, with the accuser herself later confessing that this incident never happened. Further, as noted by The College Fix, Bowling Green State University found two racial incident reports following the election to have been fabricated, as well.
