Scottish Law Student Being Investigated For Hate Crime Because He Mocked ISIS

Hank Berrien

A law student at Edinburgh University is being investigated for a supposed “hate crime” because he mocked ISIS, calling its members “barbarians.” The student also believes he was targeted in revenge for highlighting that a former leader of an ethnic minority student group at the university, who is black, had referred to black men as “trash.”

Edinburgh law student Robbie Travers, 21, has been outspoken on social media. In one Facebook post last April, after the U.S. Air Force dropped a “massive ordnance air bomb” on an ISIS stronghold in Afghanistan, he wrote, “Excellent news that the US administration and Trump ordered an accurate strike on an IS network of tunnels in Afghanistan. I’m glad we could bring these barbarians a step closer to collecting their 72 virgins.”
