Actor Scott Baio, most famous for his starring roles in Happy Days and Charles In Charge, went on Fox New’s Justice with Judge Jeanine Pierro to discuss his endorsement of reality star and real estate mogul Donald Trump for president. When Pierro asked the TV star why he endorsed The Donald, Baio replied, “It’s very simple: because when he speaks I understand him. He speaks like I speak. He communicates with people very well.”
He added, “I want him, as any one person can do, to go into Washington and blow it up. I’m fed up. I’m done with them. I’m done with the Republicans. They’ve lied and conned and b.s.’d me for a very long time and I don’t even consider myself a Republican anymore. I’m a Conservative Independent.”
Baio goes on to make his case that Trump’s sharp tongue and strong man rhetoric is what it takes in the dirty politics of today.
“Listen, they’re going to attack whomever the Republican nominee is. And we need somebody to relentlessly, relentlessly attack Hillary, and that’s the only way we’re gonna win, because this getting above the fray and not getting in the dirt and ‘we’re better than that,’ it doesn’t work anymore. And I’m sorry. I try to be a good guy and a classy buy but to win elections nowadays, the Democrats and liberals attack viciously.”
When asked what he says to people who say Donald is divisive, Baio tells the Judge, “You can say anybody’s divisive. The things that he’s saying are the things that people are thinking and for me it’s just common sense stuff.”
Baio says he thinks Cruz is a great guy and Kasich, whom he’s met, is a good guy but when they get attacked they won’t have “the wherewithal to fight back” in the way that Trump can. He believes that for Trump to win he has to attack Hillary relentlessly.
The actor says that when he’s explaining to his Hollywood liberal leaning peers about the two opposing political world-views, he lays it out simply: “Conservatives want you to live your life. Liberals want you to live their life.”
Baio adds his name to the growing list of entertainers endorsing Trump including actors Jon Voight and Stephen Baldwin, rock stars Ted Nugent and Kid Rock, and reality TV star Willie Robertson of Duck Dynasty.
