<p>On Tuesday, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, which represents over three million people, <strong><a href="https://apnews.com/205c6ea34a254850a0f83936ddabc051?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&amp;utm_source=Twitter&amp;utm_medium=AP">voted to support a Trump administration lawsuit</a> </strong>targeting a California law limiting police collaboration with U.S. immigration agents.</p>
<p>That decision followed Monday night&#8217;s decision from the Orange County community of Los Alamitos to approve an ordinance that would exempt the city from the sanctuary law on the grounds it is unconstitutional. Los Alamitos can exempt itself because it is a <strong><a href="http://www.cacities.org/Resources/Charter-Cities">charter city</a>.</strong></p>
<p>In March, the Hesperia city council <strong><a href="http://www.vvdailypress.com/news/20180325/hesperia-discusses-sanctuary-exemption">voted</a></strong> to join an amicus brief with the Trump administration&#8217;s lawsuit.</p>
<p>In early March, the Trump Administration <strong><a href="http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/03/06/trump-doj-sues-california-over-interference-with-immigration-enforcement.html">filed suit</a></strong> against California, asserting that three of the state&#8217;s laws were deliberately interfering with federal immigration policies. One law gave additional worker protections against federal immigration enforcement actions. Another protected illegal immigrants by limiting state and municipal cooperation with the federal government, and a third gave state officials the power to monitor and inspect immigrant detention facilities run or contracted through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">Someone is impersonating President Trump’s chief of staff, Susie Wiles, in texts and phone calls — and the FBI is investigating.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Wiles, who is the first female chief of staff  in U.S. history, has revealed contacts were hacked from her personal, not her government, cellphone, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/federal-authorities-probe-effort-to-impersonate-white-house-chief-of-staff-65da0d59" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Wall Street Journal</a> reported. Other top officials in the Trump administration were contacted via the fake identity.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“The FBI takes all threats against the president, his staff, and our cybersecurity with the utmost seriousness,” FBI Director Kash Patel stated. “Safeguarding our administration officials’ ability to securely communicate to accomplish the president’s mission is a top priority.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Government officials believe that artificial intelligence was used in the fake messages.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“It became clear to some of the lawmakers that the requests were suspicious when the impersonator began asking questions about Trump that Wiles should have known the answers to—and in one case, when the impersonator asked for a cash transfer, some of the people said,” the Journal wrote. Another clue leading to suspicion was the broken grammar used by the impersonator.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">On May 15, the FBI issued a <a href="https://www.ic3.gov/PSA/2025/PSA250515" target="_blank" rel="noopener">public service announcement</a> regarding attempts to impersonate U.S. officials, stating:</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;"><em>Since April 2025, malicious actors have impersonated senior US officials to target individuals, many of whom are current or former senior US federal or state government officials and their contacts. If you receive a message claiming to be from a senior US official, do not assume it is authentic. The malicious actors have sent text messages and AI-generated voice messages — techniques known as smishing and vishing, respectively — that claim to come from a senior US official in an effort to establish rapport before gaining access to personal accounts.</em></p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;"><em>One way the actors gain such access is by sending targeted individuals a malicious link under the guise of transitioning to a separate messaging platform. Access to personal or official accounts operated by US officials could be used to target other government officials, or their associates and contacts, by using trusted contact information they obtain. Contact information acquired through social engineering schemes could also be used to impersonate contacts to elicit information or funds.</em></p>

FBI Investigating Attempt To Impersonate Trump Chief Of Staff In Texts, Phone Calls

<p style="font-weight: 400;">Support among Republicans for gay marriage has plummeted in the last three years, according to a new <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/691139/record-party-divide-years-sex-marriage-ruling.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gallup poll</a>.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Gallup’s poll released on Thursday found 41% of GOP voters support gay marriage, as opposed to 55% in 2021 and 2022. A whopping 88% of Democrats approved of gay marriage in the new poll; the 47-point gap between the two parties is the largest since Gallup first asked the question in 1996. Seventy-six percent of independents approve of gay marriage. In 1996, 16% of Republicans approved; 33% of Democrats and 32% of independents agreed.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">86% of Democrats said gay or lesbian relations are morally acceptable; 38% of Republicans agreed, a drop from 2022, when 56% of Republicans agreed. Among those who attend religious services at least once a week, 33% said same-sex marriage was morally acceptable and 24% said gay-lesbian relations were socially acceptable. Gallup polling between 2020-2023 <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/507692/church-attendance-lower-pre-pandemic.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found</a> that more Republicans attended weekly religious services than Democrats by 15 percentage points.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">When writing a <a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/22067323-dobbs-v-jackson-womens-health-organization-clarence-thomas-concurrence/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">concurring opinion</a> in <em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization</em>, the case that overturned <em>Roe v. Wade</em>, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas made the legal case for overturning <em>Griswold v. Connecticut, Lawrence v. Texas, and Obergefell v. Hodges</em>, the last of which guaranteed the right to gay marriage.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Thomas explained that the three cases relied on substantive due process, which he called “an oxymoron that lack[s] any basis in the Constitution.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Courts have used substantive due process to protect unenumerated rights not mentioned in the Constitution. The right to privacy and the right to gay marriage have been recognized under substantive due process.<span data-cid="4414ebce-bd7f-4c00-acef-0503a80989d1">  </span></p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“On the Due Process Clause, Justice Thomas has long argued (consistent with much academic commentary) that insofar as the Fourteenth Amendment incorporates enumerated rights against the states and protects unenumerated rights, this work is done by the Privileges [and] Immunities Clause, and not the Due Process Clause,” Reason <a href="https://reason.com/volokh/2022/06/26/on-justice-thomas-dobbs-precedent-and-substantive-due-process/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a>.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">“In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell,” Thomas wrote. “Because any substantive due process decision is ‘demonstrably erroneous,’ we have a duty to ‘correct the error’ established in those precedents, After overruling these demonstrably erroneous decisions, the question would remain whether other constitutional provisions guarantee the myriad rights that our substantive due process cases have generated.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“Substantive due process exalts judges at the expense of the People from whom they derive their authority,&#8221; he wrote, “Substantive due process distorts other areas of constitutional law. &#8230; Substantive due process is the core inspiration for many of the Court’s constitutionally unmoored policy judgments. &#8230; The harm caused by this Court’s forays into substantive due process remains immeasurable.”</p>

Support For Gay Marriage Plummets Among Republicans: Gallup Poll

<p style="font-weight: 400;">The New York Times, in its inexhaustible capacity to load an argument when attacking institutions it loathes, did it once again, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/29/climate/oil-companies-wrongful-death-lawsuit-heat-dome.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">leaving out key information</a> when covering a ridiculous lawsuit targeting the major oil companies of the Western Hemisphere.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The <a href="https://climateintegrity.org/uploads/media/Leon_v_Exxon_Complaint.pdf">lawsuit</a> brought by Misti Leon after the death of her mother, Juliana Leon, accuses oil companies of causing Juliana’s death in 2021 because of their contribution to climate change. Juliana, 65, died in her car on June 28, 2021, from hyperthermia. The lawsuit names Exxon, British Petroleum, Chevron, Shell, Conoco, and Phillips 66 oil companies, as well as the Olympic Pipe Company, because of their contribution to climate change.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“The day Julie died was the hottest day ever recorded in Washington with temperatures in Seattle, where Julie died, peaking around 108°F. It was the third consecutive day above 100°F, and record nighttime temperatures prevented the built environment from being able to dissipate the heat it had absorbed throughout the day. In effect, Seattle had turned into an oven,” the lawsuit claims. “This heat was deadly, particularly for those who were unable to escape the heat or were otherwise vulnerable to excessive temperatures.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“The heat dome that scorched the Pacific Northwest in 2021 would have been &#8216;virtually impossible&#8217; were it not for man-made climate change, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/07/climate/climate-change-heat-wave.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to researchers</a> with World Weather Attribution, an international group of scientists and meteorologists,&#8221; The New York Times wrote. &#8220;Around the world, extreme heat has emerged as one of the deadliest manifestations of a warming planet.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Yet the Times never mentions some salient points regarding Leon’s death, even though they&#8217;re included in the lawsuit.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">One: Two weeks before her death, doctors performed bariatric surgery on her; she had been on a liquid diet ever since. Two: The day of her death, she was returning from a doctor’s appointment where they told her she could resume eating solid foods. The Times never mentions that the car’s air conditioning broke, prompting Leon to roll down the windows and pull over to the side of the road. Three: Weather forecasts said the heat would be intense that day.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">But as was pointed out by research meteorologist Ryan Maue, who issued a <a href="https://x.com/RyanMaue/status/1928226566313595142" target="_blank" rel="noopener">thread</a> on X about the lawsuit, “The research study that concluded this heat wave event was ‘virtually impossible’ without climate change does not provide an analysis of all ‘heat dome’ events from the past 2,000 years — instead focusing on model data since 1950.”</p>

Although anthropogenic warming may have contributed as much as 1°C to the event, there is little evidence of further amplification from increasing greenhouse gases. NY Times Covers Crazy Climate Change Lawsuit Targeting Oil Companies, But Leaves Out Key Evidence

<p style="font-weight: 400;">The Justice Department, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, pointed out the leftist bias of the American Bar Association (ABA) and ordered that it will bo longer have access to non-public information, including bar records.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The ABA uses a ratings process in which their Standing Committee rates each nominee &#8220;Well Qualified,&#8221; &#8220;Qualified&#8221; or &#8220;Not Qualified.&#8221; “Unanimous committee ratings appear as a single rating. In other situations, the rating from the majority or substantial majority (2/3 or more of those voting) of the Committee is recorded first, followed by the rating or ratings of a minority of the Committee. The majority rating is the rating of the committee,” the ABA notes on its <a href="https://www.americanbar.org/groups/committees/federal_judiciary/ratings/">website</a>.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“The ABA has a history of taking liberal positions on issues including abortion, the death penalty, same-sex marriage, affirmative action, and the Second Amendment,” National Review <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/bench-memos/yes-the-aba-is-still-a-left-wing-advocacy-group/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a> in 2019. “The organization’s ideological bias has long tainted its ratings of judicial nominees. An entire book on the subject was written as early as 1965, Joel B. Grossman’s <em>Lawyers and Judges: The ABA and the Politics of Judicial Selection</em>.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Of the 15 members on the ABA’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary in 2019, five donated to Barack Obama’s campaign, three to that of Hillary Clinton, and none to the three Republican nominees between 2008-2016. Incredibly, the ABA gave a minority “Not Qualified” rating to iconic Judge Robert Bork and other conservative legal scholars, including Richard A. Posner, Edith H. Jones, and William H. Pryor, among others.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“For several decades, the American Bar Association has received special treatment and enjoyed special access to judicial nominees,” Bondi wrote in a letter to ABA President William Bay. “In some administrations, the ABA received notice of nominees before a nomination was announced to the public. Some administrations would even decide whether to nominate an individual based on a rating assigned by the ABA.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">She continued:</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;"><em>Unfortunately, the ABA no longer functions as a fair arbiter of nominees&#8217; qualifications, and its ratings invariably and demonstrably favor nominees put forth by Democratic administrations. The ABA&#8217;s steadfast refusal to fix the bias in its ratings process, despite criticism from Congress, the Administration, and the academy, is disquieting. Accordingly, while the ABA is free to comment on judicial nominations along with other activist organizations, there is no justification for treating the ABA differently from such other activist organizations and the Department of Justice will not do so. Specifically, the Office of Legal Policy will no longer direct nominees to provide waivers allowing the ABA access to non-public information, including bar records. Nominees will also not respond to questionnaires prepared by the ABA and will not sit for interviews with the ABA.</em></p>

Bondi Cuts Out Leftist American Bar Association: No More Access To Non-Public Info

<p style="font-weight: 400;">On Wednesday, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, accused the UN of a “brutal &#8230; Mafia-like” response to U.S.-backed non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that wanted to help in the humanitarian effort to provide aid to Gaza.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Danon accused the UN of removing the NGOs of the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) from the shared aid database.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“Not only did the UN refuse to condemn Hamas for its efforts to sabotage the new aid senders — we have seen the pictures of Hamas blocking people — but the UN is now actively joining Hamas in trying to block that aid,” Danon noted. “The UN is using threats, intimidation, and retaliation against NGOs that choose to participate in the new humanitarian mechanism.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“A number of major international NGOs made a decision to take part in the new aid initiative,” he said. “They decided to ignore the UN’s calls for a boycott. They’re allowed to do it. They said, ‘We want to give it a try; we want to help this new mechanism.’ They chose to act because they truly care about what’s happening.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“The UN’s response was brutal. It was Mafia-like,” he charged. “Without any discussion, without due process, the UN removed those NGOs from the shared aid database. That database, I want to remind you, is the central system for tracking aid deliverers into Gaza. It was created and approved under a UN General Assembly resolution. But those NGOs, they were frozen out. It is the greatest violation of the UN’s own principles. It is extortion of well-meaning NGOs that refuse to kiss the ring, do the shakedown by UN mobsters. How can they do that?”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“I urge the UN, do not let your egos get in the way,” he stated. “Cooperate with the new mechanism; it has begun and it is operational. Shift your focus from dramatic press statements and intimidating NGOs to the work you are supposed to be doing.”</p>

In November 2024, Alice Nderitu, a courageous woman from Kenya who served as the United Nations’ Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide, was fired after she stood up to the Israel-haters in the U.N. and refused to declare that Israel had committed “genocide” in its war against Hamas.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">In October 2024, Israel banned United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres from visiting the country. Israel Katz, the Foreign Minister of the Jewish state, wrote on X, “This is a Secretary-General who has yet to denounce the massacre and sexual atrocities committed by Hamas murderers on October 7, nor has he led any efforts to declare them a terrorist organization. A Secretary-General who gives backing to terrorists, rapists, and murderers from Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and now Iran—the mothership of global terror—will be remembered as a stain on the history of the UN. Israel will continue to defend its citizens and uphold its national dignity, with or without António Guterres.”</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">In July 2024, the anti-Israel International Court of Justice, an arm of the United Nations, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/icj-court-israel-palestinians-settlements-2d5178500c0410341b252335859f2316" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ruled</a> that Israel’s presence in the biblical areas of Judea and Samaria was “unlawful,” and that Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria, as well as in East Jerusalem, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/icj-united-nations-israel-settlement-violate-international-law-rcna162667" target="_blank" rel="noopener">violated</a> international law.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">East Jerusalem includes the Temple Mount, the holiest place in the world for Jews.</p>

Israel’s UN Ambassador Accuses UN Of ‘Mafia-Like’ ‘Shakedown’ Refusing U.S.-Backed Aid To Gaza

<p style="font-weight: 400;">On Thursday, after the Court of International Trade blocked President Donald Trump from imposing some of his harshest tariffs on foreign countries the day before, stock markets around the world soared.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“Futures for the S&amp;P 500 index jumped 1.5 percent, suggesting that stocks will open sharply higher when trading begins in New York,” the New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/29/business/stocks-trump-tariffs.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, adding that stocks rose in France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea. The dollar rose on Wednesday after the ruling. The yield on the 30-year Treasury note climbed back over 5%. Chip giant Nvidia’s stock rose on Wednesday by more than 6%.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The Court’s ruling implies that ultimately “extreme tariffs and rapidly changing tariffs are less likely to happen going forward, which reduces uncertainty somewhat,” analysts at Panmure Liberum, a British investment bank, opined. But they cautioned that in the immediate future, the dispute between the Court and the Trump administration “will add significant uncertainty to the mix, making it even harder for U.S. businesses to plan.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Trump had used the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act to justify his call for higher tariffs. The Court gave Trump 10 days to end them, prompting the Trump administration to immediately file its plans to appeal the decision.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">“The ruling does not affect tariffs issued by the Trump administration under separate legal authorities, including levies on steel, aluminum and cars, and others that Mr. Trump has threatened on pharmaceuticals, semiconductors and other critical products,” The Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/business/trump-tariffs-blocked-federal-court.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pointed out</a>.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The Court of International Trade has nine judges appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate. The Court’s ruling on the tariffs was made by a tribunal of three judges; two of whom were appointed by Republicans and one of whom was appointed by Trump.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The panel did note two other statutes that Trump could use to justify tariffs, and that he has other avenues available to carry out his economic plans.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“The bottom line is that this ruling is just a <a href="https://www.barrons.com/articles/treasury-auction-boj-mof-debt-0b226a31?mod=article_inline" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-type="link" data-testid="hyperlink">temporary setback</a> for the president and won’t really stop him. It makes things harder for Trump, but falls well short of taking tariffs off the table,” Barron&#8217;s <a href="https://www.barrons.com/articles/can-court-really-stop-trump-tariffs-a51402c1?mod=barronsgooglenews" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.</p>
