Controversial performer Sam Smith just teased an upcoming guest appearance on the popular HBO series “And Just Like That,” a spinoff of “Sex and the City.”

The British singer posted a photo on location in New York City to Instagram, which included the caption: “Up to something unholy on set.” The same image was also shared on the official “And Just Like That” Instagram account.

Smith, 30, has been making headlines recently following a provocative performance with trans-identifying singer Kim Petras at the Grammys. The performer, who identifies as “non-binary,” dressed as Satan, and the segment sparked outrage from viewers for its over-the-top hellish imagery and BDSM themes.

“I know we on the right probably use the word satanic too often but this performance from Sam Smith is literally a tribute to Satan,” Human Events editor Ben Kew tweeted.

“People like Sam Smith who love to mock Christianity and use Satanic themes always think they’re super edgy artists by doing it,” conservative commentator Robby Starbuck agreed. “In reality it’s not edgy. It’s boring, vile, rehashed shock tactics that Hollywood seals clap for because they’re evil & stupid.”

Petras defended the performance, saying, “I think a lot of people, honestly, have kind of labeled what I stand for and what Sam stands for as religiously not cool.”

“And I personally grew up wondering about religion and wanting to be a part of it, but then slowly realizing it doesn’t want me to be a part of it,” the singer explained. “So it’s a take on not being able to choose religion and not being able to live the way that people might want you to live, because, you know, as a trans person, I’m kind of already not wanted in religion.”

Smith also faced backlash for the music video accompanying the song “I’m Not Here To Make Friends,” which is featured on the recently-released album “Gloria.” Critics noted that there were no restrictions on the graphically sexual video, meaning young children could easily view it on YouTube.

“And Just Like That” is currently filming its second season for HBO Max. The series had mixed reviews, with viewers on the Left complaining that the social justice activism was contrived and unrealistic. Conservative viewers noted how the show was unapologetically “woke,” complete with a trans rabbi hosting a “they-mitzvah” for a gender-confused adolescent.
