<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/domestic-violence">Domestic violence</a> charges filed against “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/animation">Rick and Morty</a>” co-creator Justin Roiland were dropped, which led him to issue a statement via social media.
&#8220;I have always known that these claims were false &#8211; and I never had any doubt this day would come,&#8221; Roiland <a href="https://twitter.com/JustinRoiland/status/1638629789258100737">tweeted</a> in a screenshot he captioned “justice.”
&#8220;I&#8217;m thankful that this case has been dismissed but, at the same time, I&#8217;m still deeply shaken by the horrible lies that were reported about me during this process,&#8221; the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cartoon-network">animated series</a> creator continued. 
&#8220;Most of all, I&#8217;m disappointed that so many people were so quick to judge without knowing the facts, based solely on the word of an embittered ex trying to bypass due process and have me &#8216;canceled.&#8217; That it may have succeeded, even partially, is shameful. However, now that the legal case has ended, I&#8217;m determined to move forward and focus both on my creative projects and restoring my good name.&#8221;

The domestic violence charges were filed in May 2020 regarding an alleged incident from January of that year. A woman identified as Jane Doe accused Roiland of two felonies: one count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, and or deceit, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/oh-geez-rick-and-morty-co-creator-axed-over-domestic-abuse-allegations">reported</a>.
These allegations became public in January, leading to the “Rick and Morty” co-creator getting axed from Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. The animated sci-fi sitcom debuted on the network in 2013 and has seen massive success over the past decade.
Hulu also announced the company would no longer work with him on the comedies “Solar Opposites” and “Koala Man” after the allegations came to light.
Besides serving as co-creator and executive producer, Roiland also provided the voice for both titular characters and was known for ad-libbing some of the dialogue. The network terminated its partnership with Roiland but vowed to keep “Rick and Morty” alive, which drew mixed reactions from fans.

A representative with the Orange County District Attorney <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/justin-roiland-issues-statement-as-domestic-violence-charges-against-him-are-dropped">told</a> IGN that charges were dropped because prosecutors “did not have sufficient evidence to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt,&#8221; in addition to &#8220;additional information that came to light during the investigation.&#8221;
The publication noted that more than a dozen hearings had already been held over the charges, and Roiland was next due back in court on April 27.
