Anti-Semitic Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) snapped at a group of reporters on Monday evening after her latest anti-Semitic incident landed her in hot water with Democratic leaders and led to President Donald Trump calling on her to resign from Congress.
The group of reporters confronted Omar after she was forced to apologize after she promoted anti-Semitic conspiracy theories on Sunday, suggesting that Jewish lobbyists were paying American politicians to support Israel.
“What have you learned from your comments and the reaction to it?” a reporter asked Omar.
“I’ve stated all of it in my statement,” Omar responded with a snide look on her face as she chewed on a piece of gum.
“Do you regret your comments, congresswoman?” another reporter asked.
“I’m pretty sure that was stated in my statement,” Omar responded as she became visibly annoyed by the questions.
“Were you surprised by the reaction criticism?” a reporter asked.
“Always surprised,” Omar said.
“Are you worried about losing committee assignments?” another reporter asked Omar.
“Absolutely not,” Omar snarked back.
WATCH:
Omar’s anti-Semitic statements sparked such an intense reaction that Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Majority Whip James E. Clyburn, Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján, Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries and Caucus Vice Chair Katherine Clark issued the following statement:
Anti-Semitism must be called out, confronted and condemned whenever it is encountered, without exception.
We are and will always be strong supporters of Israel in Congress because we understand that our support is based on shared values and strategic interests. Legitimate criticism of Israel’s policies is protected by the values of free speech and democratic debate that the United States and Israel share. But Congresswoman Omar’s use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive. We condemn these remarks and we call upon Congresswoman Omar to immediately apologize for these hurtful comments.
As Democrats and as Americans, the entire Congress must be fully engaged in denouncing and rejecting all forms of hatred, racism, prejudice and discrimination wherever they are encountered.
“How has the Democratic Party morphed into the party of anti-Semitism?” Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro wrote on Monday. “By embracing the philosophy of intersectionality on the one hand, and by embracing the myth that anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism are completely separable on the other. The former provides the emotional impetus for nodding at Jew-hatred; the latter provides the intellectual framework for doing so.”
“The philosophy of intersectionality has othered Jews from the intersectional coalition,” Shapiro continued. “Because intersectionality is built on the premise that the prevailing Western system of thought has victimized various groups, and that those groups must band together in order to destroy that system, those who have thrived under the West must be excised from the intersectional agglomeration – being, as they are, representatives of the fact that Western thought is not, in fact, rooted in evil. The Jews are simply too financially, educationally, and politically successful to be seen as anything other than members of the power structure.”
