<p>The Islamic State may already have a new leader, <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/isis-new-leader-baghdadi-running-things-1468025">Newsweek reports</a>, less than a day after the head of the group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was killed by United States Special Forces at a compound in Syria, but the group itself may be crumbling, in part due to lack of agreement on direction.</p>
<p>According to Newsweek&#8217;s source &#8212; &#8220;one regional intelligence official asking not to be identified by name or nation&#8221; &#8212; Abdullah Qardash, the group&#8217;s director of &#8220;Muslim affairs&#8221; will take al-Baghdadi&#8217;s place as the leader and figurehead of the Islamic State and the so-called &#8220;Caliphate.&#8221;</p>
