<p>In a leaked recording <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mayorkas-leaked-audio-border">obtained by Fox News</a>, Department of Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas can be heard admitting that the situation at the border is &#8220;unsustainable&#8221; and that &#8220;we&#8217;re going to lose&#8221; if &#8220;borders are the first line of defense.&#8221;</p>
<p>The audio was reportedly recorded during a visit Mayorkas paid to the border to view the situation on the ground firsthand. According to official Customs and Border Protection (CBP) statistics, agents encountered 212,672 illegal immigrants at the border in the month of July &#8212; a shocking, 13% increase over the number of migrants apprehended in the month of June.</p>
