REPORT: 40 Girls Sexually Molested By Dr. Nassar While Comey’s FBI Dragged Its Feet

Disturbing new details emerged on Saturday about the FBI’s investigation into allegations that Dr. Larry Nassar was sexually molesting girls while the bureau was led by former FBI director James Comey.

The FBI reportedly dragged its feet in the investigation, moving with “little evident urgency,” which led to dozens of additional victims who claim they were sexually molested by Nassar during the FBI’s investigation. The New York Times reports:

The New York Times has identified at least 40 girls and women who say that Dr. Nassar molested them between July 2015, when he first fell under F.B.I. scrutiny, and September 2016, when he was exposed by an Indianapolis Star investigation. Some are among the youngest of the now-convicted predator’s many accusers — 265, and counting.

The three alleged victims then at the center of the F.B.I.’s inquiry were world-class athletes; two were Olympic gold medalists. Nearly a year passed before agents interviewed two of the young women.

“I never got a phone call from the police or the FBI,” Gina Nichols, the mother of one of the victims and a registered nurse, said. “Not one person. Not one. Not one. Not one.”

Judge Rosemarie Aquilina announced on January 24 that Nassar was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison after hundreds of women came forward and said that he sexually assaulted them over the previous two decades.

“I’ve just signed your death warrant,” Aquilina said. “I find that you don’t get it, that you’re a danger. That you remain a danger.”
