Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) attended President Joe Biden’s first State of the Union address in a black outfit that said on the back in gold lettering, “Drill Baby Drill.”
The attire comes as gas prices hit a seven-year high. Notably, Biden has canceled the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline and recently halted new oil and gas leases indefinitely.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) approvingly posted a photo of Boebert wrapped in the message to his Twitter account.
“My friend [Lauren Boebert] at #SOTU. Drill Baby Drill!” Cruz captioned the post.

“Oil prices surged Tuesday, with U.S. crude hitting its highest level since June 2014 as Russia bears down on Ukraine’s capital,” CNBC News reported hours before Biden gave his address Tuesday night. “West Texas Intermediate crude Futures, the U.S. oil benchmark, jumped 11.5% at the highs of the day to $106.78 per barrel. The contract eased off that level during afternoon trading and ended the session at $103.41, for a gain of 8.03%.”
“International benchmark Brent crude hit a high of $107.57 per barrel, a price last seen in July 2014. The contract ended the day at $104.97 per barrel, for a gain of 7.15%,” the report added.
The Biden administration announced last week that they’re indefinitely delaying new oil and gas drilling on federal land and other energy-related actions following a federal court ruling that blocks the administration from using their steep “social cost of carbon” estimate.
U.S. District Judge James Cain of the Western District of Louisiana “blocked federal agencies from using an estimate known as the ‘social cost of carbon’ to assess pollution from carbon emissions by energy production and other industrial sources,” MarketWatch explained. “The decision blocked the Biden administration from using a higher estimate for the damage that each additional ton of greenhouse gas pollution causes society.”
“President Joe Biden on his first day in office restored the climate cost estimate to about $51 per ton of carbon dioxide emissions, after President Donald Trump had reduced the figure to $7 or less per ton,” the report noted. “Trump’s estimate included only damages felt in the U.S. versus the global harm previously used by President Barack Obama.”
Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso (R) slammed the Biden administration for continuing “to defy the courts and the law” by halting oil drilling on public lands.
“Even in the face of a global energy crisis, historic inflation and skyrocketing gasoline prices, the Biden administration continues to crush U.S. energy production,” Barrasso blasted Biden.
Boebert also made waves Tuesday when she shouted about killed U.S. Military members during Biden’s address, The Daily Wire reported:
“Our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan faced many dangers,” Biden said. “One was stationed at bases and breathing in toxic smoke from ‘burn pits’ that incinerated wastes of war—medical and hazard material, jet fuel, and more. When they came home, many of the world’s fittest and best trained warriors were never the same. Headaches. Numbness. Dizziness.”
“A cancer that would put them in a flag-draped coffin,” Biden continued. “I know.”
Boebert then interrupted, “You put them in, 13 of them,” in reference to Biden’s disastrous pullout from Afghanistan that resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. soldiers.
