There’s a tiny village in Ireland called Ringaskiddy. It’s not close to anything, unless you consider Cork anything.
But for our purposes, we will note that it’s not far from Chubb, Ireland.
According to an ever-swelling list of reports that exploded all over the internet yesterday, the tiny seaside town is pummeled by penetrating winds from across the Lough Mahon, where a Pfizer plant located on Little Island makes its little blue pill, Viagra.
“Residents from a small Irish village where Viagra has been manufactured for the last 20 years have quipped ‘something in the air’ makes them ‘stiff’,” The Sun reported.
But the residents aren’t taking it too hard. They don’t feel shafted. To the contrary. They enjoy pumping up the story.
One local joked men in the area have not had “problems in that department” because beneficial fumes radiate through the town.
Debbie O’Grady told The Sunday Times: “One whiff and you’re stiff. We’ve been getting the love fumes for years now, for free.”
But Fiona Toomey believes it’s not just men who have gained from the local factory.
She said even the dogs “walk around in a state of sexual excitement” because “Viagra must have got into the water supply.”
The Irish Mirror, stiff competition for The Sun, knows a good story when they hear one, so they went to Ringskiddy, too. They must’ve got a tip, because they found Debbie O’Grady’s mother, as well.
It’s amazing the number of people who come to this village, perhaps out of curiosity, and then never leave.
They settle down here. As they say, there’s something in the air — not that we need it, of course. But for some fellas with problems in that department it can be a blessing.
Although the media was having a ball with the story, Pfizer sadly shot down the tall tale, saying that they’re not guilty of a cock-up. “Our manufacturing processes have always been highly sophisticated as well as highly regulated,” the company said in a statement.
Guess the residents of Ringskiddy now have a bone to pick with Pfizer. They could always sue, you know, turn to the penal system.
