R&B singer and Grammy winner R. Kelly was arrested on Thursday in Chicago on charges of child pornography, enticement of a minor and obstruction of justice. He was charged with racketeering and sex-related crimes against women and girls; the Illinois indictment against Kelly stated that he “engaged in sexual contact and sexual acts” with five different girls who met him when they were between the ages of 12 and 17.
The indictment also stated that Kelly “did knowingly employ, persuade, induce, entice and coerce a minor, namely Minor , to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct, namely, Video 2, and defendant knew or had reason to know that such visual depiction would be transported in interstate or foreign commerce or mailed, or such visual depiction was actually transported in interstate or foreign commerce or mailed.”
