Protesters Descend On DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s Home, Threaten Children Of DHS Employees

Protesters swarmed around Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s home Friday, besieging her family, chanting “no justice, no sleep,” and playing the cries of immigrant children on loudspeakers, The Washington Times reports.

Other DHS employees were warned that there have been credible threats made against both them and their children in a system-wide email that also went out this weekend from the department’s deputy secretary, which also included a list of emergency services and security protocols along with information on how to access the department’s security force.

“This assessment is based on specific and credible threats that have been levied against certain DHS employees and a sharp increase in the overall number of general threats against DHS employees — although the veracity of each threat varies. In addition, over the last few days, thousands of employees have had their personally identifiable information publically (sic) released on social media,” the email said.

Protesters outside Nielsen’s home are apparently unsatisfied that Nielsen and the Trump Administration insist on enforcing immigration laws, even as the Administration reversed its policy on separating detained adults from their minor children while they await an asylum hearing.

CREDO Action is reportedly organizing the small but vocal protests outside Nielsen’s home, which they also say will continue into the near future. Friday, Nielsen was forced to walk past demonstrators shouting “Shame!” and earlier this week, a similar group, this time from the Democratic Socialists of America, ran the DHS Secretary out of a Mexican restaurant where she was dining with colleagues.

“There’s a child snatcher living in Alexandria, Virginia,” CREDO organizer Heidi Hess said in a statement to press. “Rightfully so, there’s a huge amount of attention focused on the border and the detention centers but the people who are making the decisions are here in DC, so it’s important to shine a spotlight on them as well.”

The demonstration is just the latest in a string of intimidation tactics the Left has employed, even after meeting their goal of reuniting immigrant families late last week. Sarah Huckabee Sanders was also asked to leave a restaurant on Friday evening because she apparently made employees of D.C.’s Red Hen feel “unsafe.”
