Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle reportedly found out through media reports that they have been uninvited from a state reception for royals and world leaders set for Saturday.
The duo live in California and announced their split from royal life in 2020, aiming to become “financially independent.”
“The invite is for working members of the royal family only,” a spokesperson for King Charles III confirmed to Page Six.
The pair apparently received an invite to the event, but are not welcome to attend.
“Harry and Meghan actually got the invitation and no-one has actually told them they are uninvited,” one source said.
“I’m told they only found out they were uninvited by reading press reports,” a different royal source told Page Six.
Despite their departure from royal duties, Prince Harry and Markle still have their royal titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. A movement is growing for the pair to have those titles stripped, The Daily Wire reported last week.
“There has been a petition, a movement from the people of the county of Sussex, they’re supposed to represent, to remove them,” royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News. “Why? Because they’re taking the name but they’re not doing anything for the people of Sussex. This is a dilemma. This is not a celebrity role. It is a role of duty. So you need to do your duty and then hold the title. Why would anybody want the title if they don’t want to do their duty to the people of the county of Sussex? You either do or you don’t. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.”
Prince Harry and Markle have attracted much attention since distancing themselves from the royal family, engaging in Woke politics, and throwing out accusations of racism.
Notably, rumors about Markle bullying royal aides popped up in the media last year.
In July, an investigation into the allegations concluded, but findings are being kept under wraps, allegedly because Buckingham Palace is “terrified” of antagonizing Markle and Prince Harry, who’ve routinely trashed all things royal.
“Considering those who participated [in the investigation] did so at great personal and reputational risk to themselves, the fact that they haven’t even been told what the findings are is unfathomable,” a source explained. “I am sure they will be deeply distressed, but perhaps not entirely surprised given how things have been handled. The household seems to be terrified of upsetting or provoking Harry and Meghan.”
