King Charles III has authorized a letter to senior British officials making clear that Prince Harry and Meghan will remain non-working royals despite their return to the United Kingdom last month, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c20lpevv7jlo">according</a> to the BBC.
The letter, issued by Lord Chamberlai, Lord Benyon on behalf of the King, was distributed to Harry&#8217;s team, government officials, military leaders and Lord Lieutenants — royal representatives who may be involved in official visits. Its purpose, according to Palace sources, is to ensure that any public activity by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex going forward is understood to be undertaken in a private capacity rather than on behalf of the monarchy.
<a href="https://www.newsweek.com/king-charles-letter-prince-harry-meghan-markle-not-working-royals-12412565">According</a> to Newsweek, which obtained the letter&#8217;s text, it states that the couple&#8217;s position &#8220;is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests,&#8221; and confirms their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain unused. The letter also reportedly reiterates that the arrangement struck when the couple stepped back from royal duties in January 2020 — sometimes called the Sandringham Agreement — remains fully in effect, barring any &#8220;half-in, half-out&#8221; role that would let them draw on royal status while pursuing outside commercial ventures.
Harry and Meghan relocated to Britain in late August with their children, Archie and Lilibet, after six years living in Montecito, California. The family is reportedly settling into a privately owned home outside London while keeping their California residence and a property in Portugal. The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/prince-harry-reunites-with-king-charles-brings-meghan-and-children">reported</a> that the move followed a private meeting in July between the King, Queen Camilla, and the Sussexes at Highgrove House — the first family gathering since the rift that followed the couple&#8217;s 2020 departure and subsequent public criticisms of the royal family in Harry&#8217;s memoir and the couple&#8217;s Netflix series.
Buckingham Palace had not issued formal comment on the letter as of Monday afternoon. The Sussexes&#8217; office has not released a statement responding to the Palace&#8217;s clarification.

Glowing obituaries are pouring in after the death of feminist icon Gloria Steinem, who was born in 1934. The Associated Press called her “a potent voice of US feminism,” and the Washington Post heralded her as the “lodestar of the modern women’s movement.” It is hard to overstate her influence upon Western women.
Gloria Steinem wasn’t just one among many feminists; she was the “it” girl who normalized feminism and made it broadly attractive. Prior to her arrival on the scene, the movement was populated by angry, cantankerous, and mentally ill women whose irascibility made them difficult to work with: Kate Millett was mentally ill and an “out” bisexual; Angela Davis was an angry Black Panther; and Betty Friedan wasn’t the kind of woman other women dreamed of being like. And then came Gloria. Her long blond tresses, aviator glasses, and lithe physique opened the door to a new chapter for feminism. She was articulate, savvy, and a fresh force for the feminist movement.
Not everyone appreciated the star power she brought to the movement. Prominent feminist Phyllis Chesler wrote of her candidly:

What can I say about Gloria? Only this: My generation of feminists needed Susan B. Anthony but we got Mary Tyler Moore. We needed Harriet Tubman but we got Jane Fonda. We got the blonde, blow-dried feminist in the aviator glasses, the one in the skinny jeans, the feminist who posed in a bubble bath for People magazine. As glamorous as a movie star, Gloria repeatedly gave the same pseudo-apology: “I’m not that attractive. I’m only attractive . . . for a feminist.”

Her attractiveness and comparisons to Mary Tyler Moore and Fonda, however, were exactly what the movement needed to take hold in the imaginations of millions of American women. She became the high priestess, carefully crafting an image of “the new feminist woman” through media, protests, and, of course, the pages of Ms. Magazine.
Steinem’s appeal never seemed to wane, morphing with the culture and rebranding the movement to make sure it maintained its freshness. Her one misstep was the Land’s End photoshoot, which outraged its family oriented customer-base and was quickly removed. But she didn’t need families and was able to maintain the limelight through her powerful friends.  As recently as 2022, she appeared with Meghan Markle to discuss the fall of Roe v. Wade. As I explained in my book &#8220;<a href="https://amzn.to/4zVxF2S" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://amzn.to/4zVxF2S&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1788546020381000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0TlZ7o_yflADjo1jru_auZ">The End of Woman</a>,&#8221; she may have been the first to say publicly that a child would have ruined her life:

Today, Steinem is still deeply relevant, and female celebrities are clamoring to pay their respects. <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/gloria-steinem-tributes-hillary-clinton-meghan-markle-1235617328/" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/gloria-steinem-tributes-hillary-clinton-meghan-markle-1235617328/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1788546020381000&amp;usg=AOvVaw06osrAW9Yq8ZpMF3kQadWm">Everyone</a> from Hilary Clinton and Jill Biden to Meghan Markle and Lena Dunham is posting their images with the icon.
Though she was fashionable on the outside, her real power was interior. Steinem deeply embodied the new feminist anthropology that took the West by storm, slowly phasing out the millennia-old Judeo-Christian anthropology of Genesis 1. Instead of understanding that men and women were both created in God’s image and likeness and were meant to procreate and serve one another, Gloria promoted the feminist notion that men are contemptible — and women need to become just like them.
This feminist vision, planted centuries before by Mary Wollstonecraft, took root in her life. It can be seen in her quotes such as, “A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle”; “A gender-equal society would be one where the word &#8216;gender&#8217; does not exist: where everyone can be themselves”; and “Until the masculine role is humanized, women will tend to be much better at solving dangerous conflicts.”
Steinem’s disregard for men can be traced back to her extremely difficult childhood. Her father was a traveling salesman, gone most of the time while providing very little financially or emotionally. Young Gloria was left for months at a time to care for her mentally ill and bedridden mother — truly something no child should be left to do. This brokenness made her one of the Lost Girls, the women with serious issues who believed that scuttling tradition, morals, and gender were the most effective ways to help others. She, like the other Lost Girls, adopted feminism as a kind of bubble wrap against any kind of vulnerability that comes with being a female. Unfortunately, these Lost Girls and their grasp on the culture have cemented into generations of women the belief that their best life is lived in pursuit of radical autonomy, with men and children along as nice accessories, but certainly not essentials to female happiness.
Today, we live with the results of this tragic twisting of women into ersatz men (and not good men). Mental illness is through the roof, with one in every five women on some kind of antidepressant medication, the war between the sexes is at an all-time high (with the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQRKL4BxrEM" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v%3DdQRKL4BxrEM&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1788546020381000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1qwKGaClHtYqHGtkaXe-6H">New Statesman</a> reporting that among young women, only 35% of women under 25 have a favorable view of men), and the West faces a birth dearth that threatens us on a civilizational level. Western women are simply not having children. This is the real fruit of feminism and the feminist anthropology. It has slowly corroded civilization from the inside out. Gratefully, more and more women and men are waking up to reality.
Today, Steinem is still heralded as a heroine, but future generations will likely not treat her so kindly. Truly, she was the model of everything that has betrayed the vital and beautiful nature of women and men. That’s her real legacy. May she rest in peace.

President Donald Trump celebrated Prince Harry and Meghan Markle&#8217;s return to the United Kingdom on Wednesday, saying he was &#8220;happy&#8221; to see the couple leave the United States.
“I’m happy about it,” the president <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/conormurray/2026/09/02/trump-happy-harry-and-meghan-left-united-states-i-was-not-a-fan/">told</a> reporters in the Oval Office. “I was not a fan.” 
Trump accused Harry and Markle of treating the royal family with &#8220;great disrespect&#8221; and singled out Markle&#8217;s conduct toward the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III.
“I didn’t like the way she acted,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;I thought she was terribly disrespectful to the Queen, to King Charles.” 
&#8220;If I were the royal family, I would not have taken them back,&#8221; he added.
Trump has been a critic of Markle&#8217;s for years. When it was suspected she supported his opponent Joe Biden for president in 2020, he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-torches-meghan-markle-i-wish-a-lot-of-luck-to-harry-because-hes-gonna-need-it">said</a>, “I’m not a fan of hers, and I would say this, and she probably has heard that, but I wish a lot of luck to Harry, because he’s going to need it.”
The couple and their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, headed back across the pond weeks after giving up their senior royal roles and settling in California during the coronavirus pandemic, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/party-in-the-usa-prince-harry-meghan-markle-returning-to-uk-after-years-of-royal-turmoil">reported</a>. The couple plans to keep their homes in Montecito, California, and Portugal, but their kids will be going to school in the U.K. 
The move comes after years of bitter tensions between Harry and his estranged royal family — and just months after an under-the-radar trip to visit with the family.
In July, King Charles III privately met with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children in the first family gathering since the royal rift erupted several years ago. The king and Queen Camilla met with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet at the Highgrove House country estate.
Relations deteriorated after Harry and Meghan’s bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which they accused an unnamed royal family member of raising concerns about how dark their first child Archie’s skin might be. The couple’s Netflix documentary and Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” which also included criticism of the royal family, further deepened the rift. Harry has also remained estranged from his older brother, Prince William, according to multiple reports.
After losing his appeal over government-funded security in Britain in 2025, Harry told the BBC he hoped to reconcile with his family.
“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious,” Prince Harry said, insisting that the security argument has “always been the sticking point.” He also referenced his father’s cancer battle, saying he didn’t know how much time the king had left.
Harry has visited the U.K. without his wife on multiple occasions in recent years, including for his father’s coronation in 2023.

Trump Bids Harry And Meghan Good Riddance

Remember when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thought they could alight upon California and trick us into treating them like America’s most sympathetic Brit-ish royals? Well, it seems the stateside jig is up as the hucksters move on to plan B. 
After dragging the British monarchy through the mud and fleeing the U.K. for Montecito in 2020, Harry and Meghan plan this fall to schlep it back across the pond. Yep, to the place where Meghan <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/07/world/meghan-markle-suicidal-thoughts.html">once claimed</a> the press treated her with such brutality, she “didn’t want to be alive anymore.” To the father Harry said was cold and distant, and the brother he alleged called Meghan “<a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-64179164">rude</a>” and “abrasive.” Meghan even summoned crocodile tears to tell Oprah the royals were <a href="https://time.com/5944613/meghan-markle-oprah-racism/">racists</a>. 
Why would they voluntarily jump back into all of that? Well, maybe everyone stopped believing their lies.
The couple plan to enroll their children, 7-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Lilibet at a U.K. school this September. Since they already regifted their official Frogmore Cottage back to the late queen, they’ll remain royal-adjacent in an off-campus residence.
We’re supposed to believe this is a moving story of a broken family on the mend, the return of Britain’s <a href="https://yougov.com/en-gb/articles/55269-royal-family-favourability-trackers-july-2026">former favorite royal</a> (Harry) into the Commonwealth’s open arms. It’s so epic, it could almost be a movie. What a coincidence that <a href="https://yougov.com/en-gb/articles/55269-royal-family-favourability-trackers-july-2026">Netflix</a> cameras may be on hand to capture it.
This all came about after Harry and Meghan popped in to see the king in July for a shockingly headline-free visit. King Charles, who is still receiving<a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c80n48kg0vjo"> treatment for cancer</a>, seems to have the most empathy toward Harry’s plans to return for good. Somewhere in Windsor Castle, the queen is rolling over in her grave.
So is this the part where Harry and Meghan finally admit that clawing for clout effectively destroyed every close relationship in their lives? Meghan may have been fine going no-contact with her dad, siblings, former castmates, ex-husband, and friends to rise to the top. But Harry — who once lamented “<a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/08/29/prince-harry-lost-dad-prince-charles-meghan-markle-says/">I lost my dad in this process</a>” after leaving the royal family — was never that cold at heart. As his birthright slipped through his fingers, so did his identity.
Meghan and Harry have spent the better part of their decade-long relationship cashing in on their supposed hardships. They’ve complained ad nauseam about the British tabloid press, filing lawsuit upon lawsuit in a litigious quest to protect their eternally encroached-upon space. It was such a blatant ruse “South Park” even dragged the pair’s “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N8_5LDkZwY">worldwide privacy tour</a>.” While Meghan <a href="https://abcnews.com/GMA/Culture/duchess-meghan-embroiled-tabloid-lawsuit/story?id=72075500">won a copyright claim in 2021</a> against a tabloid that published a private letter to her dad, subsequent courts have been less sympathetic. Harry just lost an “<a href="https://apnews.com/article/prince-harry-lawsuit-daily-mail-elton-81f7450c6419cbbd5a2b573217cf5ab1">invasion of privacy case</a>” against Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper and will be forced, along with other plaintiffs including Elton John, to reimburse legal fees to the tune of $13 million, at least. 
It’s a marker of a changing era. One that’s shifting toward offering obvious grifters a lot less clout. Maybe most of us have exhausted ourselves with our own toxic empathy.
We were just beginning to enter the chaos of 2020 when the Sussexes first launched their American invasion that March. As the pandemic’s chokehold opened the door for the riots of Black Lives Matter, Meghan — a biracial quasi princess — made her move. 
On Oprah’s prime time special, Meghan revealed “concerns and conversations about how dark [Archie’s] skin might be when he was born.” The world gasped at the alleged gall of the perpetrators who, according to Omid Scobie’s book “Endgame,” were rumored to be King Charles and Princess Catherine.  
But by 2026, Oprah would awkwardly <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reels/DbEQGlNqoDL/">distance herself</a> from the marquee exclusive, like it was a random interview with nobody important that she did way back when. Does Oprah not believe Harry and Meghan’s claims anymore? Does anyone? Did we ever? 
After years of virtue signaling, the couple seems to have done the most damage to themselves. Never mind their own children who appear as obscured pint-sized accessories on their parents’ social media.
Archie and Lilibet have reportedly never met their cousins: William and Catherine’s kids George, Charlotte, and Louis. Reports blame the distance between California and Kensington Palace, but the real gap seems to be interpersonal. Harry’s practically estranged from his brother who will one day be the King of England. Since Meghan took a hacksaw to her own immediate family, so to speak, the couple has no one left but themselves. Not even the celebrities they once called friends view them as being essential to elite society.
Where did it really go wrong? Well, Meghan’s name is literally written all over it. From the portmanteau “<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megxit">Megxit</a>” that followed the couple as they left the royal family to the colloquialism “<a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintMeghanMarkle/comments/1vpp6vx/the_midas_touch_but_for_failure/">Markled</a>” — or “the Midas touch but for failure” — it seems Harry may have been the limp noodle she needed to siphon that royal cash. 
The plan worked until the hose got kinked and the <a href="https://pagesix.com/2026/05/13/royal-family/breadwinner-meghan-markle-may-take-drastic-action-to-pay-her-prince-harrys-huge-bills/">$6 million</a> they needed to fund their lives stopped rushing in. Meghan didn’t transform into the star she always dreamed of, and the couple was seen at events together less often. Royal biographer “Lady C” Colin Campbell even told “<a href="https://youtu.be/PbVQbkvDE3Q?t=3642">The Nerve With Maureen Callahan</a>,” “People with official links at governmental level in the United States contact me to tell me that Harry is in love with another woman (of his age), who is also in love with him.”
Beyond the stress on the marriage, there’s the issue of proximity to the throne. With the possibility of King Charles abdicating to Prince William at any moment, royal commentators speculate that William may strip Harry and Meghan of <a href="https://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/2240347/prince-william-bombshell-plan-blow-sussexes">their royal titles</a> — and cut them off from the royal family for good.
If they’re no longer duke and duchess, who are they? Harry was born into the monarchy, but Meghan — who went from rags to riches (or “Deal or No Deal” to a <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2018/05/18/the-royal-wedding-may-cost-43-million-and-94-percent-of-that-is-for-security.html">$43 million</a> royal wedding) — blew her chance to become just as beloved as Kate, or even Diana. She’s clearly “Single White Female”-ing both. 
Even if they’re headed back into the family fold, it’s unclear whether the British public will welcome Harry and Meghan with open arms. One <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/video/world/europe/100000011103379/londoners-react-harry-meghan-uk-return.html">Londoner</a> said, “I’m not especially happy about it because they trashed the whole country numerous times, betrayed their family, betrayed his king, his father.”
Another noted, “If [Harry] wants to try and build his royal side back up again, I think he would be welcome. He would be welcome.”
Someone else wondered if it’ll just be the same routine in a different country, posting to <a href="https://x.com/QLoTII/status/2090265990877557123?s=20">X</a>: “Harry &amp; Meghan spent years branding the royals ‘toxic,’ fled to Hollywood for ‘freedom,’ then cashed in on every sob story imaginable … only to now crawl back like the firm’s the only place left that still answers their calls. Sussex Squad and Black people who bought the whole ‘racist royals’ act just got played harder than a Netflix special. The Sussexes’ independence lasted about as long as their relevance. Welcome home — your ‘victim’ narrative just got a royal reboot.”
Over on this side of the pond, the vibe is a little more rock and roll. As <a href="https://x.com/MeghanMcCain/status/2090191179874767065?s=20">Meghan McCain</a> posted on X: “One thing about Americans is we can see through bullsh*t and we don’t like entitled grifters. They could never hack it here and truly no one gives a sh*t about d-list royals. Good luck to our friends in the UK, they’re your problem now.”
Still others hope they finally find what they’ve been looking for: home. As <a href="https://youtu.be/Rha8OGXZpso?t=67">one Brit</a> shared, “It’s good to welcome people with open arms, no matter where they are and what their journey is like. You don’t know what they had to go through.” 
Yet, we know what we’ve gone through, and when it comes to these two, it’s “no deal.” Bon voyage, Harry and Meghan. Don’t let the door hit you on your way out.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Con Was Never Going To Last Forever

It’s no secret that Meghan Markle is an incorrigible social climber, but the scale of her ambition is just now coming to light. According to a new <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/08/20/us-news/true-scale-of-meghan-and-harrys-us-political-plans-revealed-from-request-for-biden-oval-office-meeting-to-eyeing-senate-seat/">report</a> from The New York Post, Markle had her sights set on the United States Senate.
This would be amusing enough if Markle were nothing but a D-list actress, which was true for years before she sank her claws into the rebellious British royal Prince Harry. Now that they’re married, her rumored political ambitions are even more ridiculous.
Markle was eyeing the U.S. Senate seat vacated by former Vice President Kamala Harris, the Post reported, citing a source. The former British working royal reportedly had a sit-down with California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom just weeks before the 2020 presidential election because she “wanted to be considered to be appointed,” a source told the outlet.
Newsom’s office has a record of the meeting, which at the time was pitched as a “welcome to California” chat. It remains unclear whether Markle was ever seriously considered.
A Sussex source denied the allegation that Markle was gunning for Harris’ vacant seat. Reps for The Duchess of Sussex did not immediately respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment.
The royal couple has been associated with politicians before. In 2021, they allegedly requested a meeting with then-President Joe Biden and wanted to stay at Blair House, which is usually reserved for diplomatic leaders, the Post reported. That request was denied. 
In 2025, Markle <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSWpaFRvX6k&amp;t=10s">responded</a> to a question on her political ambitions, denying that she was interested in running for office. When pressed if she would really “never” run, the Duchess of Sussex replied, “I mean you could say, never say never &#8230;” then quickly repeated, “No. Never.” 
British royals traditionally don’t comment on American politics or endorse candidates, which is why so many followers were surprised when Prince Harry and Markle made statements that sounded like support for the Biden-Harris ticket in September 2020. 
“Every four years we are told the same thing, that this is the most important election of our lifetime,” Markle <a href="https://www.hola.com/us/royals/20200923frgleedf17/meghan-markle-prince-harry-voting-election-tv-appearance/">said</a> in their video message at the time. “But this one is. When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard. Your voice is a reminder that you matter, because you do and you deserve to be heard.”
Prince Harry chimed in, saying, “This election, I’m not going to be able to vote here in the U.S. But many of you may not know that I haven’t been able to vote in the U.K. my entire life. As we approach this November, it’s vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity.”
It was just announced that the royal couple is moving back to the United Kingdom after living stateside for the past six years. This comes after several failed lifestyle and entertainment ventures, including an abandoned podcast and a nine-figure Netflix deal that was later downgraded to a less lucrative arrangement due to an extreme lack of interest.

In an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple revealed just why they fled England and royal life for refuge in California. The transatlantic move would famously be dubbed “Megxit.”
“Lack of support, lack of security, potential racism through &#8216;<a href="https://news.sky.com/story/meghan-wrote-to-king-charles-expressing-concern-about-unconscious-bias-in-the-royal-family-reports-12863044">unconscious bias</a>,&#8217; being silenced.” These were all <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXpFFFCvcH4">reasons the couple gave</a> for why staying in the U.K. was untenable.
“My biggest concern was history repeating itself,” Harry said, referring to Meghan allegedly being tormented by the media, drawing the parallel to his mother, Princess Diana, prior to her death. Markle asserted that their voices were “silenced.” And in the most famous confession of the entire sit-down, Markle accused unnamed royal members of the family of having “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born,” referring to their unborn son. And just a little over a year ago, Harry, after losing a court battle for taxpayer-funded security, <a href="https://news.sky.com/story/prince-harry-says-loss-of-security-protection-makes-it-impossible-to-bring-meghan-and-children-to-uk-13360358">vowed that it was impossible</a> to bring his family back to his home country. He stated he couldn’t &#8220;see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point.”
Well…here we are a little over a year later. The couple has no promises of government security, no invitations (that we know of) to return as working royals, and no public resolution of the racial-bias allegations…so why are they going back, given their longstanding concerns?
Some critics and commentators say the “prodigal prince” could be returning for two major reasons: money and power. <a href="https://robshuter.substack.com/p/exclusive-harrys-60-million-legal">Celebrity reporter Rob Shuter</a> claims the Sussexes are under significant financial strain from their bills, especially because of Harry’s failed lawsuits against the U.K. press. Shuter estimates the following: “$5 million a year for private security, the upkeep of their Montecito estate, staff salaries, travel, and the costs of maintaining their global brand.” As <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/celebrity/articles/harry-reportedly-facing-financial-downward-185701598.html?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAA6x0SHDHRvNXitONi8vVaIDdZFvgCymzChNxjbxmN4m8hmu0p1HAefN43Io4m-Rp4NSTiykACenUXd1SJaTuguuHUA9Oag_raCsCkm6N9g8atn46tX3Bc8cJwfb0PBbcWu4tWEQn4tHNIU1wk5IfHMdjqUfERsB5KH2bZm403W6">one report points out,</a> &#8220;People think Harry and Meghan have unlimited money — they don&#8217;t,&#8221; another insider said. &#8220;They&#8217;ve earned a fortune, but they&#8217;ve spent one too. A financial hit of this size changes the conversation overnight.&#8221; <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/celebrity/articles/prince-harry-seeking-king-charles-120104132.html?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAA6x0SHDHRvNXitONi8vVaIDdZFvgCymzChNxjbxmN4m8hmu0p1HAefN43Io4m-Rp4NSTiykACenUXd1SJaTuguuHUA9Oag_raCsCkm6N9g8atn46tX3Bc8cJwfb0PBbcWu4tWEQn4tHNIU1wk5IfHMdjqUfERsB5KH2bZm403W6">Some speculate</a> that proximity to the bank of King Charles couldn’t hurt given the reported financial strain the couple is under.
However accurate that may or may not be, there is still the reality that the King is actively battling cancer. Prince Harry has been open about <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/05/prince-harry-seeks-reconciliation-king-charles-cancer-1236384125/">his desire to reconcile </a>with his father and that he doesn’t &#8220;know how much longer my father has.&#8221; Living in the same country would create greater opportunities for true reconciliation and give the King a chance to know his grandchildren.
But…there are also whispers swirling around that the timing of this homecoming is very deliberate. One unnamed source tells <a href="http://radaronline.com/">RadarOnline.com</a> in an exclusive that Harry is “hoping to re-establish his royal position before his estranged brother, Prince William, takes the crown along with his wife, Princess Kate [Middleton]. &#8220;Harry may never get a better window of opportunity.&#8221; It’s a claim I’ve heard bandied about more than once. It’s no secret that William and Harry are not on speaking terms. The brothers have been unable to reconcile after Harry’s negative references to William’s wife, Kate Middleton, in his <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/04/03/entertainment/prince-harry-in-painful-place-after-writing-about-kate-middleton-in-spare-expert/">bestselling memoir, Spare</a>. William certainly can’t control whether Harry and his family move back to England, but, as King, he would ultimately have far greater influence over Harry’s relationship with the institution.
Given the breaking news of their pending move this month, are we looking at a future where Harry and Meghan are royal-adjacent? Accessing Buckingham Palace while also hawking Meghan’s As Ever products? Holding court with the King while also taking Netflix calls? If that’s the case, then this might be the best arrangement the Sussexes could’ve ever envisioned.
Now, six years later, Harry and Meghan appear to be testing whether they can have the best of both worlds: the freedom of private citizens, the commercial opportunities of their Sussex brand, and the proximity and prestige that come with being members of the Royal Family. We don&#8217;t exactly know the motivation. But after years of insisting that Britain was unsafe and intolerable, their decision to return inevitably raises questions about what has really changed.
And sure, they’re entitled to change their minds about Britain. But the rest of us are entitled to ask why.

In a royal surprise, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle plan to leave California and establish a home base in the United Kingdom, British media reported Wednesday. 
The couple and their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, will head back across the pond later this month after giving up their senior royal roles and settling in California during the coronavirus pandemic,<a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2026/08/19/exclusive-harry-and-meghan-move-back-to-britain/"> The Telegraph</a> reported. With the children set to start school in September, the couple is expected to keep their homes in Montecito, California, and Portugal.
The move comes after years of bitter tensions between Harry and his estranged royal family — and just months after a low-key British trip that nonetheless caught the attention of royal watchers.
In July, King Charles III privately met with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children in the first family gathering since the royal rift erupted several years ago, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/prince-harry-reunites-with-king-charles-brings-meghan-and-children?author=Amanda+Harding&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Prince+Harry+Reunites+With+King+Charles%2C+Brings+Meghan+And+Children">The Daily Wire</a> previously reported. The king and Queen Camilla met with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet at the Highgrove House country estate. 
Relations deteriorated after Harry and Meghan’s bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which they accused an unnamed royal family member of raising concerns about how dark their first child Archie’s skin might be. The couple’s Netflix documentary and Harry’s memoir, Spare, which also included criticism of the royal family, further deepened the rift. Harry has also remained estranged from his older brother, Prince William, according to multiple reports.
After losing his appeal over government-funded security in Britain in 2025, Harry told the BBC he hoped to reconcile with his family.
“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight anymore; life is precious,” Prince Harry said, insisting that the security argument has “always been the sticking point.” He also referenced his father’s cancer battle, saying he didn’t know how much time the king had left. 
Harry has visited the U.K. without his wife on multiple occasions in recent years, including for his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022 and his father’s coronation in 2023. 
King Charles is aware of the couple’s plans and “welcomes the opportunity,” according to <a href="https://people.com/prince-harry-meghan-markle-moving-back-uk-with-prince-archie-princess-lilibet-exclusive-12061632">PEOPLE</a>. Across the pond, however, not everyone is exactly thrilled with the royal reunion. 
“I actually think a lot of people are going to be incredibly annoyed that they have been really disparaging about Britain,” GB News commentator Patrick Christys <a href="https://x.com/GBNEWS/status/2090197223241891845?s=20">said</a>. “They&#8217;ve caused huge potential racism allegations against both the serving monarch and also Catherine. They absolutely seem to have no shred of empathy whatsoever for Catherine&#8217;s cancer diagnosis. They&#8217;ve been absolutely vile, I think, about this country and about the royal family.” 
Christys also questioned the motive and timing of the relocation. 
“And yet here they are now. Their kids are getting to proper school age, and they want to move to a chocolate box quintessentially English village in the countryside, untouched by any other issues this country faces, so they can give their kids a good British education,” he added.

But I wouldn’t care about Megligraphy, except for this: Along with her rinse-and-repeat story about demanding that an allegedly misogynist <a href="https://x.com/NickRewind/status/1125399474048839681">dish soap company</a> change its TV ad when she was 12 (<a href="https://www.newsweek.com/meghan-markle-famous-feminist-dish-soap-story-questioned-vanity-fair-revenge-tom-bower-1725559">Vanity Fair</a> couldn’t even verify the whole story), she’s been talking about her handwriting for decades — and loving every minute of it.
Meghan appeared on <a href="https://youtu.be/ivBc4VeTubg?t=1">&#8220;Larry King Now&#8221;</a> in 2013, two years into unremarkably starring on “<a href="https://suits.fandom.com/wiki/Meghan_Markle">Suits</a>” and three years before landing Prince <a href="https://www.instyle.com/meghan-markle-prince-harry-relationship-11834849">Harry</a>. When King inquired as to whether Meghan was a calligrapher, she replied with characteristic pseudo-humility, “I, I, I … I used to be, yes. That was, um … I went to all-girls Catholic school. Handwriting class was one of those lost arts.” King held up the writing sample for the camera (it said “I Love Larry King”) while Meghan appeared pleased with the extra flourishes she added to drugstore cursive.
In 2016, she told <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@dinosorr5/video/7485563017799699743">AOL Build</a> that she paid the bills with commissioned calligraphy while struggling as an actress. “I just had always had nice penmanship,” she bragged. “I’d done, I don’t know, celebrity correspondence for Dolce &amp; Gabbana or The Four Seasons. I did Paula Patton and Robin Thicke’s wedding.” Oh, here, Meghan, it looks like you might have accidentally dropped these names.
Are you a survivor of the Netflix series “With Love, Meghan”? Then you saw her fawn over her own handwriting there, too. Lamenting an A-minus in penmanship class from like 100 years ago, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reels/DHWGbPyIxva/">she said</a> of the “little swirls” she’s still obsessed with including, “You know what, I’ll take the ‘minus’ for a little bit of character.” So relatable, your majesty. 
Unlike butter churning or lute playing, calligraphy isn’t some sort of ancient skillset we don’t see very much. Proving the writing style’s <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/29/style/calligraphy-handwriting-revival.html">revived popularity</a>, Etsy hosts <a href="https://www.etsy.com/market/calligraphy_on_etsy">thousands of shops</a> peddling custom designs by crafters powering a <a href="https://www.intelmarketresearch.com/calligraphy-pen-market-28985">$1.28 billion</a> global calligraphy pen market. But these are gestural, flowing expressions of art. Meghan’s is the opposite of that. 
“We know that Meghan is obsessed with appearances,” Trussell observed. “Everything in her world is hyper-controlled and super focused on perfectionism, which means she is forever teetering on the brink.” 
Maybe you’ve heard of handwriting analysis helping to <a href="https://forensicexpertinvestigation.com/handwriting-of-serial-killers/">solve crimes</a>. In the civilian lane, graphology can uncover roughly <a href="https://www.pens.com/blog/handwriting-infographic/">5,000 personality traits</a> by studying the spacing between words, the sizing of letters, and slanting and looping patterns, among other things. “Our handwriting is the unique pattern of our psychology expressed in symbols on the page, and graphology is the science of deciphering these symbols,” Trussell said. Of course I happily unleashed this resource on forensically dissecting the celebrated founder of <a href="https://asever.com/collections/spreads">fruit spread</a>.
Trussell kindly accepted my request to analyze Meghan’s calligraphy from <a href="https://asever.com/">As ever</a> brand packaging, along with Meghan’s handwritten notes that often accompany celebrity gift basket swag. Here’s what Trussell read between the lines.
“Meghan may be producing a polished performance, but from a graphologist’s perspective, it’s style over substance — a type of ephemeral pseudo sophistication that lacks soul,” Trussel shared, describing a style that functions like a tourniquet to natural flow.
You could say that someone who just teased a photo of their <a href="https://people.com/meghan-markle-celebrates-prince-archie-7th-birthday-new-photos-princess-lilibet-11967353">son Archie</a> to possibly distract from less flattering headlines about how she&#8217;s <a href="https://www.aol.com/articles/meghan-markle-prince-harry-living-085815874.html">living a separate life from her prince husband</a> might be lacking in the soul department. At least when it comes to publicity.  
Noting the stiffness and rigidity I saw on the chocolates, Trussell said of the “clockwork” nature of Meghan’s lettering, “This reflects her intolerant and inflexible approach to life, her affected, contrived and disingenuous nature, and further conceals underlying feelings of inadequacy.” That inflexibility is not at all shocking, considering how Meghan forced the Kardashians to delete <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/DlistedRoyals/comments/1oudnid/kim_kardashian_and_kris_jenner_quietly_delete/">photos of Harry</a> staring at Kris Jenner’s chest from Instagram, when it was obvious guests would be photographed at the party. 
Trussell also didn’t let Meghan off the hook when it came to the smoke-and-mirror messaging of her excessively flattering and flowery gift notes. “Whatever the truth, the fact that she feels the need to construct and project something so flawless is telling.” As we can see from the following message, there&#8217;s not enough zhuzh on Earth to obscure the main message that she was <a href="https://www.vogue.co.uk/article/meghan-markle-guest-editor-september-issue-british-vogue-2019">guest-editing British Vogue</a>.

Getting into the nitty-gritty, Trussell sees specific details in Meghan’s penmanship that tell the real story. “The way the writing tumbles forward obliquely reveals Meghan’s passion and obsession, and her acute sensitivity. Plus, the letters are nearly all joined, so interrupt her at your peril!” Mirroring the line-crossing intimacy of the time Meghan awkwardly <a href="https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/2184421/meghan-markle-latest-kelly-mckee-zajfen">cradled her friend’s baby bump</a> on a red carpet, her oversized lettering indicates manufactured confidence, Trussell says: “This is merely attention-seeking and an overcompensation for feelings of inferiority and anxiety, which are all lurking under wraps.”
While upturned strokes signal good intentions, Trussell says the fact that those lines always hook backward in the opposite direction reveals Meghan’s inflated ego and greed. “It’s all for applause and effect, without any real feeling or emotion behind the intention,” she shared. Those little frills Meghan compulsively adds reveal anxiousness, a desire for protection, and apprehension about the unknown.  
This was all extraordinarily delicious. Earlier that day, as if she could sense the future bad press, Markle shared an <a href="https://youtu.be/hY7_zZ2_O_0?t=32">Instagram video</a> featuring a glitch-like snippet of Lilibet’s voice, along with her shoe, and her tiny hand patting a chicken. If she can keep fans flapping in the breeze when it comes to her kids, the clickbait always works. But it feels less like she’s protecting her kids from the spotlight and more like she’s holding onto the only card she has left to play. When all else fails for Markle, I bet we’ll finally see <a href="https://www.instyle.com/prince-harry-meghan-markle-kids-archie-lilibet-11913353">Lilibet and Archie’s</a> faces. 
Probably too innocently nicknamed “sharenting,” posting about kids on social media remains a hotly debated topic, with <a href="https://mottpoll.org/reports-surveys/parents-social-media-likes-and-dislikes-sharenting">75% of parents</a> snitching on other parents for posting too much information about their kids online. But the opposite is true for kids who aren’t just getting “sharented” on social media; they’re built into their family’s <a href="https://share.google/ItysxZElbjdFYmSx0">billion-dollar</a> brand. 
<a href="https://share.google/GGwtIv1U6lL8ctNzv">Fifteen years</a> into posting on Instagram, we’ve all been around the block enough to know how brutal the social media microscope can be. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s oldest daughter, North West, made her <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/fDOILEOSzD/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=733a9db2-7ba2-4c6c-8425-fe90400ea051">social media debut</a> as an infant in 2013. By the ripe old age of 10 months old, she was posing with her parents for Vogue and making headlines like “<a href="https://pagesix.com/2014/03/26/north-wests-vogue-photo-shoot-faux-pas-peeing-on-kanye/">North West’s Vogue photo shoot faux pas: Peeing on Kanye</a>,” clearly aimed at humanizing the Kardashians.
Over a decade later, 12-year-old North launched her own <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DSgA9RugaXA/">Instagram </a>and a <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@kimandnorth?lang=en">TikTok account</a>, which she reportedly shares with her mom; it has 21 million followers. Recent posts show her in decidedly anti-Kardashian <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@kimandnorth/video/7605177569343786271?lang=en">blue hair</a>, finger <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/celebrity/articles/north-west-debuts-faux-septum-220134647.html">piercings</a>, fake face tattoos, and a black grill that creates the illusion of having no teeth. Is she just rebelling against her famous-for-being-famous mom? Creating an identity unrelated to her notorious rapper dad? Or just existing as a ridiculously privileged kid? Nothing’s weird when shock value is the family business.
When fans voiced concern for North’s well-being, Kim responded, “<a href="https://people.com/north-west-responds-to-criticism-of-her-dermal-piercing-11852360">It’s okay [heart hands emoji]</a>.” But as followers continue to zero in on North’s “<a href="https://thetab.com/2025/08/29/why-is-everyone-teasing-north-west-for-her-walk-the-comments-about-her-knees-need-to-stop">knock-kneed</a>” walk, the alleged <a href="https://rickeysmileymorningshow.com/3713777/kanye-west-reveals-daughter-north-west-has-dyslexia-and-bowel-issues/">&#8220;bowel&#8221; problems Kanye brought up</a>, and the <a href="https://www.eonline.com/news/1388324/north-west-shares-dyslexia-diagnosis-during-live-chat-with-mom-kim-kardashian#:~:text=North%20West%20Shares%20Dyslexia%20Diagnosis,Should%20I%20drop%20an%20album?%22">dyslexia diagnosis</a> North discussed on TikTok, &#8220;okay&#8221; doesn’t seem to paint the right picture.
It’s a similar story for kids who become regulars on other social media platforms, as the Hulu documentary &#8220;<a href="https://www.hulu.com/series/devil-in-the-family-the-fall-of-ruby-franke-302e037b-92b9-4c45-8acd-a0db60d5a159">Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke</a>” exposed. The <a href="https://kutv.com/news/local/police-records-show-multiple-responses-to-utah-youtuber-ruby-frankes-home-in-years-before-arrest-8-passengers-vlogger-springville-grama-request-child-abuse-charges-jodi-hildebrandt-dcfs">Utah-based</a> influencer family known as <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7435120/">8 Passengers</a> (two parents and six kids), headed by mom Ruby Franke, once raked in an estimated <a href="https://murdercasebook.wordpress.com/2024/12/29/ruby-franke-net-worth/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">$100,000 per month</a> on YouTube, sharing the adventures of a fun-loving <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DAheAPNORiC/">Mormon family</a>. Eight years after the channel was launched in 2015, Franke’s 12-year-old son was recorded on a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8AipFpRabo">stranger’s home security camera</a> with ligature wounds on his ankles and wrists, looking malnourished and asking for help. After a widely reported trial detailed the brutality with which Franke leveraged her children’s fame, Franke and her family therapist accomplice, Jodi Hildebrandt, were each convicted of <a href="https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/evil-influencer-the-jodi-hildebrandt-story-explained">four counts of aggravated child abuse</a> and sentenced to four consecutive <a href="https://abc7.com/post/ruby-franke-court-today-sentencing-guilty-plea-child-abuse-case/14449198/">15-year prison</a> sentences. 
Okay, I have to give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe Meghan Markle is intentionally making a solid move by not sharing much about her kids’ lives on social media until they’re old enough to decide for themselves. Still, I can&#8217;t help but wonder if she&#8217;s just waiting to cash in on the big reveal. 
In 2008, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reportedly sold exclusive photos of their newborn twins, Vivienne and Knox, to Hello! and People magazine for <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-15059015">$14 million</a>. As ethics columnist <a href="https://abcnews.com/Entertainment/story?id=4318533&amp;page=1#:~:text=J.,of%20money%2C%20parenthood%20and%20fame.">Dr. Bruce Weinstein</a> noted, “If your own parents are literally selling you out, where can one feel safe?” 
Maybe celebrity kid pics don’t go for quite as much these days, especially if you’re driving the Sussex struggle bus. But when it comes to Meghan Markle’s kids, we’ll see how bad the press needs to be for us to get the full picture.

I’m riddled with second-hand embarrassment at these failed attempts to be human, but let’s be real: They’re also entertaining. It reminds me of the Steve Buscemi <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/MemeRestoration/comments/1j3l9c1/how_do_you_do_fellow_kids_old_man_with_skateboard/">meme</a> from “30 Rock,” where his old man undercover cop character—rocking a skateboard, hoodie, and “music band” tee—asks a group of high school students, “<a href="https://youtu.be/fiOMbqPHFwo?t=28">How do you do, fellow kids</a>?” It’s almost a fetish for the ultra-wealthy to cosplay regular people. Like, hello, stop trying to co-op our normie lives, you guys.
Just check out the never-ending supply of GoFundMes <a href="https://www.thecut.com/article/people-are-pissed-at-celebrity-gofundmes.html">posted</a> by celebrities, desperate for us to understand that millionaire life is harder than we think and to donate our entire paychecks accordingly. And we enjoy no shortage of <a href="https://people.com/style/kourtney-kardashian-and-travis-barker-in-matching-outfits-at-truck-stop/">photoshoots</a> from stars turning shopping for Cheetos at 7-Eleven into high fashion. Of course, who could forget the time Ellen DeGeneres compared quarantining in her multi-million dollar California home to “<a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ellen-degeneres-quarantine-jail-comparison-backlash/">being in jail</a>,” or the bit where <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad_higXixRA">Bill Gates</a> guessed grocery prices on her show.

Sorry not sorry for dunking on Meghan Markle, duchess of Southern California, but she commits this crime like it’s her brand. Her Netflix series, “<a href="https://www.netflix.com/title/81770808">With Love, Meghan</a>,” portrayed the daily goings-on of a domestic goddess happily tending to her loving family, when in her personal life, Meghan <a href="https://www.nowtolove.com.au/royals/meghan-markle-first-husband-trevor-engelson-69769/">ditched her first husband</a> and most of her relatives at the first whiff of fame and money. She said she had <a href="https://youtu.be/2VDycxkZeRw?t=89">no idea who Prince Harry was</a>, even though she was already <a href="https://www.tatler.com/article/meghan-markle-princess-eugenie-friendship">buds with Princess Eugenie</a> before dating him; she alleged she was <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/07/world/europe/oprah-interview-harry-meghan.html">suffocated by royal fashion protocol in England</a>, and yet she <a href="https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/slideshow/2574444/meghan-markle-princess-diana-fashion-photos/10/">copied Princess Diana</a>’s look any <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintMeghanMarkle/comments/10ljd24/was_harry_a_mark_meghan_cosplaying_diana_down_to/">chance she got</a>.

Maybe it’s the denser atmosphere down here on planet Earth, but we can spot A-list bull honky from a mile away. But the real key to connecting with us normies isn’t relatability; it’s authenticity. Need proof? In a recent <a href="https://about.netflix.com/en/news/what-we-watched-the-first-half-of-2025">Engagement Report</a> put out by the streamer, the “Polo” documentary was listed as number 3,436 on the list of shows ranked by most-watched, while Markle’s new series came in at number 383.
A second season of “With Love, Meghan” has already been filmed and is set to debut in September. Her first <a href="https://people.com/chrissy-teigen-appear-season-2-meghan-markle-netflix-series-with-love-meghan-11736557">confirmed</a> guest star is Chrissy Teigen.
“There’s no animosity from either side,” an unnamed source told The Sun of Netflix’s decision not to renew the contract. “Things have just run their course.”
The insider also discussed why “Harry &amp; Meghan” was the most successful project so far. 
“Netflix were clever in that they got a hell of a lot of viewers for the first documentary series, and knew, realistically, it would prove the zenith of content from the Montecito pair,&#8221; the source said, noting that the partnership ending represents a &#8220;huge loss of revenue.&#8221;
“They’re not unhappy with how things turned out — they got those initial hits, and produced one of the most talked-about shows of all time,&#8221; the insider added. 
Prince Harry and Markle have had a hard time achieving fame and success in the United States after quitting their full-time working royal roles in 2020 and moving to California permanently. Critics have been vocal in their distaste, as reflected on social media after news of the Netflix partnership&#8217;s end came to light.
“Good. The grifters are out of business,” one person <a href="https://x.com/TerryinSoCalif/status/1948052133389213733">wrote</a>, echoing what many others were saying.
“I am only surprised that Netflix thought this was a good business decision in the first place,” another commenter <a href="https://x.com/julie_mcbane/status/1947997610658128182">observed</a>.
“Thank goodness. Insufferable fools,” a third agreed.
