On Tuesday, a Catholic priest whose vehicle was adorned with an anti-abortion bumper sticker featuring a quote from St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, found a handwritten note on his car reading, “The only good baby is a dead baby.”
Fr. Benedict Croell, O.P., vocation director for the Dominican Province of St. Joseph, was visiting the campus of the University of Virginia with vocation candidates for the Order of Preachers. The bumper sticker on his car read, “Abortion — It is poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.”
Then Croell found the note on his car, which read, “The only good baby is a dead baby. Your mother should have aborted you.” He posted a picture of the note on his Facebook page, then wrote:
When I was at UVA recently just before Christmas with a couple of vocation candidates we came back to our car and check out the disturbing note we found on the windshield. Apparently they were upset at the words of Mother Teresa on our bumper sticker. Let’s storm heaven with prayers for this person! Please pray 1 Our Father and 1 Hail Mary for the conversion of the person who wrote the note, for an end to abortion, and for women and men who suffer the effects of an abortion. So many are suffering, and it is important that we have mercy upon them with our prayers. UPDATE: I already offered Mass for the conversion, transformation and deliverance of the person who wrote it.
Croell isn’t new to the fight against abortion; he was one of the leaders of a protest against Planned Parenthood in 2015.
