Police in Queens, New York, arrested four individuals who were participating in an anti-vaccine mandate sit-in at an Applebee’s Wednesday night. The establishment requires patrons to be vaccinated as is required under New York City’s COVID-19 restriction rules.

Multiple police officers were seen on video handling the restaurant-goers, who attempted to order food from the vaccine-required restaurant.

As Insider reported, the arrests came a day after six individuals were arrested at a New York Cheesecake Factory while attempting the same stunt. Insider also reported that other videos “showed a group of anti-mandate protesters crowding around the NYPD after the Applebee’s arrests, chanting: ‘Shame on you.'”

In response to the arrests, president of the New York Young Republicans Club and GETTR global marketing director Gavin Wax provided the following statement to The Daily Wire, slamming the city for allowing “violent” criminals to walk freely:

Activists in New York City are being arrested for engaging in sit-ins at restaurants that refuse to serve them on account of vaccine status. So while the city is arresting people for wanting to eat a burger indoors they continue to let violent career criminals walk free with desk appearance tickets. This is Anarcho-tyranny exemplified in America’s largest city.

Abigail Marone — a spokeswoman for Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) — echoed these sentiments on Twitter, saying, “Just a thought… but maybe New York City should prioritize arresting people who are committing violent crimes? Or smash and grabs? Or literally anything besides this.”

As The Daily Wire reported, New York is one of 12 cities to experience record-setting violent crime this past year. The Big Apple is home to some of the most homicides in America:

An ABC News report featuring 12 U.S. cities that have set annual homicide records in 2021 reveals every city is led by a Democratic mayor as President Joe Biden’s first year in office is plagued by growing crime.

The dozen cities featured in the ABC News report on Wednesday included Portland, Oregon; St. Paul, Minnesota; Indianapolis, Indiana; Toledo, Ohio; Rochester, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Austin, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

New York City currently requires patrons to be vaccinated with at least one COVID-19 shot at all indoor restaurants. That mandate will soon be changing to require “fully vaccinated” customers to have received at least two shots. It will also extend to children ages five and up.
