An ABC News report featuring 12 U.S. cities that have set annual homicide records in 2021 reveals every city is led by a Democratic mayor as President Joe Biden’s first year in office is plagued by growing crime.
The dozen cities featured in the ABC News report on Wednesday included Portland, Oregon; St. Paul, Minnesota; Indianapolis, Indiana; Toledo, Ohio; Rochester, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Austin, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In Joe Biden’s America crime is on the rise.
So far this year, 12 major American cities have new annual homicide records.

The report first featured Philadelphia, noting the city’s 13% increase over 2020:
Philadelphia, a city of roughly 1.5 million people, has had more homicides this year (521 as of Dec. 6) than the nation’s two largest cities, New York (443 as of Dec. 5) and Los Angeles (352 as of Nov. 27). That’s an increase of 13% from 2020, a year that nearly broke the 1990 record.
In addition to 12 cities with record homicide levels, Chicago homicides this year have been high with a reported 777 homicides in the city. The Daily Wire’s Tim Meads reported last week:
In 2021, Cook County, Illinois has had more than 1,000 homicides — including 777 in Chicago — according to CBS Chicago.
The staggering figure is the highest number of murders recorded for the county since 1994, which recorded 1,141 homicides that year.
According to the local media, “the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said, as of Tuesday, the county’s homicide total stands at 1,009, with more than a month still to go in 2021. Of those, 927 were gun-related homicides.”
As to the victims’ demographics in Cook County CBS2 reported that, “the vast majority of homicide victims have been Black, with 81% of the victims identified as African American. Latinos accounted for about 15% of the county’s homicide victims,” according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Chicago’s rising murder rate in 2021 comes on top of a nationwide increase in homicides in 2020.
The Hill noted the problem of rising crime in major cities for Democrats as far back as July. “All of those places are run by Democratic mayors; so are the bigger cities where crime has surged,” the outlet reported.
The report also noted, “Add to that, that it’s the left wing of the Democratic Party that wants to ‘defund’ the police, that it’s progressive Democrats who came up with the idea to ‘reimagine policing,’ and none of this bodes well for Democrats next year. Voters don’t like politicians who are soft on crime — and hard on cops.”
Colorado Republican Rep. Ken Buck noted Democrat weakness on crime is not only hurting the party, but also the American people, in comments following the Waukesha parade attack that killed six people in Wisconsin.
“Democrats are soft on crime and it is hurting the American people,” Buck tweeted.
