Socialite and reality star Paris Hilton opened up about her previous abortion, her thoughts on abortion access, and the real reason she chose surrogacy in an interview published Thursday.
The 42-year-old celebrity made the remarks during a recent interview with Glamour UK. Hilton explained she got pregnant in her early 20s but claimed she wasn’t ready to become a mom at the time. “This was also something that I didn’t want to talk about because there was so much shame around that,” the socialite said. “I was a kid and I was not ready for that.”
She also said she was opposed to Roe v. Wade being overturned in June 2022.
“I think it is important,” Hilton told the publication. “There’s just so much politics around it and all that, but it’s a woman’s body … Why should there be a law based on that? It’s your body, your choice and I really believe in that.”
“It’s mind-boggling to me that they’re making laws about what you do with your reproductive health, because if it were the other way around with the guys, it would not be this way at all,” she added.
The “Simple Life” alum just welcomed a baby boy via surrogate and discussed a bit of her thought process behind that, too. She told Glamour that she and husband Carter Reum chose to freeze their embryos and wound up with 20 boys. Now they’re doing IVF again in hopes of getting a girl.
“I just went through the process again a month ago, so I’m waiting for the results to see if there’s any girls,” she revealed.
When asked about using a surrogate rather than giving birth herself, the 41-year-old reality star said her age had nothing to do with it. She spoke with Kim Kardashian, who also used a surrogate, to discuss how to navigate the process.

Hilton said part of her reluctance stemmed from alleged abuse she endured at Provo Canyon School and another part was just the idea of giving birth.
“I’m just so scared, I think, again, leading back to Provo of even being in a doctor’s office, just all of that. The shots, the IVs that they put in,” Hilton said.
“When I was in ‘The Simple Life,’ I had to be in a room when a woman was giving birth and that traumatized me as well. But I want a family so bad, it’s just the physical part of doing it. I’m just so scared … childbirth and death are the two things that scare me more than anything in the world.”
