The abortion pill is many times more dangerous than the FDA claimed, with more than one in 10 women suffering serious complications, a new study found.
About 11.2% of 154,554 women experienced a &#8220;serious adverse event&#8221; after taking the mifepristone abortion pill in 2023, according to new <a href="https://www.ffroa.com/chemical-abortion-research/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research</a> commissioned by the Foundation for the Restoration of America and released Monday.
That works out to about 17,310 women who suffered serious adverse events, which can include hemorrhaging, needing a blood transfusion, an emergency room visit, and even deadly conditions like sepsis.
This is about 22 times higher than what the FDA put on its label for the brand Mifeprex in 2023 — the FDA <a href="https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2023/020687Orig1s025Lbl.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cited</a> clinical studies saying less than 0.5% of women suffered &#8220;serious adverse reactions&#8221; to mifepristone.
The two-pill chemical abortion regimen, mifepristone usually followed by misoprostol, aims to end the life of the unborn baby and expel it from the woman&#8217;s uterus. However, the drugs sometimes fail to expel all the fetal tissue, which can cause life-threatening complications.
&#8220;This drastic difference between the disclosed risk and the actual risk to patients undermines informed consent and endangers the lives of pregnant women,&#8221; the researchers wrote, adding that policymakers and regulators should take action.
&#8220;This is much different than the lie that women have been told that these drugs are safer than Tylenol,&#8221; Dr. Christina Francis, a board-certified OBGYN who has been in practice for two decades, told The Daily Wire.
Plus, the research only analyzed data from insurance claims for government insurance like Medicare and Medicaid between 2017 and 2023, so the total number of women who suffered serious complications is likely even higher.
Over those six years, the number of chemical abortions jumped dramatically from less than 100,000 to over 150,000 a year, likely due to the drug&#8217;s increased availability online, the insurance claims data show.
Medication abortions are far more common than surgical abortions. Medication abortions made up 63% of all abortions in 2023, up from 31% in 2014, <a href="https://www.guttmacher.org/2024/03/medication-abortion-accounted-63-all-us-abortions-2023-increase-53-2020" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute.
The abortion pill is likely the main factor driving up the country&#8217;s total number of abortions in recent years, even in the wake of the Supreme Court&#8217;s decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade.
Abortion advocates have argued that the abortion pill should be more available to order online now that some Republican-led states ban abortion.
A few months before Roe vs. Wade was overturned, the FDA scrapped the requirement that women must obtain abortion pills in person from a health provider, allowing them to obtain them online through the mail.
Afterward, Francis, the pro-life OBGYN, said one emergency doctor pulled her aside and asked, &#8220;What has changed because we&#8217;re seeing so many more women come in with these complications.&#8221;
Mifepristone was originally approved by the FDA in 2000.
&#8220;This bombshell report is further evidence that our government uses phony data and politicized science to lie to its people. In this case, those lies further political ideologies rather than the health, safety, and well-being of women and children,&#8221; Doug Truax, founder of the Foundation for the Restoration of America, which commissioned the study, told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;If you had any other drug that was kind of similar in terms of the magnitude of what this thing does, anywhere north of 2% and they&#8217;d shut it down,&#8221; Truax said. 
&#8220;They&#8217;re just hell bent on just increasing the amount of abortions.&#8221;

The Kansas City Star has intervened in abortionists&#8217; lawsuit against the state, demanding the abortion providers reveal hidden court records.
The abortion providers are suing over new state abortion requirements that are currently suspended as the lawsuit makes its way through the courts, including that a woman must wait 24 hours before getting an abortion and that doctors must tell women the abortion pill is reversible.
The Star objected to an agreement between the abortion providers and Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach to allow certain exhibits to be filed under seal.
&#8220;The public has a right to know what is happening in judicial proceedings,&#8221; the Kansas City Star&#8217;s executive editor Greg Farmer <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/the-kc-star-moves-to-intervene-in-kansas-abortion-lawsuit-over-hidden-court-records/ar-AA1CLQTW?ocid=BingNewsSerp" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;The efforts in this case to hide records from public view are an attack on long-established democratic principles.&#8221;
&#8220;Our goal with this motion is to fight for our readers and all Kansans and to ensure and advocate for transparency on their behalf,&#8221; Farmer said.
In a court filing, the newspaper asked a Johnson County District Court judge to unseal the exhibits filed under seal, with redactions for patients&#8217; names and personal information.
The abortion providers had filed certain court records as &#8220;confidential&#8221; or &#8220;attorneys&#8217; eyes only.&#8221;
The suit was <a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article276149576.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed</a> back in 2023 against several state officials by three Kansas abortion providers, Planned Parenthood Great Plains, Hodes and Nauser Women’s Health, and the Center for Reproductive Rights.
The abortion providers are suing over a group of new state restrictions around abortions.
The new rules <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/the-kc-star-moves-to-intervene-in-kansas-abortion-lawsuit-over-hidden-court-records/ar-AA1CLQTW?ocid=BingNewsSerp" target="_blank" rel="noopener">require</a> doctors to meet with a woman 24 hours before her abortion and provide her with detailed information about her pregnancy. The rules also require that abortion providers survey women and ask their most important reason for choosing abortion with options like financial stress, rape, fetal disability, or health of the mother.
The doctor <a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article276149576.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">must</a> also listen to the baby&#8217;s heartbeat 30 minutes before performing an abortion and post information in the abortion clinic and on its website that abortion could increase the risk of breast cancer and premature birth in future pregnancies. The rules also require that women be told the abortion pill is &#8220;reversible&#8221; if they have only taken the first pill of the two-dose regimen.
“This legislation ensures that women in this situation are provided with all medical information and it’s appalling that Planned Parenthood would attempt to block this information to satisfy their donor base,” Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins, a Republican, <a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article276149576.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
Kansas currently <a href="https://states.guttmacher.org/policies/kansas/abortion-policies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allows</a> abortions up to 22 weeks.

In its list of the “100 Most Influential People of 2025,” which is chock-full of leftist personalities, TIME included Julie Burkhart, the co-owner of the Hope Clinic in Granite City, Illinois, which proudly offers abortions up to the <a href="https://hopeclinic.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">28th week of pregnancy</a>.
In an astonishing choice of words, the Hope Clinic calls the baby in utero at 27 weeks, “pregnancy tissue,” writing, “An abortion procedure also known as ‘surgical abortion’ or ‘in-clinic abortion’ is a simple, safe procedure that involves a pelvic exam, dilation of the cervix, and removal of the pregnancy tissue through vacuum aspiration and additional instruments,” <a href="https://hopeclinic.com/services/de-abortion-granite-city-il/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">adding</a>, “Abortion procedures done at the Hope Clinic after 16 weeks are typically done over 2-3 consecutive clinic visits. The procedure consists of dilation of the cervix followed by removal of the pregnancy with suction in combination with the use of other special instruments (dilation and evacuation – D&amp;E).”

WASHINGTON—Two Republican congressmen are calling on FBI Director Kash Patel to investigate &#8220;the case of five aborted children&#8221; whose deaths were covered up during President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration, The Daily Wire can first report.
Reps. Chip Roy of Texas and Andy Biggs of Arizona argue to Patel in the Tuesday letter first obtained by The Daily Wire that, under the Biden administration, the FBI &#8220;departed from its core public safety mission, suffered from senior leadership failures, and refused any real transparency or accountability for its actions.&#8221;
The premie-sized baby bodies were discovered by pro-life activists Lauren Handy and Terrisa Bukovinac outside a Washington, D.C. area abortion clinic in 2022 shortly before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, as The Daily Wire has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-went-to-the-clinic-of-the-dc-abortionist-accused-of-gruesome-crimes-heres-what-i-saw">extensively reported</a>. Though advocates and Republican lawmakers have sounded the alarm for years about these babies, warning that they appear to have been brutally and illegally aborted in violation of federal law, D.C. and the Biden administration took no steps to properly investigate the matter, instead targeting the women who recovered the bodies.
&#8220;As Chairs of the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government and the Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance, we remain concerned about the Biden-Harris Administration’s refusal to investigate the circumstances of the case of five aborted children, also known as the D.C. Five, whose remains were allegedly discovered at the Washington Surgi-Clinic in March 2022 by a pro-life advocacy group,&#8221; the congressmen wrote.
&#8220;As we continue to conduct our investigation into the District of Columbia’s enforcement of the Partial-Birth Abortion Act and the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, serious questions remain surrounding the deaths of these children.&#8221;
The letter specifically requests that the FBI review the decision not to move forward with an investigation into the baby bodies, as well as the Biden administration&#8217;s &#8220;apparent decision not to enforce the Partial-Birth Abortion Act and the Born Alive Infants Protection Act.&#8221;
&#8220;While MPD maintained that the unborn children were &#8216;aborted in accordance with the law,&#8217; 5 pro-life advocates noted evidence that the children were victims of partial-birth abortions,&#8221; the lawmakers write. &#8220;Aborting a child through a partial-birth abortion is a crime under federal law. The Supreme Court of the United States upheld the federal ban on partial-birth abortions in 2007.&#8221;
The lawmakers note that a violation of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act is a &#8220;serious accusation,&#8221; and not one to be &#8220;taken lightly.&#8221;
&#8220;Despite this significant claim, both the MPD and the Biden-Harris Administration chose to ignore any potential evidence of a crime for two years,&#8221; they write. &#8220;The Biden-Harris Department of Justice at one point allegedly directed the D.C. Medical Examiner to dispose of the bodies because &#8216;there [was] no reason to keep those babies anymore.'&#8221;
Roy and Biggs emphasized President Donald Trump&#8217;s commitment to &#8220;protect and respect every life—born and unborn,&#8221; and argued that medical experts have previously alleged that these aborted children &#8220;showed signs of being victims of partial-birth abortions.&#8221;

&#8220;Yet no independent examination outside the D.C. Medical Examiner’s office has been conducted,&#8221; the lawmakers argue. &#8220;Based on evidence collected at the time of recovery, including the disturbing photos of the children, all five of these children appear to have developed well past the point of viability and likely suffered severely painful abortion procedures. However, without an independent and unbiased medical examination, it is not known how each child died.&#8221;
&#8220;Serious questions remain about the circumstances of these children’s deaths,&#8221; they continued. &#8220;If partial- birth abortions were conducted on these unborn children, that is a violation of federal law and should be investigated accordingly.&#8221;
The lawmakers request that Patel and the FBI review the evidence related to the &#8220;D.C. Five&#8221; by 5:00 p.m., on April 29, and that Patel arrange for &#8220;appropriate FBI officials to provide a staff level briefing related to the FBI’s review and potential investigation regarding the D.C. Five.&#8221;
The call to action is consequential. This is the first time that Republicans have held power since the baby bodies were discovered — and an FBI investigation may expose that D.C. abortionist Cesare Santangelo has been committing gruesome crimes just miles from the White House. The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-went-to-the-clinic-of-the-dc-abortionist-accused-of-gruesome-crimes-heres-what-i-saw">reported in April 2022</a> that pro-life <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/d-c-authorities-wont-autopsy-recovered-bodies-of-these-aborted-babies-police-are-hiding-barbaric-crimes-pro-lifers-say">medical professionals and experts</a> estimated that the babies were at the end of the 2nd trimester or in the 3rd trimester when they were aborted.

Pro-life activists, like those with the Progressive Anti Abortion Uprising, believe that Santangelo has been allowing babies born alive through his botched abortions to die in his clinic. Their claims stem in part from undercover videos in which Live Action <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxOWyumLufA">recorded Santangelo discussing</a> how he would allow babies to die if they were accidentally delivered during abortions.
“Very strong evidence suggests the ‘DC Five’ unborn children were killed within miles of our US Capitol building,&#8221; Roy told The Daily Wire on Tuesday. &#8220;I have sent a friendly letter to our Department of Justice aiming to get answers about why the Biden Administration did not investigate this brutal and likely illegal act, as well as the apparent decision not to enforce the Partial-Birth Abortion Act and the Born Alive Infants Protection Act.&#8221;
&#8220;I am confident the current leadership at the DOJ and FBI will take action to defend life in our nation’s capital and to ensure that these five babies receive justice,&#8221; he added.
The activists who found the babies told The Daily Wire in 2022 that Santangelo has a history of “sloppy,” “cheap” abortions. They emotionally described to The Daily Wire how they discovered the bodies, detailing opening a large bucket in which &#8220;Baby Boy #1&#8221; was lying. They named him &#8220;Christopher X,&#8221; and Bukovinac described him as “a beautiful 30+ week baby boy with hair on his head,&#8221; saying that she believes he was most likely born alive.
Handy, who was prosecuted by the Biden Justice Department for protesting outside abortion clinics and jailed until Trump pardoned her in January, said that the injuries that another one of the babies has are “consistent with what we’d expect from a partial-birth abortion — which is a federal crime.”
“Santangelo has a history of being sloppy, facing wrongful death lawsuits, and ignoring the law,” she said.

WASHINGTON — Missouri&#8217;s Republican senator Josh Hawley unleashed on Code Pink activists who confronted him in the halls of Congress on Thursday, videos first obtained by The Daily Wire show.
As the senator took a question from a reporter about TikTok, the head of Code Pink, Medea Benjamin, questioned Hawley, &#8220;How about weapons to Israel?&#8221; holding a phone up to his face to record his response. Hawley, aware of which group she was with, quickly responded: &#8220;Oh, you&#8217;re the China people! You are 100% funded by the Chinese Communist Party.&#8221;
Code Pink is a far-left anti-war group known for its antisemitism and ties to China. The <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/05/world/europe/neville-roy-singham-china-propaganda.html">New York Times reported</a> in 2023 that the group is part of a &#8220;lavishly funded influence campaign&#8221; working closely with &#8220;the Chinese government media machine&#8221; to promote the CCP — it has, in turn, gone as far as defending the Chinese detention of Uyghur Muslims.
The group, which has aligned with Hamas since its October 7, 2023 terrorist attack against Israel, has <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2024/09/17/josh-hawley-fires-back-protesters-swarmed-him-after-hearing-code-pink-palestine-ccp/">repeatedly protested</a> against Hawley, who has defended the Trump administration in its efforts to deport anti-Israel protesters who promote Hamas on college campuses.

Another video obtained by The Daily Wire shows Benjamin pursuing Hawley, asking why he is sending taxpayer dollars to &#8220;bomb people in Gaza,&#8221; questioning, &#8220;Are you America first? Are you America first?&#8221;
At this point, another activist appears on the scene, this one dressed in a black and white keffiyeh, and she tells Hawley, &#8220;You&#8217;re a baby killer.&#8221;
&#8220;You&#8217;re a baby killer,&#8221; he responded. &#8220;The Uyghur babies? Their blood is on your hands. The blood of the Chinese is on your hands. And of course of the Jews.&#8221;

&#8220;You are a war criminal, baby killer,&#8221; responds the younger activist, raising her voice emotionally as the senator departs. In the background, the elderly activist calls after him, &#8220;Baby killer, you have blood on your hands.&#8221;
During a Senate Help Committee last week on antisemitism on campuses, the senator grilled a Democrat witness on what is being done to protect students on college campuses for anti-semitism. Hawley strongly defended the decision to deport Ivy League anti-Israel ringleader Mahmoud Khalil, saying: “I want to say for the record, I’m glad [Mahmoud Khalil] is gone, and I hope he never comes back.&#8221;

The Supreme Court on Wednesday heard oral arguments in a case that will determine whether South Carolina can pull the plug on state-administered Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood. 
The case centers around a woman who sued the state Department of Health after it said she couldn’t use money from the state’s Medicaid program at Planned Parenthood South Atlantic. Arguments focused on whether Medicaid recipients can sue the state over the policy and if South Carolina has the authority to make guidelines about where the money can be used. 
John Bursch, a lawyer with Alliance Defending Freedom representing South Carolina, and the Trump administration argued that the state had no legal obligation to designate funds for abortion providers. 
“Disqualifying abortion providers like [Planned Parenthood] ensures that women receive comprehensive medical care,” Bursch <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/23/23-1275/341725/20250203121003568_23-1275%20Brief%20for%20the%20Petitioner.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> in a legal brief to the court. “It also ensures that South Carolina’s Medicaid funding goes toward improving ‘access to necessary medical care and important women’s health and family planning services’ for all women—rather than improving Planned Parenthood’s ability to free up funding to pay for abortions.”
Bursch and the Justice Department argued that the Medicaid Act does not create a right for a recipient to choose a provider. 
Nicole Saharsky, a lawyer for Planned Parenthood, argued that the state has an obligation to allocate Medicaid funding to the health care provider of the recipient&#8217;s choosing. 
“As this case comes to the court it is established that South Carolina violated the statute by denying Julie Edwards of her choice of a qualified and willing provider,” she said. “The only question is whether she can do something about it.” 
Several of the justices, including Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, appeared skeptical of several of Saharsky’s claims. 
Bursch argued that South Carolina&#8217;s two Planned Parenthood affiliates offer little of what actually constitutes health care and were rightly excluded from the program. 
“While both entities claim to offer a range of healthcare services, they mainly offer abortions, contraception, STD testing, other screenings, and experimental puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to those who identify as transgender, including minors,” he wrote in a filing to the court. 
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, who directed the state to stop sending Medicaid dollars toward Planned Parenthood, was at the Supreme Court for the hearing. 
“I&#8217;m in Washington this morning as we defend South Carolina&#8217;s right to exclude Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers from our Medicaid program,” he <a href="https://x.com/henrymcmaster/status/1907417543293444520" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> on X. 
There are <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-rep-biggs-calls-on-doge-to-probe-planned-parenthood-ceos-exorbitant-salaries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">currently efforts</a> underway to slash federal funding for Planned Parenthood, which ended the lives of around 392,715 unborn children from 2022 to 2023, according to its most recent annual reports. During that same period, Planned Parenthood received nearly $700 million in federal funding.

Planned Parenthood shouldn’t receive one cent of Americans’ taxpayer dollars. That’s the central truth at the heart of a landmark case the U.S. Supreme Court will hear on April 2, <a href="https://adflegal.org/case/medina-v-planned-parenthood-south-atlantic/?utm_source=dailywire&amp;utm_medium=oped" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic</a>. The incredibly flawed and corrupt abortion industry is a sham of women’s true health care.
I know. I used to work in an abortion facility.
Before my eyes were opened to the truth of life in the womb and the unspeakable harms abortion inflicts on both child and mother, I was a medical assistant at an abortion facility in Illinois. The doctors would perform between 40-60 abortions a day, six days a week. We had between five to eight minutes to get a woman on the table for her procedure and then move her quickly to the next room so doctors could perform the next abortion.
It was a fast-moving train of patient to patient to patient. If you didn’t have the girl ready when the doctor came in, you were slowing him down. He’d write you up, and that would go into your employment file. It was very important to move quickly so the doctors could perform as many abortions as possible, up to 10 additional each day.
One former Planned Parenthood nurse recently remarked on the fast pace of abortion facilities. She shared her own experience in a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/15/us/planned-parenthood-clinics.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Times article</a>: “Employees sometimes administered expired pain medication or the wrong medications as they scrambled to move people in and out.” She added, “It was not uncommon for patients to be taken to the wrong room and prepped for the wrong procedure.”
All of that is deeply disturbing, but unfortunately, it doesn’t surprise me. The focus of the industry that loudly touts “women’s health care” is on one thing: Money. And abortion is big money. In fact, it is the most significant driving factor in the abortion industry.
Between 2018 and 2023, Planned Parenthood (the largest abortion provider in the U.S.) <a href="https://www.plannedparenthood.org/uploads/filer_public/ce/f6/cef6efdb-919a-4211-bb5c-ce0d61fda7f5/2024-ppfa-annualreport-c3-digital.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">received</a> $3.2 billion in direct public funding. Each year, it receives hundreds of millions more from private donors. Since 2022, it has experienced a fundraising boom, amassing over $2.5 billion in net assets.
But its supporters are being deceived into believing big abortion equals comprehensive care for women. Planned Parenthood takes donors’ money and spends it on political activism, not people, and certainly not women’s health care.
The aforementioned New York Times article reported that, over the last five years, “the national office has distributed more than $899 million to affiliates to help them deliver care, but none of it went directly to medical services.” Much of the money went instead to pro-abortion politicking, legal costs, and marketing.
Between 2022 and 2023, women’s preventative-care visits <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/more-abortions-more-taxpayer-dollars-and-fewer-health-services/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fell by 31%</a>, and the number of patients seen annually <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/15/us/planned-parenthood-clinics.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has fallen 60% since the 1990s</a>. <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/fact-sheet-planned-parenthoods-2022-23-annual-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cancer screening and prevention services</a> have dropped by 71% since 2010, including declines of 72% for breast exams and 74% for pap tests.
Americans should never be forced to fund any activist organization, much less one with such an abysmal and deceptive track record, especially when the <a href="https://www.kofc.org/en/news-room/polls/americans-support-legal-limits-on-abortion.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">majority of Americans</a> reject taxpayer funding for abortion.
The state of South Carolina agreed. It rightly determined that Planned Parenthood doesn’t qualify as a health care provider that should receive Medicaid dollars. In response, Planned Parenthood sued the state, and now the nation’s highest court is weighing this <a href="https://adflegal.org/campaign/medina/?utm_source=dailywire&amp;utm_medium=oped" target="_blank" rel="noopener">critical case</a>.
States should be free to direct their funding to providers offering genuine, comprehensive health care by excluding organizations like Planned Parenthood—whose primary business is abortion—from public funding. There are roughly 200 publicly funded health care clinics in South Carolina that provide a broad range of high-quality services, including family-planning services. Consider also the numerous pregnancy centers offering valuable, free services to women in need.
It’s been my great honor to have seen firsthand these service-oriented organizations at work in their communities.
For nearly four decades, I’ve worked at Mosaic Health, a pregnancy center with two locations in Illinois. We’ve served more than 25,000 clients by offering no-cost pregnancy testing and ultrasounds, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, post-abortion counseling, adoption referrals, parenting classes, and a wide array of practical resources for new parents, from diapers to clothes to bottles.
Yet the state of Illinois works diligently to force us to close our doors. Current state law specifically targets pregnancy centers like Mosaic because of our fundamentally held belief that abortion offers no benefits, especially to the unborn baby. Because the U.S. Supreme Court <a href="https://adflegal.org/press-release/us-supreme-court-govt-cant-force-americans-express-messages-they-disagree/?utm_source=dailywire&amp;utm_medium=oped">held</a> that forcing people to promote abortion is unconstitutional, we’ve partnered with Alliance Defending Freedom and other Illinois pregnancy centers to <a href="https://adflegal.org/case/national-institute-family-and-life-advocates-v-treto/?utm_source=dailywire&amp;utm_medium=oped">challenge</a> this unconstitutional law. I, along with many others across our state, pray the district court will see the law’s injustice and uphold our freedom as a pregnancy center to operate according to our deeply held beliefs.
But I’m also looking to the U.S. Supreme Court as they weigh the Medina case, hoping they will agree with the ADF attorneys representing South Carolina and find that states should be free to spend their funds on true, comprehensive, life-affirming health care for women and children.

Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs is calling on Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency to investigate Planned Parenthood after a report revealed the &#8220;outrageous salaries” paid to executives of the federally-funded abortion giant, according to a letter first shared with The Daily Wire. 
Biggs sent a letter on Tuesday to Musk asking DOGE to look into the financial practices of Planned Parenthood, which received around $699 million in taxpayer dollars from 2022-2023. The letter comes in response to a <a href="https://all.org/press-releases/planned-parenthood-nonprofit-executive-now-earns-annual-salary-of-nearly-1-million" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from the American Life League highlighting the top-dollar salaries of Planned Parenthood executives. 
“The staggering financial abuses within Planned Parenthood demand investigation,” Biggs wrote, according to a copy of the letter shared with The Daily Wire. “A recent report reveals that Planned Parenthood affiliate CEOs are making well into the six figures, with some earning nearly a million dollars per year, while the organization continues to kill unborn children.”
Biggs&#8217; letter cited an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-report-reveals-planned-parenthood-ceos-staggering-salaries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> from The Daily Wire which first reported on the American Life League’s analysis. According to the conservative watchdog, the average salary of a Planned Parenthood CEO increased from $317,564 to $352,661 — an 11% increase — between 2020 and 2023. This means that Planned Parenthood CEOs are paid three times as much as the average nonprofit CEO. 
“As someone committed to transparency and accountability, you have shown a willingness to challenge corruption and expose powerful institutions,” Biggs wrote to Musk. “I urge you to use your platform and resources to investigate Planned Parenthood’s financial practices, particularly how it justifies exorbitant executive salaries as the nation’s largest abortion provider.”
American Life League National Director Katie Brown Xavios praised the Republicans for the letter.
“American Life League commends Congressman Andy Biggs and his fellow Republicans for taking a bold stand in the effort to defund Planned Parenthood. We are honored that our 2025 Report on Planned Parenthood CEO Compensation is igniting action in Washington,&#8221; she told The Daily Wire. &#8220;We want to expose the organization’s greed as it pads its payroll, while exploiting vulnerable women. American Life League remains committed to supporting Representative Biggs and DOGE in the fight to end taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood once and for all.”
Other Republicans who signed onto the letter included Reps. Mary Miller (IL), Mark Harris  (NC), Clay Higgins (LA), and Andy Ogles (TN).
Back in November, Musk wrote in a Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/opinion/musk-and-ramaswamy-the-doge-plan-to-reform-government-supreme-court-guidance-end-executive-power-grab-fa51c020" target="_blank" rel="noopener">op-ed</a> that funding for Planned Parenthood would come under the microscope of DOGE, which is seeking to slash government waste.
Throughout his time in Congress, Biggs has called for Planned Parenthood to be defunded. Last week, he <a href="https://x.com/RepAndyBiggsAZ/status/1905326524607193436" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spoke</a> at a rally on Capitol Hill alongside other pro-life advocates to take advantage of Republican control of Congress and the White House to gut federal funding for the organization, which ended the lives of around 392,715 unborn children from 2022-2023. 
In the coming weeks, Republicans will have an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-lifers-urge-gop-to-take-advantage-of-rare-chance-to-defund-planned-parenthood" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opportunity to cut funding</a> through the budget reconciliation process. The last time they had a similar opportunity was in 2017, when they failed by one vote thanks to a defection from then Arizona Senator John McCain.
Pro-life advocates believe that slashing federal spending for Planned Parenthood could spell doom for the organization, which has reportedly experienced financial challenges in recent months.

Hundreds of pro-life activists from across the country gathered on Capitol Hill Thursday to push lawmakers to take advantage of rare opportunity to defund abortion giant Planned Parenthood
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America said that over 300 activists from 39 states would meet with congressional offices to urge lawmakers to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood through the budget reconciliation process. The last time Republicans had a similar opportunity to gut Planned Parenthood of its funding was in 2017, when the effort failed by one vote in the Senate. 
Planned Parenthood was given around $699 million in taxpayer dollars in 2022-2023, according to its most recent annual report. The federal funding makes up about 34% of the organization’s annual revenue. The same report also revealed the organization ended the lives of nearly 400,000 unborn babies. 
SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser told The Daily Wire that the upcoming budget negotiations were the best chance for Republicans to defund Planned Parenthood in eight years. 
“This is the biggest pot of Planned Parenthood and big abortion funding that the federal government is involved in,” she told The Daily Wire. “We provide $2 million a day for this so that they can spend $70 million last election cycle trying to defeat our candidates, unsuccessfully, thank goodness. But most importantly they are using it to build the institution of Planned Parenthood.” 
In 2017, a similar effort fell short after the late Senator John McCain decided at the last minute not to back a reconciliation bill, leaving Republicans one vote short of defunding Planned Parenthood and repealing Obamacare. 
Dannenfelser said now was the “perfect storm” to defund Planned Parenthood, given Republican control of the White House and Congress and the efforts of the Department of Government Efficiency. She said that House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA)was the best speaker pro-lifers have ever worked on this issue. 
“We’ve got a good shot,” she told The Daily Wire, saying that the lobby day was to keep a focus on the defunding so that it wouldn’t be negotiated away during the reconciliation process. The money that could be defunded through reconciliation would be $500 million to Planned Parenthood through Medicaid. 
If successful, Dannenfelser said that it would be a monumental victory for the pro-life moment and could spell doom for Planned Parenthood. 
“You take that amount of money away for one or two years, and I really do think for an already hobbled organization, it could just bring them down,” she said. 
During a Thursday rally with several Republican lawmakers and pro-life activists, Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) said that Planned Parenthood was a “murder for profit organization” that should “never receive another penny of taxpayer dollars.” She added that she was making it her mission to “defund Planned Parenthood once and for all,” saying that its status as a non-profit should be revoked. 
Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) also spoke at the event, saying that Planned Parenthood was a “baby killing machine as they abort over a thousand babies every single day.” 
Republicans have promised for years to defund Planned Parenthood after undercover videos published in 2015 showed Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of aborted baby parts and organs. Yet the abortion provider has continued to receive hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars every year. 
The pro-life activists&#8217; visit to Capitol Hill comes one day after 150 national and state pro-lifer organizations sent a <a href="https://sbaprolife.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Defund-Big-Abortion-Letter.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to members of Congress urging them to take action to fully defund Planned Parenthood.

Pro-Lifers Urge GOP To Take Advantage Of Rare Chance To Defund Planned Parenthood

A man convicted over the brutal beating of two elderly pro-life sidewalk counselors outside of a Baltimore Planned Parenthood will be retried after a jury could not come to a verdict on a first-degree felony assault charge last month. 
Patrick Brice, 28, will be retried by state prosecutors over the 2023 beating of Mark Crosby and Richard Schaefer outside of Planned Parenthood that left them both bloodied. At the time of the attack, Crosby was 84 years old. Schaefer was 73. 
Brice was convicted last month on four lesser counts related to the attack but dodged the more serious first-degree assault charge due to a hung jury.
Brice was convicted on two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of reckless endangerment and was set to be sentenced on March 20 before the decision to retry the first-degree assault charge.
Baltimore State’s Attorney Ivan Bates <a href="https://www.thebaltimorebanner.com/community/criminal-justice/patrick-brice-retrial-assault-anti-abortion-protesters-planned-parenthood-baltimore-JY43YR6ZGVH53PA6U6RP2Y3LXA/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The Baltimore Banner that his office is “supporting victims and witnesses of crimes and ensuring justice is served in Baltimore.”
“While we understand the victim’s frustrations, we have made every effort to ensure they fully understand the process and have access to the necessary support,” Bates said. “As this is an open and ongoing matter, we will continue to provide this support throughout the case resolution process.”
A pre-trial conference on the case is <a href="https://www.wmar2news.com/local/prosecutors-to-retry-baltimore-man-caught-on-video-attacking-planned-parenthood-protesters" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slated</a> for Friday. A conviction on first-degree felony assault could carry a 25-year prison sentence. 
Crosby previously told The Daily Wire that he would be willing to go back to court to have the case retried, saying he was surprised that the jury did not come to a consensus. 
The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDMYSWHJuNM" target="_blank" rel="noopener">footage</a> shows Brice tackling Schaefer into a large potted plant after a heated exchange. Crosby then runs over to help Schaefer before he is forced to the ground. The video then shows Brice punching Crosby in the face and kicking him in the head.
“I call it attempted murder. If you watch the video, he actually is straddling me and he hits me double fisted,” Crosby said.
Crosby was hospitalized after the attack and treated for a fractured bone in his face, blindness in one eye, head and neck pain, two fractured fingers, and bruising on his arms and legs.
Crosby believed that one of the reasons for the attack was that he and Schaefer had been effective in convincing women to turn to a nearby crisis pregnancy center. He <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trial-begins-for-man-accused-of-brutally-beating-elderly-pro-lifers-outside-planned-parenthood" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously told</a> The Daily Wire that both men have frequently returned to the Planned Parenthood after the attack.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin vetoed a Democrat-backed bill on Tuesday that advocates say would have been used to target peaceful pro-life protesters and sidewalk counselors outside of abortion facilities. 
The bill would have sharply restricted the activities of pro-life advocates around abortion facilities, including imposing penalties for “impeding” access to an abortion provider. In his veto message, the Republican governor said that the legislation was an unconstitutional attack on free speech. 
“This legislation is an unconstitutional time, place, and manner restriction on the God-given, constitutionally protected right to the freedom of speech,” Youngkin <a href="https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20251/SB1324/text/SB1324VG" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>. “It creates new criminal penalties for what one might say or where they stand when they say it. If this bill were to become law, a citizen of the Commonwealth, the crucible of our representative democracy, could be jailed simply for carrying a sign.”
The legislation, <a href="https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20251/SB1324/text/SB1324ER" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SB 1324</a>, would create penalties for anyone “who knowingly obstructs, detains, hinders, impedes, blocks, or delays another person&#8217;s entry to or exit” from a health care facility. 
It would also block anyone from approaching “another person within eight feet of such person in the public way or sidewalk area within a radius of 40 feet from any entrance door to a health care facility, unless such other person consents to the approach, for the purpose of giving, tendering, or exhibiting any material to, displaying a sign to, or engaging in oral protest, education, or counseling with such other person.”
That provision would have restricted the work of pro-life sidewalk counselors who gather outside abortion facilities to urge women not to end the life of their unborn child and frequently offer help with their pregnancies. 
The Democrat-backed legislation <a href="https://legiscan.com/VA/votes/SB1324/2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed</a> the House of Delegates 51-45 and Senate 21-19 in party-line votes. 
Pro-life advocates said that SB 1324 was meant to chill their speech.
“This bill is part of a concerted effort to stifle efforts to provide oversight of abortion providers and prevent individuals and groups from counseling women away from abortion,” Victoria Cobb of the Virginia-based Family Foundation <a href="https://www.lifenews.com/2025/01/29/trump-pardoned-pro-life-americans-now-virginia-democrats-want-to-lock-them-up/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a> as the measure worked its way through the legislature. “SB 1324 represents a clear attack on the ability to peacefully voice opposition to abortion, criminalizing the very act of offering alternatives and support to women visiting these facilities.”
The law would have been similar to the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which makes it a federal offense to sit or stand in front of the entrances to abortion facilities. During the Biden administration, FACE was used to lock up peaceful pro-life protesters. 
President Donald Trump has taken a drastically different approach, pardoning the pro-lifers targeted by Biden, and directing his Justice Department to only prosecute FACE cases in instances of extreme violence. 
Youngkin on Tuesday also vetoed a number of other Democrat backed-bills, including legislation on gun control, pushing so-called green energy, and expanding recreational marijuana.

WASHINGTON — Mehmet Oz, President Donald Trump&#8217;s nominee to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, told The Daily Wire on Tuesday evening that he is opposed to all transgender procedures on minors.
&#8220;Dr. Oz fully understands the harms caused to minors by such procedures and is committed to implementing President Donald J. Trump&#8217;s agenda of protecting children so they can grow to live out their God-given potential,&#8221; an Oz spokesman told The Daily Wire on Tuesday evening.
The statement, which comes shortly after Oz advanced out of the Senate Finance Committee by a 14-13 vote, may clear up some apprehensions about where the nominee stands on hot-button transgender issues, which <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-exposed-kamalas-radical-stances-on-gender-americans-voted-against-it">drove many voters to the polls</a> this fall. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) had voiced concerns about Oz&#8217;s record on both transgender issues and abortion, pointing out that in the past, Oz had &#8220;praised trans surgeries for minors and supported hormone treatments &amp; puberty blockers for kids in the past,&#8221; as well as &#8220;criticized state laws protecting life.&#8221;
&#8220;I hope he’s changed his views to match President Trump!&#8221; Hawley tweeted this week. &#8220;We need the Trump agenda at CMS.&#8221;
A member of Oz&#8217;s team told The Daily Wire on Tuesday night that Oz had requested a meeting with Hawley, but the Missouri senator declined. A source close to the Missouri Republican countered that Hawley did not decline the meeting, but was rather following standard Senate procedure in waiting to schedule his meeting with Oz until he received answers to the questions he sent over in his petition, which Oz has not provided.
On Tuesday evening, after hearing that Oz had promised to implement the president&#8217;s agenda on protecting children from irreversible transgender procedures, a spokesman for the senator told The Daily Wire of Oz: “We look forward to hearing from him.”

The Daily Wire previously reported that Oz had drawn fire for his past stances on abortion when he campaigned for a Pennsylvania senate seat in 2022. Notably, Oz had defended Roe v. Wade in 2019 as a measure that prevents coat hanger abortions, saying he did not “want to interfere” with a woman’s ability to abort her baby, accusing pro-lifers of “picking fights,” and suggesting that pro-life laws would make businesses leave red states.
Oz clarified where he stood in a 2022 op-ed where he promised: “I will be a bold voice in the Senate and a proud champion for the pro-life movement. I won’t ever shy away from sharing my pro-life beliefs, even as pro-abortion advocates in medicine, the media, and Big Tech try to silence me.”
Hawley is a staunch defender of both children targeted by transgender ideology and unborn babies whose lives are lost through abortion, and has positioned himself as a sort of safeguard over the past few months since Trump&#8217;s inauguration.
In January, he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/president-trump-to-pardon-imprisoned-pro-life-activists-within-days">urged the president</a> to release the pro-life prisoners imprisoned by President Joe Biden&#8217;s Justice Department (which Trump did), <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-tale-of-two-phone-calls-how-josh-hawley-fought-for-victims-of-bidens-doj">intervened</a> as Texas Children’s whistleblower Eithan Haim faced DOJ punishment (the case against him was dropped), and most recently lobbied against the Food and Drug Administration’s newly selected chief counsel Hillary Perkins by airing scrutiny of her record on abortion and vaccines (she resigned the following day, and <a href="https://www.wsj.com/opinion/josh-hawley-smears-a-pro-life-lawyer-food-and-drug-administration-confirmation-vote-fb95c8e9?st=zgWXUA&amp;reflink=article_imessage_share">accuses</a> Hawley of smearing her).

A source close to Hawley <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/heres-how-the-fdas-chief-counsel-went-from-hired-to-fired-in-two-days">told The Daily Wire earlier this month</a> that the senator&#8217;s vociferous opposition to Perkins at the FDA stemmed from his concerns that the Biden administration’s abortion drug rules completely undermine the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, and that the senator is worried about the Trump administration waffling on handling the matter of abortion drugs.
Oz&#8217;s nomination next heads to a full senate vote.
