The Trump administration on Tuesday ended another Biden-era abortion mandate, specifically rescinding the most recent interpretation of what&#8217;s known as the &#8220;Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act,&#8221; or EMTALA.
Under Biden, EMTALA guidance forced hospitals and pro-life health care workers to provide abortions if it&#8217;s deemed necessary stabilizing treatment. Critics decried the guidance as unlawful and a rejection of conscience protections.
&#8220;The Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (&#8216;CMS&#8217;) are rescinding July 2022 guidance from CMS with the subject &#8216;Reinforcement of EMTALA Obligations specific to Patients who are Pregnant or are Experiencing Pregnancy Loss,&#8221; a press release from CMS said, adding that such guidance no longer reflects the policy of this administration.
&#8220;CMS will continue to enforce EMTALA, which protects all individuals who present to a hospital emergency department seeking examination or treatment, including for identified emergency medical conditions that place the health of a pregnant woman or her unborn child in serious jeopardy,&#8221; the statement added. &#8220;CMS will work to rectify any perceived legal confusion and instability created by the former administration’s actions.&#8221;
Pro-lifers were quick to celebrate the move from HHS. <a href="https://www.heritage.org/staff/roger-severino" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Roger Severino</a> of The Heritage Foundation, for example, posted, &#8220;President Trump promised to dismantle the abortion radicalism left by his predecessor and today another abortion mandate bites the dust.&#8221;

&#8220;To add insult to injury, the Biden order refused to acknowledge that the law protected mothers, or even women. Instead calling them &#8216;pregnant patients,'&#8221; Severino noted. &#8220;A stain on America&#8217;s conscience is now gone, and good riddance.&#8221;

Days after taking office in his second term, Trump signed two orders to further prevent taxpayers from funding abortion, as previously highlighted by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-restores-mexico-city-policy-ends-taxpayer-funding-for-abortion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a>.
One of the measures, referred to as the Mexico City policy, prevents taxpayer funds from being sent to foreign non-governmental organizations that perform or promote abortions. The other, an executive order, strengthens the Hyde Amendment, which is a ban on the use of federal funds for abortion.

FDA Commissioner Marty Makary has committed to reviewing the abortion pill&#8217;s safety, according to Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO).
Hawley posted a letter he received from Makary on social media, noting the FDA head promised to review the safety of mifepristone, the popular abortion drug.
&#8220;As the Commissioner of Food and Drugs, I am committed to conducting a review of mifepristone and working with the professional career scientists at the Agency who review this data,&#8221; Makary wrote in his letter to Hawley.

Makary also noted that mifepristone is currently enmeshed in legal battles.

The two-pill chemical abortion regimen — mifepristone, usually followed by misoprostol — aims to end the life of the unborn baby and expel it from the woman’s uterus. However, the drugs sometimes fail to expel all the fetal tissue, which can cause life-threatening complications.
An <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abortion-pill-22-times-more-dangerous-than-fda-claimed-new-study-says?author=Mairead+Elordi&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=7&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Abortion+Pill+22+Times+More+Dangerous+Than+FDA+Claimed%2C+New+Study+Says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">analysis</a> released in April found that more than one in 10 women experienced a “serious adverse event” after taking the mifepristone abortion pill in 2023. This can include hemorrhaging, needing a blood transfusion, an emergency room visit, and even deadly conditions like sepsis.
That is about 22 times higher than what the FDA listed on its label for the brand Mifeprex in 2023. The FDA <a href="https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2023/020687Orig1s025Lbl.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cited</a> clinical studies saying less than 0.5% of women suffered “serious adverse reactions” to mifepristone.
Meanwhile, more than one in 20 women need a second abortion attempt after the abortion pill fails, another analysis of insurance claim data <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/more-than-1-in-20-women-need-second-abortion-attempt-after-abortion-pill-fails?author=Mairead+Elordi&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=More+Than+1+in+20+Women+Need+Second+Abortion+Attempt+After+Abortion+Pill+Fails" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> this week showed.
Last month, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., head of the Department of Health and Human Services, told lawmakers he had requested the FDA do a “complete review” of the abortion pill in the wake of the new data.
“It’s alarming,” RFK Jr. told Hawley during a Senate committee hearing.
“Clearly, it indicates that at the very least the label should be changed,” he said. “I’ve asked Marty Makary, who’s the director of the FDA, to do a complete review and to report back.”
A few months before Roe v. Wade was overturned, the FDA scrapped the requirement that women must obtain abortion pills in person from a healthcare provider, allowing them to get them online through the mail.

&#8220;It looks like a baby. It was on the ground moving.&#8221;
That is what an 18-year-old girl told a pregnancy center employee after taking an abortion pill she ordered online from overseas.
It is just one of the shocking incidents workers in PreBorn&#8217;s pro-life pregnancy center network have experienced as they scramble to help desperate women who show up seeking help after taking the abortion pill.
PreBorn founder Dan Steiner spoke to The Daily Wire about his group&#8217;s harrowing work. He said women often show up at his clinics &#8220;severely traumatized&#8221; after days of severe bleeding.
&#8220;I&#8217;m talking about their mattress being soaked with blood, and that&#8217;s very dangerous,&#8221; Steiner said. &#8220;That trauma is bringing them into our clinics, and it&#8217;s twofold. One is the bleeding, but even more traumatic is that they are delivering the baby on the floor, in their bathroom toilet.&#8221;
&#8220;They&#8217;re bringing this into our clinics, like wrapped in washcloths, you know, these little babies,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s traumatizing our clinic workers as well.&#8221;
Sometimes, the pregnancy center has an arrangement with a local cemetery to dispose of babies&#8217; bodies in a dignified way. But &#8220;that&#8217;s not the case with a lot of our clinics,&#8221; Steiner said.
Afterward, he noted, women &#8220;have to go back to the scene of the crime, their own bathroom, every day for the rest of their lives.&#8221;
&#8220;This is just a nightmare on steroids,&#8221; Steiner said. &#8220;It definitely kills their baby, but it also kills their hearts.&#8221;
On top of this, women often end up with severe complications after taking mifepristone, the popular abortion drug.

According to Steiner, the typical woman who comes to PreBorn for help is between 19 and 24, has multiple sexual partners, and likely does not know how far along she is in her pregnancy. That makes taking the abortion pill more dangerous, since it is only designed to be effective in early pregnancy.
Many women also change their minds after taking mifepristone, and frantically search online for how to reverse the drug&#8217;s effects and save their pregnancy.
Heartbeat International is a pro-life organization that reaches those women through its Abortion Pill Rescue Network, which has helped more than 6,000 women reverse their abortions with progesterone.
Jor-El Godsey, president of Heartbeat International, said that for most of the women who reach out to them, the experience of abortion was &#8220;not as promised.&#8221;
&#8220;It&#8217;s not &#8216;just a pill&#8217; and it&#8217;s not &#8216;safer than Tylenol,'&#8221; he told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Once they begin to have significant symptoms, they sometimes call with deep regret and we must get them to care immediately.
Godsey recalled one mother, Sara, who took the abortion pill for her fourth baby because her boyfriend threatened to leave her if she did not.
&#8220;She realized her mistake and said it felt like a darkness had come over her,&#8221; Godsey said.
In desperation, the woman called the Abortion Pill Rescue Network&#8217;s hotline, and the nurse who answered connected her with a clinic that gave her progesterone.
The boyfriend kept his promise and left Sara and the children. But the baby, Isaiah, is now six, in kindergarten, plays soccer, and has a large extended family who &#8220;adore him,&#8221; Godsey said.
But not every story has a happy ending.
One woman took the abortion pill while carrying twins and delivered a &#8220;perfectly formed, deceased, tiny baby boy,&#8221; Godsey said. She called the Abortion Pill Rescue Network to stop the abortion and save her second baby, but it was too late — she quickly delivered a second deceased baby.
&#8220;That evening alone in her backyard she buried her tiny babies,&#8221; Godsey said. &#8220;I often think of her when I hear the lie that abortion empowers women. Instead, it often brings them to their lowest point.&#8221;
Medication abortions are far more common than surgical abortions. Medication abortions made up 63% of all abortions in 2023, up from 31% in 2014, <a href="https://www.guttmacher.org/2024/03/medication-abortion-accounted-63-all-us-abortions-2023-increase-53-2020" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute.
The abortion pill is likely the main factor driving up the country’s total number of abortions in recent years, even in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Abortion advocates have argued that the abortion pill should be more available to order online now that some Republican-led states ban abortion.
A few months before Roe was overturned, the FDA scrapped the requirement that women must obtain abortion pills in-person from a health provider, allowing them to obtain them online through the mail.
Steiner said the FDA engaged in &#8220;ideological, intentional ignorance&#8221; on the dangers of mifepristone.
&#8220;They&#8217;ve known it all along. They would have to know it all along,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If it was Xanax and women were hospitalized because of taking Xanax, pull it!&#8221;
Steiner said that short of pulling mifepristone from the market, he would like to see it slapped with a black box warning, the FDA&#8217;s most serious warning. He would also like to see the Trump administration enforce the Comstock Act, an 1873 law that criminalized mailing abortion material.
Mifepristone was approved by the FDA in 2000.
Godsey slammed the FDA as well, saying the agency has relied on &#8220;highly controlled clinical trials performed by the abortion industry.&#8221;
&#8220;No one even knows how many abortions are happening or how many women are being harmed,&#8221; he said. &#8220;This isn&#8217;t healthcare, and women deserve better.&#8221;

A group of abortionists suing to overturn a Kansas pro-life law were recently compelled to unseal hidden court records. The documents, released to the public earlier this month, include one of the plaintiff&#8217;s descriptions of her own harrowing abortion.
Dr. Traci Lynn Nauser recalled in a deposition how she came to be pregnant with quadruplets, attempted to abort two of the babies, and wound up killing all four.
&#8220;I felt like I was being punished by God — and I&#8217;m not even a religious person — for doing abortions,&#8221; Nauser said. &#8220;But I know it was the right thing.&#8221;
&#8220;I chose to have labor induction,&#8221; Nauser said. &#8220;Medically, to me, they&#8217;re fetuses. To me, as Traci Nauser, as the person that was pregnant, they were babies. They had names. Jordan was a girl. Drew was the boy. Jordan delivered, had a heartbeat, and I held her till she died in my arms. Drew, thank God, did not when he was born. So I didn&#8217;t have to have that trauma twice.&#8221;
&#8220;I have since grieved, been able to move on, never forgotten. Every Christmas I put up specific ornaments for them,&#8221; she said.
Nauser, who works at the Center for Women’s Health near Kansas City, is one of several abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, <a href="https://adflegal.org/press-release/kansas-law-informs-women-protects-babies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suing</a> Kansas over state rules designed to make sure a woman is informed before she has an abortion. In April, the Kansas City Star intervened in the abortionists’ lawsuit, demanding they reveal hidden court records, including Nauser&#8217;s deposition. The abortion providers had filed certain court records as “confidential” or “attorneys’ eyes only.”
Kansas mandates that doctors meet with a woman 24 hours before her abortion, tell her the abortion pill is reversible, listen to the baby’s heartbeat 30 minutes before performing an abortion, post information about the risks of abortion in the abortion clinic, among other steps.
During her deposition, Nauser explained she struggled with infertility while trying to conceive with her husband, and how she turned to medications that stimulated her ovaries to release multiple eggs. At one point, her ovaries released four eggs.
&#8220;I said, we all know the chances of multiples is really low even in this situation. I just want to be pregnant. Let&#8217;s go for it. Oh, I got pregnant with quads,&#8221; she said.
&#8220;So now I&#8217;m pregnant with quads,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;And I know, as a doctor, the risks of a quadruple pregnancy and the successful outcome rates of that are extremely low. So I had to make the decision — or I made the decision with my husband to reduce it down to twins, which would be a much more successful likelihood pregnancy.&#8221;
Nauser said she had to fly to Detroit for the &#8220;reduction&#8221; procedure.
Everything went well after two of the quadruplets were aborted, until the day of her 20-week ultrasound when she felt &#8220;massive pressure&#8221; in her vagina. Nauser was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and brought to the operating room for a procedure to try to save her remaining two babies.
&#8220;I knew I was screwed before I even went to the OR because I saw my own ultrasound — my water broke,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I wake up in recovery. I remember saying something to the effect of, did they save them? And the answer&#8217;s, no.&#8221;
The risk of a dangerous infection to both mother and baby is extremely high when a pregnant woman&#8217;s water breaks too early.
Nauser went on to do in vitro fertilization and have two kids.
&#8220;I wouldn&#8217;t have them had I not been through everything that I&#8217;ve been through,&#8221; she said.
Nauser added that she explained abortion to her kids when they were 8 and 9 years old because she worried their classmates might say something after she <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna43609782" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared</a> on The Rachel Maddow Show to discuss abortion in 2011.
&#8220;They were studying government at that age, and one said, I&#8217;m so confused, why are women talking to [Kansas] Governor [Sam] Brownback about their medical situations and not their doctors?&#8221; Nauser said. &#8220;If a freaking eight- and nine-year-old can figure this stuff out, so should adults.&#8221;
Nauser&#8217;s father is also an abortionist, and the pair <a href="https://www.hodesnauser.com/about-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">practiced</a> together at her father&#8217;s clinic until he retired. Despite the feelings she describes in her deposition, she seems to view her quadruple abortion as a net positive.
&#8220;I am a better doctor, I think, because of all of this. I get it,&#8221; she said.

The leak of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision, and the historic ruling that followed, weren’t just legal landmarks — they were cultural earthquakes.
For millions of Americans, those days are seared into memory, standing alongside the moon landing or the collapse of the Berlin Wall. But Dobbs wasn’t the end of the fight for life — it was the beginning.
For the first time in half a century, Americans could protect the lives of babies in the womb through their state and federal representatives. Red states were ready to run with the ball. Several had trigger laws — laws designed to take effect to protect babies at conception the moment Roe fell — that went into effect when the decision came down. Others, like South Carolina and Florida, moved quickly to pass legislation safeguarding life.
Those bold moves were met with electoral reward: Gov. Ron DeSantis won re-election in a Florida <a href="https://ballotpedia.org/Ron_DeSantis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">landslide</a>, as did Governors<a href="https://ballotpedia.org/Kim_Reynolds" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Kim Reynolds</a>,<a href="https://ballotpedia.org/Ohio_gubernatorial_and_lieutenant_gubernatorial_election,_2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Mike DeWine</a>, and<a href="https://ballotpedia.org/Georgia_gubernatorial_election,_2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Brian Kemp</a> in Iowa, Ohio, and Georgia, respectively. We very quickly reached the point where half of the states had <a href="https://sbaprolife.org/lifesavinglaws" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pro-life laws</a>.
Now, the pro-life movement has turned to its next major historic battle: defunding Planned Parenthood and dismantling the forced taxpayer funding of the abortion-industrial complex.
For decades, taxpayers have been forced to fund abortion businesses, with the lion’s share of funding coming from Medicaid. With Planned Parenthood responsible for more than <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/fact-sheet-planned-parenthoods-2022-23-annual-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">400,000</a> abortions annually, Americans have been forced to subsidize the leading cause of death for far too long.
But there’s a plan to end this. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which recently passed the House of Representatives, pulls the plug on Medicaid funding for abortion businesses.
It could have a seismic impact.
After President Donald Trump froze<a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/trump-administration-freeze-family-planning-funds-planned-parenthood-2025-04-01/#:~:text=Planned%20Parenthood%20Health%20Systems%2C%20Inc,halted%20by%20the%20Trump%20administration." target="_blank" rel="noopener"> $27.5 million</a> in Title X dollars to Planned Parenthood, <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/04/22/clinics-begin-closing-as-trump-admin-continues-freeze-on-family-planning-funds-00302504" target="_blank" rel="noopener">POLITICO</a> reported that several Planned Parenthood affiliates were closing or struggling to stay afloat.
<a href="https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/262849/planned-parenthood-shutters-only-facility-in-manhattan-after-decades-of-pro-life-prayers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Manhattan’s</a> only Planned Parenthood closed. Four<a href="https://michiganadvance.com/2025/04/03/planned-parenthood-shutting-down-4-michigan-clinics-after-trump-administration-cuts-funding/#:~:text=Planned%20Parenthood%20shutting%20down,said%20in%20a%20news%20release.%20%E2%80%9C" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Michigan</a> facilities are shutting down. Two<a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/04/22/clinics-begin-closing-as-trump-admin-continues-freeze-on-family-planning-funds-00302504" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Utah</a> Planned Parenthoods closed at the end of last month. Four Planned Parenthood facilities in <a href="https://www.iowapublicradio.org/health/2025-05-24/planned-parenthood-to-close-four-clinics-in-iowa" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Iowa</a> and four more in<a href="https://www.startribune.com/why-planned-parenthood-is-closing-four-minnesota-clinics-and-laying-off-staff/601362453" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Minnesota</a> are closing.
If that’s the impact of $27.5 million, we don’t have to guess what taking away <a href="https://www.gao.gov/assets/870/866408.pdf#page=12" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$529 million</a> in Medicaid funding annually will do. Planned Parenthood says this would mean<a href="https://x.com/KristanHawkins/status/1925627793745821741" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> 200</a> of their facilities would close.
With Republicans on Capitol Hill energized to stop the forced taxpayer funding of abortion businesses and around <a href="https://www.kofc.org/en/news-room/archive.html?section=polls" target="_blank" rel="noopener">60%</a> of Americans against publicly funding abortion, Planned Parenthood is growing desperate. They took out a New York Times <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2025/05/21/planned-parenthood-celebrity-ad/83766968007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ad</a>, which likely cost tens of thousands of dollars, that featured Harry Styles, Megan Thee Stallion, Doug Emhoff’s daughter, Jussie Smollett’s sister, and other celebrities calling for the forced taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.
This is just one example of how Planned Parenthood funnels resources into political activism, money that could instead be used to improve basic health standards at their facilities.
Planned Parenthood’s spending priorities have horrific results: a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/15/us/planned-parenthood-clinics.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stillbirth</a> after an IUD was placed when a woman was pregnant,<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/15/us/planned-parenthood-clinics.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> biohazards</a> and raw sewage left to fester in a Nebraska facility for days, and botched <a href="https://flatwaterfreepress.org/dysfunction-turnover-at-omaha-planned-parenthood-clinic-further-limiting-abortion-access-in-nebraska/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HIV and syphilis tests</a>, to name a few. Most tragically, an 18-year-old girl in Colorado <a href="https://sbaprolife.org/latest-news/young-woman-dies-after-late-term-abortion-at-planned-parenthood" target="_blank" rel="noopener">died</a> after a late-term abortion at a Planned Parenthood facility earlier this year.
Women on Medicaid will be much better served by community health centers, which already outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/realchoices/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">15:1</a>. These centers provide much more comprehensive and higher quality care than entities that exist to sell abortions.
We are optimistic this will be the year we defund Planned Parenthood — which would help pro-life Republican candidates win elections in 2026 and 2028. But Democrats, the legacy media, Hollywood, liberal universities, and other woke institutions are doing everything within their power to prevent the greatest human rights victory of our time.
Ballot measures have wiped away pro-life laws in Ohio, Arizona, and Missouri, where Republican leaders failed to fully engage in the battle. Activist courts have stopped states from protecting babies in the womb. Shield laws — designed to give blue state abortionists immunity when they ship abortion drugs into pro-life states — and similar workarounds from the Biden administration allow blue state abortionists to bypass pro-life laws, kill unborn children, and harm women across state lines by mailing abortion drugs.
All of this means that the total number of abortions performed in the United States has increased since the Dobbs decision. While there is no definitive way to calculate the total number of abortions performed each year, a new Charlotte Lozier Institute<a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/new-report-confirms-abortions-continue-to-rise-after-dobbs/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> study</a> reveals a startling reality.
The study compiles existing data from pro-abortion entities like the Guttmacher Institute and #WeCount, and shows the total number of abortions is at least 1.1 million annually.
This is not the time to retreat. This is the time to go on offense. Human rights battles are never won overnight. Slavery wasn’t abolished in just a few years, nor was segregation.
The fall of Roe was the start of the most significant human rights movement of our time. Bringing this movement to a successful conclusion will take persistence, unity, and courage.
Now is the time for the pro-life movement to reignite, take the historic step of defunding Planned Parenthood, and to elect leaders who don’t flinch when the stakes are high. We stand on the shoulders of decades of sacrifice and prayer, and, by the grace of God, we believe this could be the year we take the next big step.
Because the fight for life isn’t over.
It’s just getting started.

Former first lady Michelle Obama said that a woman’s unique ability to grow a human life inside her body is “the least of” what the reproductive system is for.
Obama, a prominent Democrat and supporter of abortion, discussed her thoughts during an <a href="https://open.spotify.com/episode/0SvVgcSCgmhJysFFOPU5hR">episode</a> of her “IMO with Michelle Obama &amp; Craig Robinson” podcast on Wednesday.
The “Becoming” author said that the &#8220;frustrating thing&#8221; is that the issue &#8220;has been reduced to a question of choice, as if that&#8217;s all of what women&#8217;s health is.&#8221;
&#8220;I attempted to make the argument on the campaign trail this past election that there&#8217;s just so much more at stake because so many men have no idea what women go through,&#8221; Obama said. &#8220;We haven&#8217;t been researched, we haven&#8217;t been considered, and it still affects the way a lot of men lawmakers, a lot of male politicians, a lot of male religious leaders think about the issue of choice, as if it&#8217;s just about the fetus, the baby.&#8221;

&#8220;Women&#8217;s reproductive health is about our life,” Obama added. “It&#8217;s about this whole complicated reproductive system that the least of what it does is produce life.”
She continued, “It&#8217;s a very important thing that it does, but you only produce life if the machine that&#8217;s producing it—if you want to whittle us down to a machine—if the machine is functioning in a healthy, streamlined kind of way. But there is no discussion or apparent connection between the two.&#8221;
The former first lady’s friend, OB/GYN Dr. Sharon Malone, was a guest on the episode. She agreed with Obama’s thoughts, saying, &#8220;one of the things that is disturbing&#8221; is that the &#8220;government has gotten involved in decisions that are personal and healthcare decisions.”
“It&#8217;s not just about whether someone chooses to have a pregnancy or not, but this is a situation where a woman should have control over her body—when and if to have a baby, and to decide how that pregnancy should continue,&#8221; she said.
At another point in the episode, Dr. Malone also mentioned a link between “older sperm” and “more autism.”
“They&#8217;ll never let that secret out. That may be the key behind all the defunding everything,&#8221; Michelle Obama replied. &#8220;Then old men can keep marrying 20-year-olds. It&#8217;s like, &#8216;I&#8217;ll give you the baby you want.'&#8221;

It was just a few days ago that we discussed the extreme level of disdain that Democrats were displaying, seemingly out of nowhere, toward a small number of white refugees who were arriving in the United States. All at once, the same people with the yard signs that proclaim &#8220;no one is illegal&#8221; and &#8220;love is love&#8221; were suddenly overcome with bloodlust, all because a handful of Afrikaners landed at Dulles airport. In the history of &#8220;mask-off moments&#8221; in this country, this one ranks pretty high on the list. It&#8217;s a bit like when the Manson Family single-handedly destroyed the reputation of the hippie movement. Once you start talking about murdering people &#8212; or actually murdering people &#8212; you can&#8217;t really recover from it. No one&#8217;s going to buy your &#8220;peace and love&#8221; schtick ever again. They&#8217;re going to see you for exactly what you are.
In the case of the Afrikaners, what underlies the race hatred on the Left is their transparent desire to see all of Western civilization crumble. Everyone understands that now. They want to import Somali fraudsters and Central American gangsters while turning away white farmers precisely because they know that the white farmers will improve this country, while the criminals will destroy it. There has never been another point in American history where the political divide has been so stark: One side wants the United States to prosper, while the other wants the entire continent to devolve into a dysfunctional wasteland. They want to bring ruin to one of the few remaining functional countries on the planet. What this means is that, in essence, Democrats have adopted nihilism. They do not believe human life has any inherent worth or purpose. They reject truth and objectivity in all contexts. They are anti-human, and they&#8217;re no longer being very subtle about it.
For years, it&#8217;s been evident that nihilists and pro-human conservatives have been on a collision course. After all, these are not remotely compatible ideologies. They are not capable of co-existing in one place for any significant length of time. Humanity, simply by existing, enrages anti-human nihilists. And these nihilists are realizing that, despite their best efforts, there&#8217;s only so much destruction you can achieve by importing the third world and murdering children in the womb. Therefore, it was only a matter of time until one of these nihilists decided to take matters into his own hands and commit an act of terrorism. And on Saturday morning, that&#8217;s exactly what happened.

Just before noon, less than an hour from downtown Palm Springs, California, a 25-year-old man detonated a vehicle-borne explosive device in the car park outside a fertility clinic called &#8220;American Reproductive Centers.&#8221; According to the authorities, the result was &#8220;the largest bombing scene that we&#8217;ve had in Southern California.&#8221; Several people were injured. Offices were damaged, although the lab at the fertility clinic, which houses eggs and embryos, was not affected. One man was thrown from his bike, and the impact was felt two miles away. Watch:

You can listen to that whole news report, and you won&#8217;t find any explanation of the suspect&#8217;s motives. And you know why that is: It&#8217;s highly inconvenient for these people to tell the truth about Left-wing terrorism, because they&#8217;re still trying to convince everyone that white supremacy is the greatest threat facing the country. So here&#8217;s the truth: The bomber left behind extensive writings and audio recordings on the internet, meticulously explaining that he committed this act of terrorism as part of a &#8220;war against pro-lifers.&#8221; Those are his words. He says that &#8220;the bible is slander against Satan,&#8221; that God is a &#8220;creep,&#8221; and that &#8220;Your God definitely doesn&#8217;t exist, but if he did, I&#8217;d choose satan over your evil God.&#8221; The bomber also states that he wants to begin the process of &#8220;sterilizing this planet of the disease of life.&#8221; There&#8217;s also reportedly some rage against Elon Musk, who famously opposes the depopulation of the planet.
A day before the attack, according to researcher Erin Cruz, the bomber openly <a href="https://x.com/ghostmthr/status/1924158158471098647" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> his plans on a message board devoted to &#8220;sanctioned suicide,&#8221; right down to the precise bomb-making techniques he planned to use, and how he planned to be high on opiates at the time of the explosion. But apparently no one reported this post, even though several people &#8220;liked&#8221; it and responded. If this reporting is accurate, and it appears to be, then it&#8217;s obviously yet another indictment of our intelligence services. It&#8217;s also a sign of how pervasive this anti-human death cult is. There are entire communities devoted to ending the human race. And even when they&#8217;re talking about acts of terrorism, no one&#8217;s paying any attention to them.
But we should be paying attention, because what happened on Saturday was not an aberration. Nihilism is the guiding ethos of the elites, which is why every day, they&#8217;re promoting it in one context or another. Maybe the most striking <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/controversy-rages-as-brain-dead-woman-kept-alive-to-save-unborn-child?author=Amanda+Prestigiacomo&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=Controversy+Rages+As+Brain-Dead+Woman+Kept+Alive+To+Save+Unborn+Child" target="_blank" rel="noopener">case</a> involves the Left&#8217;s current effort to secure the murder of a 21-week-old child in the state of Georgia. Here&#8217;s the background. In February, a 30-year-old woman named Adriana Smith was nine weeks pregnant when she began suffering from severe headaches. She went to the hospital, which gave her medications and sent her home. The next day, according to her boyfriend, she began gasping for air and making gurgling noises. A CT scan showed that she had multiple blood clots in her brain. As of now, she&#8217;s 21 weeks pregnant and brain-dead. She&#8217;s been kept alive on a ventilator for months so that she can give birth. In other words, the doctors are doing everything they can to preserve the life of the unborn child.
This is an outcome that, unless you&#8217;re a demon who despises humanity, you would obviously support. The alternative is to kill the child solely because his mother is brain-dead. But that alternative outcome is precisely what the corporate press is pushing for. In fact, it also appears to be what the woman&#8217;s family is pushing for. The woman&#8217;s mother, April Newkirk, just gave an interview with NBC News, where she suggested that they might want to kill the child because of the possibility that it will be difficult to raise him. You can tell what&#8217;s going on here. She understands that, if she comes out and tells doctors to murder her own grandchild, everyone will immediately recognize what a cartoonishly evil goblin that she is. So instead, she suggests that she just wants the &#8220;choice&#8221; to decide whether to kill her grandchild, without saying definitively whether she&#8217;d follow through with it. (Never mind the fact that, obviously, the only reason she&#8217;d want the &#8220;choice&#8221; is so that she can exercise that choice).
And that&#8217;s evident by the end of the interview, where she states that she&#8217;s &#8220;in her 50s,&#8221; and therefore she&#8217;s incapable of taking care of a child. That&#8217;s literally one of the excuses she uses to murder her own grandchild. &#8220;Oh, I&#8217;m in my 50s and so is my husband; how could I possibly help raise this child? Better kill him instead.&#8221; Just pause to consider the implications of that statement for a second. And then realize that a major television network aired it, sympathetically, as if there&#8217;s nothing deranged and demonic about it. She&#8217;s looking at one tragedy &#8212; the death of her daughter &#8212; and then openly fantasizing about killing another member of her family. There are women in their 90s who would leap at the opportunity to help raise their grandchild, especially if it meant saving his life. But this woman&#8217;s just too old for that, apparently. Of course, if she were in her 20s or 30s, we&#8217;d be hearing about how the grandchild is just too inconvenient for her career or whatever. These people will rationalize murder in one way or another. That&#8217;s a given.
Now, to be as fair as possible to this force of personified evil that walks among us, she does offer another excuse, besides being &#8220;in her 50s.&#8221; She also says that it&#8217;s possible her grandchild might be &#8220;blind, and may not be able to walk.&#8221; Therefore, we&#8217;re supposed to sympathize with her decision to kill the child. Again, in a functioning, moral society, this woman would be in prison for plotting to kill her disabled grandchild. At the very least, she&#8217;d be receiving a psych evaluation as we speak. Instead, she&#8217;s being encouraged to say all of this. The corporate press and the Left are completely behind her. And of course that&#8217;s *why* she&#8217;s doing it. She&#8217;s flippantly justifying the murder of her own grandchild because, for her whole life, she&#8217;s been told that it&#8217;s her right to commit murder. And she lacks the moral character and intelligence to come to any other conclusion.
For Democrats and the media, the angle is pretty clear. They&#8217;re suggesting that Georgia&#8217;s &#8220;heartbeat law,&#8221; which bans abortions after roughly six weeks in most cases, has resulted in a dystopian scenario where women are being chained to beds and forced to give birth. They&#8217;re not talking about the life of the child at all. They&#8217;re not even discussing the extraordinary circumstances involved in this particular case. Instead, they&#8217;re pretending that women are going to be lined up, enslaved and turned into baby-making machines, at scale. Here&#8217;s one representative social media <a href="https://x.com/DarthandDogs/status/1923383548880331217" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> — it has more than five million views and hundreds of thousands of &#8220;likes&#8221;:
&#8220;Remember the episode in the Handmaid&#8217;s Tale, where a brain dead, black handmaid is kept on life support long enough to give birth? This is happening in Atlanta, GA right now. Her name is Adriana Smith. She was only 9wks when the state kidnapped her body from her family.&#8221;
Yes, the state &#8220;kidnapped her body from her family,&#8221; according to this post. Of course, they omit any explanation of what actually happened. They don&#8217;t explain that the alternative is to murder the child, either. Instead, we just get a pop culture reference. And this really gets at a larger problem, which is that a large proportion of the population is only capable of engaging in any kind of moral reasoning by using analogies to recent works of fiction.
This is how most Democrats are taught to think. And of course, they dutifully obey. But it&#8217;s not how the leaders of the Democrat Party think. They&#8217;re far more intelligent, and far more evil. And if you listen to them long enough, they&#8217;ll explain exactly what they have in mind for the future of this country. They won&#8217;t simply embrace the so-called &#8220;great replacement&#8221; theory. They&#8217;ll go into great detail, explaining why it&#8217;s bad for Americans to have nuclear families and to believe in Christ. They&#8217;ll also elaborate on why it&#8217;s better for foreigners to come into this country and have large families to replace all of the natives. Here&#8217;s Hillary Clinton to explain:

We&#8217;ve been having a lot of &#8220;mask off&#8221; moments lately on the Left. This is one of the more revealing ones. Notice what she&#8217;s *not* saying. She&#8217;s not explaining what&#8217;s wrong with Christianity. She&#8217;s also not explaining why it&#8217;s wrong to advocate for stable, two-parent households. Twenty years ago, this would&#8217;ve been an issue that 100% of Americans would agree on. Every single person would&#8217;ve told you that intact, two-parent households are a good thing. But now we have one of the most prominent Democrats in the world stating, as if it&#8217;s obvious to everyone, that it&#8217;s bad to advocate for Christian nuclear families.
And then she immediately reveals exactly what she doesn&#8217;t like about the nuclear family. She wants illegal aliens, whom she calls &#8220;undocumented,&#8221; to &#8220;replenish&#8221; the American population. She wants this country to lose its national identity as quickly as possible. And the nuclear family stands in the way of that. Of course, even if Hillary Clinton really believed that foreign nationals are a net benefit to the American economy &#8212; which they aren&#8217;t &#8212; there&#8217;s still no reason whatsoever for her to advocate *against* stable American families. That part of her argument is completely unexplained. You&#8217;d think she&#8217;d support foreign migration in addition to American families. But she doesn&#8217;t. She only supports the illegal aliens because she knows that, eventually, they will completely replace this country&#8217;s population. And once they do that, every country will be just as dysfunctional as Somalia and Haiti and Venezuela. Food shortages and disease will spread, and millions of people will die. Hillary Clinton knows all of this, and she&#8217;s doing everything in her power &#8212; which is thankfully limited at the moment &#8212; to make it happen.
And that tells you, for at least the third time this week, that Democrats are fundamentally an anti-human party. They reject the idea that human life has any intrinsic value. They also despise Western civilization and see third-world migration as a way to destabilize and destroy it. And anti-natalism is the core plank of this ideology. It&#8217;s evident in the terrorist attack in California. It&#8217;s evident in this deranged effort by a grandmother to unlock the &#8220;option&#8221; of murdering her own grandchild. And it&#8217;s evident if you listen to Hillary Clinton speak for five seconds. This is a worldview that&#8217;s taken hold at every level of the Left. It&#8217;s only sustainable because most people don&#8217;t see what&#8217;s happening. For the sake of the future generations &#8212; generations that these people badly do not want to exist &#8212; it&#8217;s time to start paying attention.

People often say, “Never discuss politics in polite company.” But, considering today’s volatile climate, let’s break that rule.
As a Christian who’s been president and CEO of Care Net since 2012, I’ve seen the abortion debate shift dramatically — especially since the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturned Roe v. Wade. Many pro-lifers celebrated, thinking we’d won the war.
But did we declare victory too soon?
For decades, the pro-life goal was clear: overturn Roe through the courts. Every January, faithful pro-lifers marched in Washington, D.C., aiming for the right Supreme Court justices to rule in favor of life. Dobbs seemed like the victory we’d fought for — overruling Roe and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, declaring abortion isn’t a “substantive right” rooted in our nation’s history.
But events since then demand we reflect and consider the serious limits of purely political solutions.
The Democratic Party’s position on abortion hasn’t budged since 2012: abortion on demand, anytime, for any reason. It’s their litmus test. Meanwhile, the Republican stance has shifted.
In 2012, with Mitt Romney as their standard-bearer, Republicans opposed all abortions except in cases of rape, incest, or the mother’s life — exceptions that would make 97 percent of abortions illegal. Today, President Donald Trump says abortion should be left to “the will of the people” at the state level. Other Republicans support six- or fifteen-week bans with exceptions, allowing nearly 98% of abortions, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The 2024 Republican platform no longer affirms the unborn’s “fundamental right to life” or supports a Human Life Amendment, only opposing late-term abortions — less than 2% of cases.
Here’s the inconvenient truth: when you consider the abortion issue based on both parties’ platforms, both parties are essentially pro-choice now — one has no exceptions, the other has some.
The debate isn’t about bans anymore; it’s about abortion availability.
This shift undermines two core pro-life convictions: human life begins at conception and is worthy of protection, and a baby’s value isn’t determined by conception circumstances. A weeks-based approach — negotiating when it’s acceptable to end a life — compromises these convictions. This should be as non-negotiable as saying it’s wrong to kill an innocent outside the womb.
Pro-choice advocates don’t negotiate. Their conviction — bodily autonomy at all costs — supports abortion up to birth. That’s why they fought Mississippi’s fifteen-week ban in Dobbs, even though it seemed they would lose. But our weeks-based strategy fails morally and practically. Morally, it undermines the baby’s personhood. Practically, compromising on conviction doesn’t inspire others to adopt it. I can’t think of a successful movement — religious, political, or social — where this approach worked.
History shows that compromising on conviction rarely inspires change. Look at slavery. Abraham Lincoln called it “wrong, morally and politically” in 1859, yet his 1861 inaugural address avoided abolishing it, focusing on stopping its spread. He compromised.
Abolitionists like Frederick Douglass shared Lincoln’s conviction but refused to negotiate, linking their actions to ending slavery entirely. Douglass’s clarity pushed Lincoln. By 1865, Lincoln couldn’t imagine a union with slavery, seeing the Civil War as God-ordained “woe” for the offense of slavery.
We need that clarity today. A weeks-based framework doesn’t inspire courage in politicians or the culture. Without acting like Douglass, we won’t get a Lincoln. I’m grateful for pro-life Republicans working to support women at risk for abortion, and for Dobbs. But if the national policy tolerates most abortions, those efforts are muted. Indeed, abortions are up since Roe was overturned, more states have loosened their restrictions on abortion than not, and public opinion has shifted in a pro-choice direction.
Politicians face Pontius Pilate’s dilemma when faced with an innocent Jesus: “Should the shouts of a powerful and vocal crowd sway them to sacrifice the innocent?” The politics of abortion don’t change its morality. Why Politics Alone Will Never Save the Pro-Life Movement

The mother of a brain-dead woman who is 21-weeks pregnant is upset that her daughter is being kept alive to save the unborn child, a baby boy.
April Newkirk has told the press that her 30-year-old daughter, Adriana Smith, is being kept alive by ventilators, blaming Georgia&#8217;s pro-life law, which bans abortion of unborn babies after six weeks gestation, with some exceptions.
Newkirk says doctors told her she&#8217;s not allowed to take her daughter off the ventilators, so they can protect and save her grandson.
“It should have been left up to the family,” Newkirk said, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/family-forced-keep-brain-dead-pregnant-woman-alive-rcna207002?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_ma&amp;taid=68264b5179b66e000101d84f&amp;utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to NBC News. “I’m not saying that we would have chose to terminate her pregnancy, but what I’m saying is, we should have had a choice.&#8221;
It&#8217;s not entirely clear if Georgia&#8217;s abortion law is the reason Smith is being kept alive.
A spokesman for Emory Healthcare, the healthcare system overseeing Smith&#8217;s care, said they use &#8220;consensus from clinical experts, medical literature, and legal guidance to support our providers as they make individualized treatment recommendations in compliance with Georgia’s abortion laws and all other applicable laws.”
“Our top priorities continue to be the safety and wellbeing of the patients we serve,” the spokesperson added.
In Georgia, an unborn child cannot be killed via abortion after six weeks of pregnancy, except in rare cases, like the health of the mother, rape, incest, or some fetal abnormalities.
Back in February, when Smith was nine-weeks pregnant with her second child, she began feeling unwell and suffering severe headaches. She went to a nearby hospital and was given medication. The following day, however, Smith&#8217;s boyfriend says the 30-year-old was gasping for air and making gargling noises when she woke up.
Smith was eventually transferred to Emory University Hospital, and a CT scan showed multiple blood clots in her brain, NBC News noted.
Ventilators have been keeping Smith breathing for months, Newkirk said. “It’s torture for me,” she said. “I see my daughter breathing, but she’s not there.”
Newkirk added that her family is having to incur costs to keep Smith on life-support.

An elderly pro-life man who was brutally beaten outside of a Baltimore Planned Parenthood says he&#8217;ll keep fighting until his attacker is behind bars, even though the city is “dragging its feet” bringing him justice.
Nearly two years ago Mark Crosby, 75, was beaten alongside 86-year-old Richard Schaefer as they stood outside Planned Parenthood and urged women not to get abortions. Patrick Brice, their 28-year-old attacker, is set to be retried at the end of the month after he dodged a first-degree assault charge in March while being convicted of lesser assault charges. 
“They want us to get hurt again so we go away. But I’m not going away until this guy goes to jail,” Crosby told The Daily Wire. “I’m so prepared, I’m ready for battle, ready to win.”
Brice is set to be retried on May 28 for the first-degree assault charge that he dodged during his trial back in March. Crosby said he was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-lifer-beaten-outside-of-planned-parenthood-surprised-after-no-verdict-on-key-charge">surprised</a> that the previous jury couldn’t come to a consensus because he saw them groaning and looking away while footage of the attack played. 
Footage released by the Baltimore Police Department <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDMYSWHJuNM&amp;rco=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shows</a> Brice tackling Schaefer into a potted plant after an argument outside Planned Parenthood. As Crosby ran up to assist Schaefer, Brice turned and shoved Crosby to the ground, punching him in the face before standing up and kicking him in the face before walking off. 
Crosby was treated after the attack for a fractured bone in his face, blindness in one eye, head and neck pain, two fractured fingers, and bruising on his arms and legs.
“We also want this [treated as] a hate crime because he ripped off my crucifix which was around my neck, it ended up in the bushes,” Crosby told The Daily Wire. “It was definitely a hate crime also, but these Baltimore City state attorneys are dragging their feet on everything.”
The Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City told The Daily Wire that it does not comment on pending cases when reached for comment on if there were any plans to bring hate crime charges against Brice.
Crosby said that during the first trial, Brice’s lawyer accused the elderly pro-lifers of directing a racial slur at him, which he said helped to get the jury on his side. He said that he wasn’t allowed to respond to those allegations or point out that most of the babies they have saved over the years have been black. 
He also said the judge the first time around didn’t allow him to show his eye to the jurors. This time he said his representative plans to bring an eye doctor and a shock trauma doctor to testify about the extent of his injuries. 
Since the day of attack, Crosby and Schaefer have continued to return to the Planned Parenthood where Crosby says they have had their lives threatened numerous times. He says that he has contacted the police, but they tell him that the threats against him are protected speech.
Now, just days before Brice heads to trial again, Crosby is convinced that there is no &#8220;equal protection under the law in Baltimore City.&#8221;

Beaten Pro-Lifer Says Baltimore Is ‘Dragging Its Feet’ Bringing Him Justice

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., head of the Department of Health and Human Services, told lawmakers on Wednesday that he has requested the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) do a &#8220;complete review&#8221; of the abortion pill.
The announcement was welcomed by pro-life conservatives, who previously wondered how RFK Jr., a former Democrat, would respond to abortion-related issues, having previously said that while he believes every abortion is a “tragedy,” the issue is “more nuanced and complex.”
During Wednesday&#8217;s Senate committee hearing, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) asked RFK Jr. if he was aware of a new analysis from the Ethics &amp; Public Policy Center indicating that mifepristone is many times more dangerous than the FDA says on the label for the abortion pill, and he said he was.
&#8220;It&#8217;s alarming,&#8221; RFK Jr. told Hawley.
&#8220;Clearly, it indicates that at the very least the label should be changed,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I&#8217;ve asked Marty Makary, who&#8217;s the director of the FDA, to do a complete review and to report back.&#8221;
RFK Jr. also said that he did not yet have a sense of the timeline of the review.

This can include hemorrhaging, needing a blood transfusion, an emergency room visit, and even deadly conditions like sepsis.
That is about 22 times higher than what the FDA listed on its label for the brand Mifeprex in 2023. The FDA <a href="https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2023/020687Orig1s025Lbl.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cited</a> clinical studies saying less than 0.5% of women suffered “serious adverse reactions” to mifepristone.
Meanwhile, more than one in 20 women need a second abortion attempt after the abortion pill fails, another analysis of insurance claim data <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/more-than-1-in-20-women-need-second-abortion-attempt-after-abortion-pill-fails?author=Mairead+Elordi&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=More+Than+1+in+20+Women+Need+Second+Abortion+Attempt+After+Abortion+Pill+Fails" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> this week showed.
&#8220;We&#8217;re very thankful for this announcement from Secretary Kennedy. We encourage the FDA to conduct its own study to best ensure that women are given an honest and clear presentation of the dangers of the abortion pill,&#8221; Ryan Anderson, President of the Ethics and Public Policy Center and one of the authors of the analysis told The Daily Wire.
The two-pill chemical abortion regimen — mifepristone, usually followed by misoprostol — aims to end the life of the unborn baby and expel it from the woman’s uterus. However, the drugs sometimes fail to expel all the fetal tissue, which can cause life-threatening complications.
A few months before Roe v. Wade was overturned, the FDA scrapped the requirement that women must obtain abortion pills in person from a healthcare provider, allowing them to get them online through the mail.
“We applaud Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for his swift directive to FDA for a thorough study of the dangerous chemical abortion pill,” Doug Truax, founder of Foundation for the Restoration of America, which put out another report on the abortion pill&#8217;s &#8220;serious adverse events&#8221; told The Daily Wire.
“The health and safety of women is at risk and we can’t allow ideology to trump science,” Truax said.
Last year, Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ben-shapiro-challenges-rfk-jr-on-abortion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">challenged</a> Kennedy Jr. on abortion during an interview, telling him that abortion is “not just a tragedy. It’s a crime against the child because the child has an independent interest. What do you say to that?”
“I say that I understand that position, and I don’t agree with it,” Kennedy responded, adding that he believes “the solution of having the state come in and dictate choices that a woman is making is not a good solution.”
RFK Jr. appeared before both Senate and House committees on Wednesday to defend President Donald Trump&#8217;s proposed budget cuts to the HHS, which RFK Jr. <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/14/us/politics/rfk-jr-hhs-overhaul-hearing.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> would be &#8220;painful&#8221; but would save money “without impacting critical services.”

The South Carolina Supreme Court rejected an effort from Planned Parenthood to water down the state&#8217;s pro-life heartbeat law, ruling on Wednesday that the state could enforce its protections for unborn babies at around six weeks of development.
In its decision, the court ruled against Planned Parenthood&#8217;s claim that the law could only protect babies at around nine weeks of development, claiming that was when a baby&#8217;s heartbeat can first be detected. The court said that the legislature had intended to protect unborn babies at around six weeks, when heart activity can first be detected, ruling against the abortion giant.

&#8220;While we do not frame our holding today in the shorthand terms of a number of weeks, the biologically identifiable moment in time we hold is the &#8216;fetal heartbeat&#8217; under the 2023 Act occurs in most instances at approximately six weeks of pregnancy,&#8221; the majority <a href="https://www.sccourts.org/media/opinions/HTMLFiles/SC/28280.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>.
The question the justices were addressing was: &#8220;at what point in a woman&#8217;s pregnancy does a &#8216;fetal heartbeat&#8217; occur&#8221; as defined by South Carolina&#8217;s 2023 Fetal Heartbeat and Protection From Abortion Act. The court defined this as when a &#8220;medical professional may objectively determine to have occurred by the existence of the &#8216;cardiac activity&#8217; of electrical impulses detectable as a &#8216;sound&#8217; with diagnostic medical technology such as a transvaginal ultrasound device.&#8221;
Top South Carolina officials celebrated the decision.

The Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America organization also praised the decision from the court.
“Planned Parenthood has failed in attempting to rewrite the science of human development to further their agenda for more abortions and more profit,&#8221; said SBA Pro-Life America Political Director Caitlin Connors. &#8220;The level of science denial from this abortion giant that receives $800 million in taxpayer funding annually should astound South Carolinians who overwhelmingly re-elected Gov. Henry McMaster and state Republicans after they enacted the heartbeat law.&#8221;
