While hiding out in his cave in Pakistan, Osama bin Laden enjoyed DVDs, books, pornography, and a treasure trove of online videos, according to the CIA, who released a “treasure trove” of bin Laden documents and media on Sunday.
He was even, apparently, working on some complicated crochet.
The mastermind behind Al Qaeda enjoyed cat videos and National Geographic documentaries, and owned a DVD of the History Channel special, Where in the World Is Osama bin Laden? (not exactly a mystery to him), and had downloaded the 9/11 conspiracy web series, Loose Change, which argues that bin Laden wasn’t responsible for the 2001 terror attacks.
The world’s top terrorist enjoyed books by Noam Chomsky and Bob Woodward.
Bin Laden spent years hiding in a 38,000-square foot walled compound in Pakistan before the CIA discovered his whereabouts and sent SEAL Team Six to interrupt his non-stop video viewing.
To while away the hours waiting for his eventual capture, bin Laden enjoyed blockbusters like Antz, Cars, and Resident Evil, as well as bootleg versions of American movies — even though he reportedly hated the West, he certainly enjoyed binging Hollywood’s finest films. He also liked pornography and erotic video games; the CIA discovered an entire collection of bootleg anime babe-driven Japanese and Korean video games.
He was also working on his stitches and perls. Among his downloaded video collection:
“Art of Crochet by Teresa – Baby Crochet Sock Edging”
“Art of Crochet by Teresa – Crochet Spring Rose”
“Art of Crochet by Teresa – Radiant Crochet Butterfly”
“Art of Crochet by Teresa – Radiant Crochet Flower”
“Art of Crochet by Teresa – Crochet Spring Rose”
There were, of course, more serious documents among the cache, including draft videos and statements bin Laden planned to send to Al Qaeda operatives working in all parts of the world, as well as a personal journal bin Laden kept, detailing his involvement with the international terror organization. Although he wasn’t actively involved in Al Qaeda’s strategy by the time he was sequestered in Pakistan, he appeared to be consulting with some of Al Qaeda’s top leaders.
In between crochet sessions, of course.
