In a joint statement celebrating President Joe Biden’s first year in office, Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) boasted that Biden’s first year was one of the most “impactful” for any president in modern history.

The statement released Thursday stated: “When President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were sworn in one year ago, our nation faced a dark and difficult moment from pandemic and economic crises. One year later, we proudly mark one of the most impactful first years of a presidency in modern times.”

Pelosi and Schumer pointed to vaccinations, government handouts, and “job creation” as evidence of an “impactful” first year.

The statement goes on to claim Biden was “strong” on the economy. “Democrats have powered an historic economic recovery that has created a record 6.4 million new jobs, slashed the unemployment rate with the biggest single-year drop ever, from 6.2 percent to 3.9 percent, and helping sixteen million Americans off the unemployment rolls,” the statement read.

While the statement boldly claims that Biden has “created” jobs, it should be noted that analysis has shown Biden hasn’t added a single job to the economy.

Pelosi and Schumer’s claims fly directly in the face of most Americans who are frustrated by Biden’s handling of the economy. The Daily Wire previously reported that a CBS News poll released Sunday found that half of voters are “frustrated” with the Biden administration. Another 40% of voters shared that they were “nervous,” and only 25% said they were “calm” or “satisfied.”

The main areas of concern for voters in the poll were the economy and inflation. Close to 60% said Biden was not focused on the economy as much as he should be, and another 65% said he should focus more on inflation.

Last week, The Daily Wire reported that a top Obama economist issued a strong warning about higher inflation. “I think the data flow is saying what I’ve thought for quite some time that, yes, there are transitory elements in inflation, and very likely they will recede, but we are basically moving towards higher entrenched inflation,” former Treasury Secretary and director of the National Economic Council Larry Summers said. “It’s there in expectations, it’s there in wages, it’s there in labor shortages, it’s there in the pervasive pattern across many different prices.”

Pelosi and Schumer either did not pay attention to the latest polling and economic warnings, or they simply ignored them. The two top Democrats pointed to an optimistic future with their party in control, executing Biden’s “spectacular vision for the future.”

Pelosi and Schumer concluded: “One year into President Biden’s term, our Democratic Majorities in Congress remain hard at work alongside the Administration to execute his spectacular vision for the future by continuing to support strong communities, lowering costs for American families, tackling the climate crisis and requiring the wealthiest to pay their fair share.  We remain committed to delivering on this agenda – now and for decades to come.”
