On Wednesday night, after Arizona Democrat Senator Kyrsten Sinema joined West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin to kill the Democrats’ desperate attempt to gut the Senate legislative filibuster, GOP senators lined up to congratulate her and shake her hand.

That precipitated an avalanche of vitriol from leftists across social media who pilloried Sinema for standing up against the enormous pressure from President Biden and the Democrats eager to eviscerate the filibuster so they can pass the “Freedom To Vote Act” and alter voting procedures across the country. Some examples included:
Sickening. Narcissist @kyrstensinema has become one of the Deplorables.
I don’t think the senator from Arizona realizes that when they are done getting what they need from her they would throw her out of a moving car.
Anyone see any cash being slipped into her slimey hands?
Traitor in Red.
That red dress is no accident.
Karma and God will take care of her.
It’s the envelope line at a mobsters funeral.
I can hear them now, good girl, great job honey, way to stand strong sugar…
Am sure this was a major moment for this narcissist….getting accolades from GOP senators it only feeds her delusion that she is “the one” to “unite” America.
“The Freedom to Vote Act looks to override a number of election rules put in place by some Republican-led states and includes language to allow for same-day voter registration and no-excuse mail voting, prevent states from requiring a photo ID to vote, allow felons to vote in all states and would require super PACs and so-called “dark money groups” to disclose all donors who contribute more than $10,000,” The New York Post noted.
“Manchin, D-W.Va., and Sinema, D-Ariz., joined all Senate Republicans in opposing the attempt to alter the Senate filibuster on party lines, resulting in a 48-52 final tally,” Fox News reported. “That vote followed a failed attempt by Democrats to advance the election bills over the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster threshold. All Republicans opposed it.”
Manchin said on the Senate floor Wednesday, “For the last year, my Democratic colleagues have taken to the Senate floor, cable news airwaves, pages of newspapers across the country to argue that repealing the filibuster is actually restoring the Senate to the vision the Founding Fathers intended for this deliberative body. My friends, that is simply not true. It’s just not true. The United States Senate has never, in 233 years, been able to end debate on legislation with a simple majority vote.”
After the vote, Biden stated, “I am profoundly disappointed that the United States Senate has failed to stand up for our democracy. … I am disappointed — but I am not deterred. My Administration will never stop fighting to ensure that the heart and soul of our democracy — the right to vote — is protected at all costs.”
Vice President Kamala Harris echoed, “Senators voted to preserve an arcane Senate rule rather than secure that fundamental freedom. The American people will not forget this moment. Neither will history. Our Administration will continue to fight to pass federal legislation—and to change Senate rules—to secure the right to vote.”
But Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) asserted, “The Senate voted tonight to preserve the 60 vote, bipartisan approval for legislation, saving the institution itself. Senators Manchin and Sinema demonstrated the courage of their convictions. It was a good and historic night.”
