A new development was revealed to the public this week from the 2017 Las Vegas massacre, which left 60 people dead and hundreds more injured, after letters were released allegedly from an ex-convict in Texas written to the man who later went on to carry out the atrocity.

The Associated Press reported that the FBI released the letters, signed by a man named Jim Nixon, in response to a records request from The Wall Street Journal.

The 75-year-old Vietnam war veteran, who served some time in prison for tax fraud, told local media that he never contacted law enforcement about the shooter, who The Daily Wire is not naming due to company policy about depriving mass killers of the notoriety that they seek.

“He did what he did and I feel bad I couldn’t have stopped him,” Nixon said. “I didn’t know he was going to do what he did.”

Police received the letters two months after the shooting when they were discovered by the new owners of a vacant property in Mesquite, Texas — a place where the shooter had once owned property.

“My friend it sound like you are going to kill or murder someone or some people,” a letter written to the shooter in June 2017 said. “Please don’t go on any shooting rampage like some fool.”

The month prior, another letter was sent to the shooter that said, “I am concern about the way you are talking and believe you are going to do something very bad.”

“Please don’t go out shooting or hurting people who did nothing to you,” the letter said. “Please please don’t do what I think you are going to do.”

The FBI did not comment on the credibility of the letters. The bureau said that the shooter used the money that he got from selling property that he owned in Mesquite to “buy dozens of weapons that were ultimately used in the shooting.”

“The FBI does not comment on individual interviews conducted during an investigation and we do not comment on (freedom of information) documents,” the bureau said Friday. “There is no new information that the FBI was not aware or that the FBI has not shared with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in this case. We stand by the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit key findings summary report.”
