NCIS cast newbie Maria Bello has only been on the show a week and she’s already in trouble, though not with a super mysterious military murderer — with the anti-gun crowd.
Bello, who plays Special Agent Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane on the hit CBS drama, posted a photo to Instagram earlier this week, showing her and her boyfriend, Elijah Allan-Blitz, at a gun range. Bello was, apparently, learning how to use some of the weapons she might come across while filming the show, and posed for a picture with a huge semi-automatic weapon.

Since NCIS is about the Naval Criminal Investigative Services, it’s not shockng that Bello might have to use (or fake-use) a military grade weapon, but that didn’t keep anti-gun activists from losing their minds completely.
The Wrap quoted Bello’s Instagram fans, who called the photo “shameful” and accused Bello of making light of the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas with her semi-automatic weapons pose.
“That’s a shameful pic,” one individual wrote. “Always been a fan, but glamorizing assault weapons after Vegas is clumsy at best, callous at worst. One less fan. Good luck with ‘NCIS.’”
“There is nothing sexy about anyone holding a gun,” wrote another fan.
That last guy has clearly never met a man (or woman) in uniform.
Bello didn’t let the criticism get to her, and has not taken down the photo. A spokesperson for the actress said that Bello doesn’t intend to, either. “Maria was clearly training for her role in ‘NCIS’ and thanking her instructor,” Bello’s representative said.
