<p>The NAACP Board of Directors issued a statement on Saturday warning black Americans that the state of Florida was not a safe place for them and included an official &#8220;travel advisory&#8221; calling the state &#8220;openly hostile&#8221; – but the board&#8217;s chairman, Leon Russell, apparently lives in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/florida">Florida</a> himself.</p>
<p>The statement, released on Saturday, accused Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-desantis">Ron DeSantis</a> of making &#8220;aggressive attempts to erase black history and to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in Florida schools.&#8221;</p>

<p>The travel advisory goes on to warn black Americans that &#8220;Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Before traveling to Florida, please understand that the state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by African Americans and other communities of color.&#8221;</p>
<p>But Florida GOP Chairman Christian Ziegler quickly noticed that Russell, chairman of the NAACP&#8217;s Board of Directors, lived in Florida — and he offered a quick response.</p>
<p>&#8220;The CHAIRMAN of the @NAACP lives in Tampa, FLORIDA!&#8221; he tweeted. &#8220;True leadership is being willing to do what you ask others to do &#8230; time to step up and MOVE. If you think our state is so bad, the @FloridaGOP will help with moving costs.&#8221;</p>

<p>Florida has been the target of a number of attacks from the left in recent weeks – largely due to actions Governor DeSantis has taken to prevent doctors and parents from allowing minors to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/florida-senate-passes-bill-banning-minors-from-having-gender-reassignment-surgery-desantis-florida-house-likely-to-make-it-law" target="_blank" rel="noopener">begin the medical process</a> of gender transition and to prevent schools from teaching radical gender theory to elementary school students.</p>
<p>DeSantis is also expected to announce a bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination in the coming days, joining a field that already includes former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/alpha-karen-with-brown-skin-msnbc-guest-ratchets-up-the-racism-to-insult-nikki-haley" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nikki Haley</a>, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, and Vivek Ramaswamy.</p>
